No, I don't think that they are actively trying to lose, it's worse. They're trying to win and too often, are failing miserably. I posted this thread tongue in cheek, but at the same time I am really disappointed in this team, especially the last game because it really didn't look like a team playing with a sense of urgency, a sense of we have to dig in and win this thing. And when they are hit with adversity, they just seem to immediately and completely fold. And that is discouraging because that speaks directly to the heart of this team, and this is a team, with the exception of the defense, that is not showing a lot of heart. And that to me is a puzzle because I had assumed that when O'Shea was hired, that, with his history, heart would never be something that we'd have to worry about with him in charge. But it's like he just assumes that everyone is wired like him, and when they are not, he doesn't know how to motivate them. And from my experience, a team with no heart, regardless of talent, will go nowhere.

O'Shea believes Bombers better than their record
WBBFanWest replied to Fatty Liver's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Gotta say that it takes a lot of chutzpah to say that after the last game. Not to mention the fact that it's a completely illogical thing to say because as others have pointed out, you are exactly as good as your record. Mike needs to work on a lot of things with this team, including, it would seem, his silly platitudes. -
What I expect is that they at least look like they are embarrassed by their performance and do everything they can to try and fix that. When I watched them play Montreal, they didn't look like that at all, especially in the first half. O'Shea himself suggested that they were flat. If they can't bring up the level of their play when they're looking at a game as important as this last one, I'd submit that there are some, more than a few, that are not "trying as hard as they can".

Be a pal and pass it on to him, would you? A few callers voiced the exact same sentiments as you on last nights CJOB Coaches Show. And I'm sure that O'Shea said that he'd have to look at the tape of the coach's show before he would be able to respond? He actually acknowledged that the players haven't been living up to expectations, and that him and the players all appreciate the Winnipeg fans in that we have a very different fan base here in Winnipeg who are extremely passionate and knowledgeable. Well then, all I can say is that they have a strange way of showing it.

Dear Blue Bombers, On Friday, September 25th, I'll be coming to Winnipeg for the game and bringing my adult son for his first ever taste of CFL football. I'm not asking you to win, but please don't stink it up like you did in Montreal. At least try and act like you actually want to put on a good show for your fans, ok? Can we do that one little thing? Also, if it's not too much to ask, could you do a public firing of Marcel Bellefeuille before the coin toss? Thanks a bunch. A loyal but very discouraged fan.

Hate to pile on, but no, MB's offences did not look really good. They looked adequate at best. All MB needs for success is to have the very best people perform at near flawless levels and then, he looks like a good OC. Of course one could also describe that situation as very skilled people doing well despite of the system, not because of it. MB needs to go at season's end if O'Shea wants any chance of being the HC of the Bombers beyond this year. It might be too late for that even now, but my gut tells me that if O'Shea dumps MB asap after season's end, he'll be kept around for the start of 2016. If MB is still on the payroll by December, I'm thinking that Walters has little choice but to pull the plug on the whole thing.

wow- we suck. why have sucked for so long?
WBBFanWest replied to Wanna-B-Fanboy's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
LOL, ya because in a clutch game when the chips are down, you just know that Glenn's gonna pick up the team, put it on his shoulders and then boldly march it down to the 20 or so. Then throw a pick. He's not called Mr. Dependable (by opposition DB's) for nothing you know. -
Well, they might not formally say "We want Walters and only Walters", but they can certainly encourage him to apply and let him know that they would be really really pleased to see his application come in. Then they can do a couple of token interviews with other people and find out, surprise surprise, that Walters is just the guy they've been looking for. Happens quite often. Sort of like when the Bombers hired Walters after their "exhaustive" search throughout the CFL for the very best GM candidate possible. I've always marvelled how lucky the Bombers were that the very guy that they needed just happened to already be in the building.

But what if he can't make trades because of his poor interpersonal skills? Lawless said he rough around the edges. Ya, we need some smooth as silk guy. Someone like Wally Buono.

