Our half time is not long, so if you want people to perform in the center of the field, you really can't have much, if any stage there. So that means that the stage has to go at one end of the stadium or the other, I'm at a loss as to where else one could put it. Don't see too much conspiracy here. Haven't they put the stage for the half time show for pretty much every other Grey Cup in the past two decades on the field? I'm pretty sure other Grey Cups have even managed to have the stage in the middle of the field. Suddenly now, in 2015 the half time is not long enough to do it? Yes, time moves faster now, or hadn't you noticed? If you hadn't, you will... trust me! I could very well be mistaken. I don't pay attention to the half time show in general, but from my recollection, if they were on the field, I really didn't notice a stage, as such. It would seem to me that having a fixed and ready stage at one end would allow for more elaborate planning of the act (pyrotechnics, lights and other "eye candy") than might otherwise be practical. On a further note, I was expressing my opinion and you have disagreed with it. This apparently makes you a very mean, mean person. But I will do my best to rise above it and not complain too much.

Wow. That's a powerful story, you need to write it down somewhere and publicate it. Somewhere far far away, preferably.

Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion
WBBFanWest replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
four grey cup appearances in 8 years two wins By my count he's had 12 years as a GM and one Cup. And just because someone on the radio happens to muse about him coming back here, that's not really something that should cause a lot of worry. By now, most football people know Brendan's M.O. - trade away draft picks like a drunken sailor, load up on aging free agents (oh, and make sure that you front load as many contracts as possible so that you can maximize your cap hell experience), take a run at the Cup and then have to dismantle the team due to age/cost and start over. Been there, done that, do not want the tee shirt. Not going to worry a ton about this scenario coming to be. -
Now when comparing the two, the difference in games played, passes attempted and completed is huge. Glenn's been doing this a long, long time. But when you look at the numbers... Glenn Nichols QB rating 89.8 82.1 Comp % 62.3 60.9 TD/Int 248/178 19/18 Rushing avg per carry 4.7 3.8 Seasons/Grey Cups 15/0 3/0 So by those stats, it can be argued that Glenn is better than Nichols, but he's not "head and shoulders" better.
-
So if you are of the opinion that ultimately the coaches will decide, what are you worried about. If they thought he was not going to work out, don't you think they'd have done something about it by now? Much ado about nothing, me thinks.
-
<insert Jim Carey "Dumb and Dumber meme> Lol, sure he has a chance. So do you or I if we are the starting QB, 1/1,000,000 maybe but it's still a chance. I'll grant that Glenn's chances are likely a little better than ours.
-
No, I really don't. At his best, Kevin Glenn was never a top tier QB, and now, he's far from his best. If you've watched him over the past little while, it's really clear that he's lost a step or two. So while he's probably better than Marsh or the other guy, he's no where near good enough to make any serious difference.
-
Actually, I'm confident that you still can't say it. I chock this one up to "desperate times call for desperate measures" and there ain't nothing more desperate than pinning your playoff hopes to Kevin "When the going gets tough, throw the pick-6 and get the heck out of there" Glenn.
-
Good for Montreal, I guess. At least they didn't give up too much. Glenn is better than anything they had, but that's like saying that Glenn is the tallest midget. If they are expecting that he's going to lead them to the playoffs, all I can say is "Prepared to be disappointed" or "Prêt à être déçu"

Bombers sign NI WR Evan Pszczonak to PR
WBBFanWest replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Oh, I'm aware of all that. I'm just suggesting that not every American has that deep down burning desire to sit in Canada for a month or two on a PR to be then sent home to see if they'll get a call to come back for a CFL TC shot in June, because that's pretty much all that would be keeping anyone on the PR at this time of year. -

Actually, I'm not surprised by PR churn at this time of the year. Sign a guy, give him a quick look and if nothing jumps out at you, cut him and move on to the next guy. At the same time, signing a guy from the States and bringing him up here to sit around for PR dollars has got to be a hard sell, because these guys know that there is almost 0 chance of them doing anything beyond auditioning for next years TC. I'm also wondering if some of these US guys aren't saying "To heck with it" and going home. If you're from the American south, I can't imagine sitting up here in the cold being paid CFL minimum wage is a lot of fun. -
The Stamps have a rider on a horse who gallops up & down the sideline after a Calgary touchdown. The redblacks have a guy dressed as a lumberjack cut through a log with a chainsaw. Lame. Lame. Lame. Ummm people, we have a guy riding a lawn tractor with wings...
-
This is good news for us and for any team that plays the Als for the rest of the season. All they have to do is stay within a touchdown of Montreal by the 4th quarter and then let the Glenn "I can deal with pressure just fine, thank you very much" magic go to work.

Why would a team give up a 3rd rounder when Lirim is a pending free agent? Well, if they think he's going to be a gooder and they want a chance to sign him before free agency, then a trade would be the way to go, right?

Bruce Johnson is absolutely NOT better than Washington. He is.NotIs. Love to see a well structured debate such as this one. Hard to decide who's right. -

Glad to hear that but how is he on the ground? Ever seen an eagle run??? I imagine slow, but very majestically. -

Personally, I see him as more of a romantic mafia type guy. -

I understand that that Steven Miller guy can really fly - like an eagle, some say. -
Glenn would make Montreal a championship caliber team in my opinion. Really? Because the name Kevin Glenn and championship caliber are not often used together, except ironically.

It's time for the Riders to start sucking ...
WBBFanWest replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
But he's friendly with the media so that means something, right? I chuckled at Taman's interviews after he got fired. Most people have the good sense to just shut up and move on, but not him. -
Stone cold call and the cajones the size of grapefruits. or desperate times call for desperate measures. Seriously, I hope that O'Shea is finally learning to coach like he played. No retreat, no surrender.
-
Rumor has it that Lirim is punting and Sergio is placekicking. Remember you heard it here first!

relentless logic and not allowing people to get out of erroneous claims? Yeah it does tend to win debates. I call debating with you more of an "arguing with the wife" style, but you can call it whatever you want.
