  1. Count me on board with this acquisition. And for a third rounder...? Solid.
  2. If anything, Pavelec ran himself out of town into unrestricted free agency by not being sufficiently good at goaltending. Sure, there were other issues ailing the team but his tenure with this franchise was mostly a forgettable one. Goaltenders are under the microscope in every NHL market. Winnipeg isn't an exception by any stretch of the imagination.
  3. And then Allen got his head on straight and played very well down the stretch and into the post-season. He pretty much stole the opening round against the Wild. A goalie's numbers will usually be influenced by the team in front of him, particularly in how that team plays defensively and the talent on its blue line. Anyway, you think the team should continue running Hellebuyck and Hutchinson...? That worked so well for the team last season, eh? Oh, wait... Cheveldayoff made it clear goaltending was a weakness and would address it in the off-season. Sticking to the status quo is not option - because the numbers don't lie.
  4. A couple more wins still wouldn't have put the Jets into a playoff position. IIRC, they finished 7 points out, so they would've needed at least three more wins for a better shot.
  5. Well, they had Jake Allen in development. I wouldn't say the Blues "got sick of his ****"... It was simply time to move on. Again, who would you rather the Jets get to address their goaltending needs? I don't think Elliott is as bad as you're making him out to be, but more importantly, what's the alternative at this stage for the organization? A stopgap who can play well enough, provide a veteran presence, and take pressure off a developing young goalie is what the Jets need.
  6. Marginally. He was also grossly overpaid.
  7. Just because things didn't pan out in Calgary doesn't mean there couldn't be a different result with another team. Besides Elliott, who else is worth considering that fits into the Jets needs?
  8. Agreed. They look ridiculous.
  9. I'd have to imagine he's here for the latter.
  10. http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/devin-setoguchi-rises-from-rock-bottom-to-earn-another-shot-at-the-nhl It's quite the gut-wrenching read. On his time in Winnipeg:
  11. A damn shame. The Stars got just got stronger on their blue line and didn't give up much of anything to do so.
  12. The Bombers have an extremely soft secondary...? Are you basing that on two pre-season games? How did Glenn's quick release, experience, and "those receivers" work out for the Riders last Thursday, BTW? If the Bombers' secondary is extremely soft, what does that make the Alouettes' secondary? Marshmallow soft? Kitten soft? Fresh linen soft? By your logic, the Riders' offense will need to do the same: control the ball and avoid two and outs. I mean, how else would an offense execute its gameplan? LOL
  13. He was a beauty. Just couldn't stay healthy.
  14. Could be worse things. Like driving and crashing your brand new BMW M6 while under the influence...
  15. http://www.tsn.ca/selanne-kariya-head-hockey-hall-of-fame-s-class-of-2017-1.789412 That's one hell of a class.
  16. Quite a few head scratchers on this list. Nice to see a solid share of Bombers on it, though.
  17. Atlanta's the only city to have two NHL franchises and lose them both, though.
  18. How the hell was Morrissey disappointing...?
  19. Should be blatantly obvious... A poutine without fries isn't. A. Poutine.
  20. I seem to recall a 2012 Bombers team having some strong receivers (Edwards, Matthews) but having no QB and a weak O-line, not to mention lousy depth. 6-12 was the best they could do. How are the 2017 Riders any different? +1 with Blaszko getting a look here, BTW.
  21. So, CJOB doesn't have a favoured team...? As I said, saying the kick is good is the correct nomenclature and isn't meant to imply anything except the fact the kick was successfully made.
  22. This seems like a common issue with players represented by Hardaway. Gotta wonder if it has something to do with the common denominator. Remember Muamba's 2015 CFL World Tour and St. John's contract issues with the Riders last year...?
  23. Sigh... Seriously? Saying the kick is good is the correct nomenclature and isn't meant to imply anything except the fact the kick was successfully made. It's no different than when the announcer says the exact same thing on TV/radio.
  24. Ah, yes. My bad... I forgot to turn on my sarcasm detector this morning.
