  1. Disastrous start and a disastrous final frame last night. At least the home team got a win for its dozen or so fans. Apparently, any class the Panthers once had left in that taxi with Gerard Gallant a while back. Trocheck is a turd. Tomorrow's game in Tampa Bay could be seriously ugly.
  2. It's not just Gary Bettman who makes the call on whether or not a team stays somewhere. The NHL Board of Governors is the ruling body that makes decisions as far as expansion, sale, and/or relocation of a franchise goes. You can label Bettman a dumbass (he's still better than Goodell) but you should probably do the same for the BoG.
  3. 2011 was only a couple of years removed from the last attempt of Jim Balsillie to get a NHL franchise. Three swings, three misses... A true lesson in futility. While I can't be certain, I'm guessing there were other parties interested regarding the instability of the Atlanta Thrashers and its ownership group. TNSE, however, just went about acquiring a franchise the right way and was rewarded justly for its patient efforts. TNSE also had a good track record with its IHL/AHL franchise, which I'm sure helped its cause when it came to negotiating with the NHL.
  4. Sure, but that's not a valid sample size by which to form a negative opinion of him, much less to assert him starting today will be "cringe-worthy"... That is simply not reasonable.
  5. Seriously...? Well, that's a pretty crappy way to form an opinion of any player, but especially a goalie.
  6. What don't you like about Comrie?
  7. Well, he didn't pull a Todd Flanders, which is good.
  8. This transaction was pretty much a given a while ago. I can't see anything changing as far as the franchise's viability goes, though.
  9. This. He knew how to build a flash in the plan team, but nothing sustainable from a continuity standpoint. We saw that here a decade ago and then again more recently with the Riders. The only difference there was the starting QB didn't get his arm broken in the Division Final.
  10. As they damn well should. You can't stand pat on what hasn't worked and expect anything to improve. That'd qualify as insanity.
  11. Aren't they all...?
  12. Second career NHL start for Comrie tonight. This should be a good test for him.
  13. He gets the start tonight, which is alright - permitted the Jets decide to show up this time. Can't dog it again in the opening frame. Might as well see what Comrie can do. And the idea of being proactive to prevent potential fatigue for Hellebuyck isn't a bad one. Comrie has the skill set. But he'll need help up front, which means a strong defensive game from everyone else. Can't have Myers and Morrissey playing like they did on Tuesday.
  14. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/r/reimeja01.html The Pride of Morweena had a nice stint with the Sharks two seasons ago and then had a good campaign last season with the Panthers. His numbers are down so far this season, though. He's posting his worst GAA and SV% of his career, actually. I'm not sure if that's due to the team's poor play as a whole or if he's struggling, but that bodes well for the visiting team tomorrow - permitted the Jets actually show up from the opening face-off.
  15. Fair enough. I'm sure you're not the only one.
  16. And you're trolling hard. Obtuse definitely is a bad look. Actually, I didn't name any names. You took it upon yourself - 16 hours later - to quote me and then make it about you. Nice job being presumptuous and then getting defensive. I made a general statement and you chose to turn it into an argument - well after the fact. Hellebuyck's energy level is fine. I don't understand why you seem to think you know more than anyone else here, much less the team itself. Can the chicken little routine. Oh, and in case you didn't know, Mason is with the team on the road right now and has been skating. So, don't just assume Comrie will get his first start this season against the Blues.
  17. Obtuse is a bad look. The workload is what determines the goalie who starts: back-to-back games or heavier weeks, for example. Anyway, the goaltending was the least of the Jets' issues last night. That was my point.
  18. Yeah, I never said or implied anything of the sort.
  19. Optimus Reim to get the start in net for the Panthers...?
  20. Not sure who here watches Vikings on History Channel (a damn good series, IMO), but if you do, Knightfall airs tonight immediately afterward. Based on the history of the Knights Templar during the 14th century, I expect it'll be a gooder. http://www.history.ca/knightfall/
  21. Of course he looked tired. He worked his tail off for most of the game, particularly in the opening period. The team looked lazy, careless, and mostly terrible for the first 20 minutes. And no, that isn't an acceptable strategy. You put your best players on the ice, regardless of the opponent.
  22. Trump says U.S. now recognizes Jerusalem as capital of Israel, will also direct State Department to move U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/trump-announcement-jerusalem-us-1.4435649
  23. In 1997 and 1998, when he was also the head coach.
  24. Charlee's is damn good. Good service, great food, and a nicely varied menu. You'll like it.
