Tanev is a winger, though. Not really an apt comparison to Lowry, a versatile two-way centre and top 9 mainstay on the team. Considering the importance of depth down the middle, I'd say Lowry is worth his $3.25M AAV. He's as consistent as they come. Lowry's contract is not an obstacle related to Copp, IMO. All indications were the latter would be testing free agency this off-season. He'll be paid handsomely as a UFA, too.
