Bombers Training Camp 2017 - May 28
blue_gold_84 replied to Mr Dee's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It was about damn time the organization try a different approach, instead of the typical give-in-to-pressure kneejerk nonsense. Stability is key to build a strong team and brand. Last season was proof of that, IMO. -

Especially the current drought. Practically been a new coach every other year since the last championship... -

LaPolice wasn't with the Bombers at any point during Glenn's first tenure. Glenn was a MOP nomination in 2007, BTW. Kit Cartwright was the OC that season. Until last season, LaPolice and Glenn had never worked together. -

Presumptuous meme is presumptuous. Nobody loves Hutchinson. Frankly, the Jets could do better than either him or Pickard. The Jets need to address their goalie situation this year, anyway. Not a year from now.
-
To play for the Jets...?
-
The IIHF needs to eliminate the shootout from elimination games. It's such an anticlimactic to decide a game, especially when there's a medal on line.
-
Well, the team isn't giving up on him, so I'll go with their assessment over a disgruntled and impatient fan's on a forum.
-
What's not to understand? Pierce and Neufeld were both known commodities before injuries hampered their careers. The same can't be said for Richards - there isn't even a sample size.
-
Except Richards, for all intents and purposes, isn't a veteran. A veteran player has actual in-game experience under his belt. And I think the coaches on the team know what's best for him. Saying he needs to be put on ST at camp to earn a spot on the roster isn't reasonable. And for the record, when he has been able to play, he has been a backup receiver.
-
Difficult to compare Richards to two actual veterans who had significant playing time under their belts before getting injured.
-
A third year veteran who's dressed for 17 games, seen limited action in those games, and has dealt with his fair share of serious injuries. Development doesn't follow a guaranteed path. I don't think it's reasonable to cut a player because his path has had more obstacles than another.
-
I dunno... I happen to think using cromulent words embiggens people.
-
Kinda hard to prove oneself when he has been ravaged by injuries since being drafted. Had Richards been playing and not showing anything, then you'd have a point.
-
Solid job ignoring the rest of my comment and resorting to needless derision. Well done!
-
Well, if they play better than Wednesday, maybe. But is a goalie change going to make a difference? The Penguins' lack of speed seemed to hinder them more than anything in game 3.
-
The Jets don't spend anywhere close to the cap, which makes them a budget team. TNSE being careful or conservative with regard to its expenditures is a different conversation but certainly can be related to their being a budget team at the present time. It makes more sense than being reckless, lest they end up like the Islanders. Budget team doesn't necessarily carry a negative connotation, anyway. At the current stage of the team's progress, I think it's just part of the equation until their prospects round out the roster more completely.
-
The two are agile and incredibly quick. Makes 'em so fun to watch, IMO. Even more so with Dressler now that he's no longer in the ugliest colour in the CFL.
-
And into today over here. Still can't believe he's gone. Just terrible.
-
Starting Murray seems a bit like a desperation move and a gamble on Sullivan's part. I can't see a goalie change making a difference. The Penguins were pretty bad in their own end for most of game 3, anyway.

Then nothing - obviously. It was clear back then no offer was going to be entertained by Trouba's camp. -

But regardless of that, wasn't it rumoured the Jets had an offer on the table? Something long-term? -

Not allowed...? How were they not allowed to offer a contract extension to one of their own players?
