You have no way of knowing that, none at all. We had every bit as good a chance with our backups vs a starter who clearly could not throw the ball. A good leader sets up his people to succeed. With this boneheaded decision, O'Shea set up Collaros and the rest of the team to fail. One has to ask why he thought a qb with a damaged hand was a better option than a fully functioning backup, who in theory, is there for exactly this sort of situation.

For me, the issue is that he took the bonus, given to him with the expectation he would honour his contract. He decided to back out. It doesn't matter at all why. An honourable person would return the money. He didn't. Tells me everything I need to know about his character. If he wants to spend more time with his family, great, but while being with them it might also be a good idea to teach his kids what it looks like to be someone who keeps their word.

That may be the first time that has ever been said about Regina.

Always enjoy people trying to decide who a true Canadian is, or who a true veteran is, or who a true CFL fan is and then declaring that their definition is the "right" one.

I for one, am not surprised that we're moving towards the "Who's a true fan?" conversation again. We didn't have it too often during the good years, so this is yet another signal about how far we've slid. Of course, being 0-4 should have been a good clue, but this simply confirms it.

In my opinion, Walters can only step in once it is abundantly clear that O'Shea has lost the plot. A good manager lets his people do the job he's paying them to do, and would only step in if his subordinate is floundering and doesn't seem able to get his/her footing and move forward. O'Shea, in my view, isn't there yet. We went to the Cup last year, only two head coaches in the league can say that. So if Walters brought in talent but O'Shea believes that the people he's selected are the best team that they can put forward, then let him do his job. If by midseason we're at still struggling, then it would be fair to sit him down and ask him what has gone wrong. Right now he can say that despite the questionable pre-season prep, injuries and Zac needing to "recalibrate" are the main reasons for the slow start. As we move forward, those excuses will fall away. At that point, Walters can call him in and give him the "What are you thinking?" speech.

I have nowhere near enough knowledge to suggest what might be wrong, but from a simple fan perspective, this team seems "off". It just doesn't look like the Bombers from a few years ago. The fire and determination just don't seem to be there. And they really don't seem to be prepared. For me, much of this has to point back to the coach. I've never met Coach O'Shea, but the way he deals with the press, who are asking questions on behalf of all of us, has always come across as very condescending. It's not something that's going to endear him to a lot of people. That's ok when we're winning, but isn't going to hold up for long if we regress. I hope he finds just a touch of humility and turns this thing around... soon.

For me, I've scratched my head a few times over roster decisions that Coach O'Shea has made, but I've always remembered that there are things that I don't know/understand, so who am I to criticize? But this last Grey Cup, he allowed injured players, who had no business being out there, to not only dress, but to start. He allowed this to happen and there was no good reason for it. I'm assuming that over the off season, someone in the organization has had a talk with him about his loyalty to his players and how sometimes you have to put winning ahead of loyalty. He's a great coach, but like all of us, has a blind spot or two that he needs to get coached up on.

I'm not sure that being told that you're not going to Regina is a bad thing.

A better analogy would be if they put the airbags on the outside of the car. Sure, it would lessen the impact forces inside the vehicle a bit, but that body slamming into the steering wheel won't notice. That extra padding on the outside of the helmet likely does help a bit, but the point is the brain bashing into the skull, repeatedly.

If someone thinks that we could get rid of the Canadian ratio, employ mostly all Americans trying to get into the NFL, and not adopt NFL rules is more than a bit delusional. Get rid of the radio and the CFL is over.

You know, if some American doesn't want to come to Canada to try out for a job in the CANADIAN football league, I'm just fine with that.

Again, it is not that cut and dried, and your comparison to a player contract is just plain silly. Apples and oranges. But I'm not going to explain all the nuances of employer/employee law to someone who believes that he knows way more than he clearly does.
