  1. Replace Flanders with Jeffcoat and Walker with Sayles, then.
  2. Yeah, nothing shouts sensible realism like spouting off tinfoil hat terms like indoctrination, bogeyman, Big Brother, Orwellian, and 1984. Now we wait for this thread to get locked again.
  3. https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/jets/random-thoughts-from-nine-days-on-the-road-with-jets-506992322.html The full quote seems reasonable enough.
  4. And rightfully so; valid criticism is reasonable. The top line has struggled at times this season, which bears out in the analytics compared to 2017-18. What does that have to do with the claim Scheifele (or Wheeler) has been terrible, though?
  5. Update on Halifax franchise: https://3downnation.com/2019/03/12/halifax-group-has-committed-60-million-to-project-ambrosie/
  6. He got booed last night, too! I'm sure it must've been a bunch of Islanders fans masquerading in Leafs jerseys at the game, though. They got thoroughly waxed at home. And it was a treat to watch the highlights.
  7. The emotionally charged posting is comical, especially when it involves telling others to watch closer. Your chicken little hyperbole is mired in ignorance, seemingly of the wilful variety. And the lack of posting any stats whatsoever would indicate you should take your own advice. Of Scheifele's 32 goals, 23 are EV. Of his 43 assists, 29 are EV. Of Wheeler's 19 goals, 15 are EV. Of his 64 assists, 37 are EV. Of those 158 combined points, 104 are EV (65.8%). In other words, nearly 2/3 of their combined production takes place at even strength. This while having a revolving door of wingers opposite Wheeler. Nobody will argue the forwards are not playing as well defensively as last season* but the notion the top line has been terrible is absolute nonsense. It's almost like the rest of league took notice of how good the Jets are after a record campaign and now they have a bigger target on their backs. Imagine that. Go ahead and dump on #55 but he's still on pace for a career season. In the last two months (Jan. 10 - Mar. 10), Scheifele has played 26 games. In that span, he has 9 goals (7 EV, 2 PP), 13 assists (11 EV, 2 PP), for 22 points, with a 14.3 S%. Granted, he's a -2 during that span, so there's no doubt he's struggled. My one "gripe" with him, if there is one, is this: faceoffs. He'll need to be better come the playoffs, along with his linemates and teammates, but to suggest he's been terrible is a disingenuous overreaction. * (worse than last season =/= terrible)
  8. I can relate to this pretty well. I'm employed by the feds and my workplace seems much, much better compared to my sister's, who is employed by the province. Her position is currently being threatened because the province is contemplating restructuring her department. She and her colleagues are not happy - and understandably so. I complain about my job as I'm sure most do but her situation sounds way, way worse.
  9. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl-investigating-alleged-use-of-homophobic-slur-in-lightning-leafs-game-1.1271845 According to the social media rumour mill, it was Leafs' defenseman Morgan Rielly who directed the slur at an official.
  10. Where do you come up with this garbage? Where do you put either player, anyway? And seriously... you're trying to blame Scheifele's recent struggles on his breakup with Dara Howell back in the summer of 2017...? He's played a total 145 games since then, scoring 69 goals and 155 points, and is a +40. Oh, and an All-Star nod. I agree with you on the predictability of the power play but that's ultimately on the coaching staff to change the scheme. This nonsense about breaking up the top line is utterly asinine.
  11. I feel like that's an insult to snakes.
  12. He's not a strong offensive blue liner by any means. That's not his job, though. Outside of the powerplay (which I think he's on simply because #33 and #44 are out), he had a solid outing last night. Wasn't Morrissey on top unit when Byfuglien went down with injury?
  13. Kypreos did the same last night after the Leafs/Oilers game. He made it sound like the Jets and the Flames missed out on Stone. Idiot.
  14. This team scares me the most as a possible first round opponent. Knights re-up Stone: https://www.tsn.ca/golden-knights-sign-stone-to-8-year-deal-1.1270108
  15. Costly injury for a team in the hunt.
  16. That is massive.
  17. That burger actually looks disgusting.
  18. No, that's not it. Read the caption in my post. Foley and the NHL made a deal that for his team to be exempt, it wouldn't receive a cut of Seattle's $650M expansion fee. It's not a commissioner playing favourites. At all. I don't understand these lame attempts by fans to vilify Bettman. At the end of the day, he represents the BOG and its interests.
  19. Last March called. It wants its news back. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/nhl-gm-meetings-wrap-vegas-spared-seattle-draft/
  20. No. Unless Paul Brake has access to information literally nobody else does. His Twitter feed would suggest otherwise, though.
