  1. Richards is out long-term. I doubt we see him any time soon.
  2. The 2009 Blue Bombers finished 7-11 and missed the playoffs, ultimately getting destroyed at home in that season finale game. That season was mired by issues on and off the field, despite what good there might have been. Obviously, the '09 team was better than the '13 team. I don't see what's accomplished by comparing piles of garbage, though.
  3. That's the bottom line...? That's like comparing two dumpster fires and debating on which one burns hotter. A dumpster fire is a dumpster fire. The only difference is Burke didn't make personnel decisions like Kelly did.
  4. A CFL legend. He will be missed. Rest In Peace.
  5. That was the ugliest game I've ever watched. Never have I seen a team look so apathetic. I couldn't even imagine being at the game itself for that embarrassing display by the Bombers. I'd have probably bailed at half-time. The Banjo Bowl was better but that was loss was just as gutting (losing on another last second FG). But then a week later, that apathy carried over in Calgary, as the Bombers got slaughtered again 44-3. That was the game where players were laughing on the sidelines. I'll never forget the look on Burke's face as Collier chuckled like an idiot behind him on the bench... All on national TV. Just sickening.
  6. It was a loss to the Lions, final score 20-17. I was at that game and it was pretty entertaining, despite ending up as a loss on a last second FG by BC. Matthews had 100 yards receiving and Washington had a pick and a fumble recovery, as well as some nice returns. LaPolice was canned the next day, and Burke took over as the Bombers went into the bye week. Then they were massacred in Regina.
  7. Sure, that's fair. But who put Burke in that position? Mack deserves all the blame he gets for the questionable decisions he made as GM of this team. Throws LaPolice under the bus after a close loss at home and then puts all the responsibility on an interim rookie HC with some misguided expectation to turn around the team. So, he should've just refused to take over as HC and bail on the team...?
  8. Might as well throw Reilly into the conversation, too. And we'll title it "QBs the Bombers didn't have a shot at landing."
  9. I didn't misunderstand anything, so I have no idea where you came up with such nonsense. I disagreed with another poster's opinion on not being sold on Nichols and his claim LeFevour would surpass him at some point.
  10. I honestly don't even know what you're going on about anymore. You basically made my point for me: he proved he could be a winning QB, something the Bombers haven't had in years. And IIRC, isn't MOP nominated by the organization itself...?
  11. All I'm saying is Nichols proved his worth last season as a QB and his individual numbers seem to reflect that. Despite not having played a full season, either.
  12. Yeah, I agree. I can't see there not being a 4th QB on the roster. Still sucks. Apodaca seemed to have a lot of raw potential.
  13. Nothing is guaranteed but that seems like a logical conclusion. Hellebuyck is better and Cheveldayoff has said he intends to address the goaltending, which seems to indicate he'll do so via trade or free agency. Therefore, it stands to reason Hutchinson will go down to the Moose and back up Comrie. Stuart wasn't okay. He's a terrible defenseman and his cap hit is absurd. Matthias is alright as a depth piece, but there's no reason whatsoever to protect him.
  14. You mean Comrie (Cormier is a forward). Eric Comrie is not eligible for the expansion draft, so your previous comment makes even less sense now. What does his pre-season play from a year ago have to do with anything, BTW? He's a very young and unproven netminder, so why would you want him gone? And Pavelec is a UFA. I can't see Vegas signing him off the street as a free agent.
  15. Why would Vegas take Hutchinson? Or a career AHLer like Cormier?
  16. Could be a possibility. Seems strange for an unproven rookie QB to decline such an offer, though. That's odd. A PR QB seems like a given.
  17. Isn't 99% of Twitter made up of just those...?
  18. Agreed. Well said. Emotion and instinct make up a significant part of our thought processes, which I think is inherent in biological intelligence. Logic and calculation are no doubt present, but we're typically capable of explaining our rationale or motivation relative to what was thought or felt in that moment. For an entity whose intelligence is wholly based on calculation and logic, it's a different process and while the application to real world issues could prove useful, determining the why and the how is an obvious challenge and muddies the waters as AI advances are made. It's an extremely fascinating discussion, especially as technology continues to advance and play an ever growing role in our lives. I found this last line of the article poignant: It begs the question: what if an explanation is beyond our understanding? I can't help but think AI would, if given the opportunity to do so, advance beyond our human intelligence. It seems inevitable.
  19. Sounds like intelligence beyond our understanding. Logic in its purest form, in other words. That has the potential to be amazing and scary all at once.
  20. That seems awfully good to be true. Hjalmarsson could be an interesting piece to acquire.
  21. If you want to discuss Nichols' individual performance in 2016, that works. He was nominated team MOP for a reason. In 15 GP (13 as the starting QB), he made 327 completions on 471 attempts (69.4 COMP %), passed for 3,666 yards, 18 TDs and 9 INTs. That's good for a QB efficiency rating of 97.15, which indicates he was an asset much more often than he was a liability. He also had to deal with a banged up receiving corps, as well as missing the team's top receiver for the bulk of the season. It would've been interesting to see how might have finished had he replaced Willy sooner, or even started the season. And again: I still can't understand the assertion LeFevour will surpass Nichols in the future, or how it's justified at this point in time.