Umm, no. His history showed exactly what kind of OC he was and last year just demonstrated more of the same. You hire mediocrity, don't be surprised when you get mediocrity. MB has been and always will be mediocre. A smart football mind recognizes this. Might that have been a reason his was available mid-season in 2013?He was still getting paid by Hamilton at the time and was on a tour of NFL camps to further his knowledge of offences.Yea, I've heard that excuse before. Let me just say that if he was a top notch coordinator, he would not have been on the market long. Look at Richie Hall and others. You get to have time off because no one really thinks you'd be an upgrade over what they already have. Except for us, we managed to hire an OC so bad that MB was actually a step up and then we decided (incredibly) that he was good enough to keep. It's sad when mediocre is good enough instead of "good enough until we can get a real OC" Bellefuille was coaching in Omaha in 2012. And look at Lapo and others. Lapo was considered a pretty good OC but wants to be a HC so he has turned down OC positions offered since he was fired here. And that explains why MB was willing to come here mid season as a "consultant"? Not really understanding why people seem to be trying to find excuses for why he was out of the CFL except for the obvious and simple reason: No one wanted him because they believed they had better. Not because MB was excited to be coaching in arena league or was holding out for a HC position. In 2013 he was on his sabbatical touring NFL camps when Wade called him. "sabbatical" - CFL dictionary defines this as: "No one's interested"

Players can and do get hurt, but at the same time, MB seems to have a gladiator mentality concerning the health of his QB's. Hiring an offensive coordinator that has experience is usually a good thing, but when said experience shows that the OC is mediocre at best, then O'Shea should have had the smarts to replace MB after last year instead of giving him yet one more year to see how many 5 yr curls he can call and how many of his QB's can be carted off the field. O'Shea the player > O'Shea the coach.

Me too, we can always use another butt in the stands, but I'm betting that he'd want the Bombers to pay for the seat and give him access to their corporate wifi so he can continue to check out his NFL options during the game. Priorities, don't ya know.

Dang, I was so looking forward to Henoc and his 6 game "be grateful that I'll wear your jersey until the off season and I try and get back into the NFL" signing. Good on you Ian. Welcome back.

Except that if you look at Moore's first three years in BC, you'll see that each year was trending upwards, the third year dramatically so. Of course that would be what Walters used to make his decision to acquire Moore. What else would you suggest he do? Wait until he's strung a whole bunch of dominating seasons together, then hope that he'll get to free agency? He signed him because he showed real production and was only getting better. To me, that's exactly when you go after a guy like that. And the issues he's faced since joining us have not been things that Walters could have anticipated. Since being with us, he's battled injury issues, MB issues and this year Brohm/Marve issues. So yes, there are problems, but again, without a time machine, Walters did what made sense at the time. I'm sure that when negotiations come up, salary will be adjusted accordingly.

Henoc on his way to Hamilton & Toronto for visit

And you lecture too much. It is a lecture to tell grown adults to stop feeling personally offended by someone doing something which should have no tangible impact on their life? Hilarious that you make such a comment when lecturing Muamba on how to live his life. Here is some reality: 1. You are an adult, sports is entertainment, stop allowing it to impact your life. You aren't on the team. 2. Some here take their opinions, and professional sports far too seriously. 3. Henoc Muamba can take a day, a month, a year, or 10 years to do whatever he wants, his life, he can do it the way he wants, and he isn't wrong. He didn't ask for, nor does he care, nor should he care, what anybody thinks about how he is going about it. Goes onto a sports forum, tells people to not worry so much about sports. Good luck with that. But here's the deal as I see it: You are absolutely right when you say that Henoc can take as much time as he wants and use whatever strategy he likes in making his decision. But at the same time, I'm free to come on this board and give my opinion about it. It's sort of why these sites exist. So again, in my opinion, I think his process is a farce, just like I think that your opinion on posting is way off base. -
Only 10 minutes of scrimmage and still giving Brohm reps. WTF? Because, like it or not, Brohm is the backup right now. Realistically, there is no one else who could really step in if Nichols couldn't go in. There's no way Boyd's going to be ready yet (or for a while) nor is the guy who's name escapes me, but was #4 on the depth chart. Like it or not, for the next few games at the very least, it's Nichols - Brohm.

Noticed in the second one that Buck still doesn't move around much in the pocket and he's holding on to the phone way too long. Guess some people never learn.

I understand that both Argo fans are outraged by this. The Argos really didn't think this through because if they had moved the game to Hamilton, they could have rented a cab and given all their fans a free trip to the game. Missed marketing opportunity there.
