  1. So just so I know, how many times will you have to be told that the BoD had NOTHING to do with any of those hires except for Wade Miller?
  2. Wasn't Greaves a defensive tackle? I find it hard to believe that he was drafted with the intent of him playing tackle. As long as this guy's arms? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Uvt83YWWWY
  3. Well, the BoD can always make policies for the organization, especially in matters of money, so yes, they could put in place a requirement for board approval prior to releasing someone with X dollars or Y time remaining on a contract. I wouldn't recommend that that sort of thing should come to the board for a decision, but it would be fair game to have to get the CEO's ok. I mean, imagine if the Walters felt that O'Shea had lost the room and he needs to go now. So he sends a request to the board through Miller to ask permission to fire O'Shea. What if the board says no? Now he's stuck with an employee that he doesn't want. Secondarily, you can be sure that O'Shea will find out and maybe the press too. Now you have a really tricky problem. So I'd hope that the board would maintain a hand off approach for personnel matters, excluding the CEO position. And in the matter of Mack being hired, the CEO had left, so by default the board has to hire the most senior operations manager. That's not really that unusual. Nor is splitting out the responsibilities of senior managers. So it's fine for the board to say "Bell is in charge of business stuff, Mack is in charge of football ops and both will report to us." A bit unwieldy, but I've seen that done before, especially in times of transition like that. Clearly they recognized the need for one person to have overall control and that's why they ended up hiring Buchko as CEO. Whether they made the right hire is really not part of this discussion but clearly, the board later decided that they had erred and corrected that. So nothing you have described is what I would call "meddling". I understand that Bauer liked to meddle in the football ops stuff and that is very problematic and the board at the time should have make it clear to him that he should either knock it off or if he really felt that he could do the job better than the GM, then he should get rid of the GM and do the job himself. For that the board should have stepped in. maybe they did or maybe they didn't. I really can't say.
  4. A board of directors for any professional organization does not ever meddle in day to day affairs. Do you think, for example, that the members of the board of directors for IBM are all computer experts and make the decisions to decide which products get developed and how to design them? No. They hire a CEO. He doesn't do that stuff either. He hires the experts that oversee the departments that do those things. That's how businesses work. The Bombers board likely does care about the bottom line and making sure that bottom lines are being taken care of, in other words, profits. But they also know that the Bombers are an entertainment business and nothing sells tickets and generates income better than success on the field. They'll be asking the CEO what plans are in place to "increase productivity" (ie. win more) and if they aren't satisfied with his answers and steps are not being taken, then they will look at him. Not the GM, not the coach, because the GM and HC do NOT answer directly to the board. It will be left to the CEO to look at the GM and for the GM to look at the HC and his staff. It's called a chain of command and it's used because it works. So screaming about the BoD will do nothing because the on field product is not controlled by them at all, and it never will be. Every year it seems we have two or three people who want to rage about the Board and demand that they get involved without understanding that that will never ever happen, nor should it.
  5. Do you really think MOS is going to say at his presser, "Yes, if we don't win this week and the offense still sucks, I'm firing Marcel"? First i don't think MOS has the power to fire anyone he may have a say but management controls that part of the team. And yes it would be a breathe of fresh air if MOS would light a fire under this team because being everyone's friend is not working How about saying "The team has to have a better showing or their will be more jobs on the line including mine."? Why do you need to say that when everyone in every sport everywhere knows that's true without it having to be said? Because it shows a pulse. It's a **** lot better than the deer in the headlights response he gives currently. He was supposed to be the accountability coach and it be nice to see some of that. No it doesn't. I watched the clip on the bombers website this afternoon, he said quite a bit in there. I don't see what the problem is other than some people want the ranting and raving like the lunatic fan base. I don't want ranting. I want evidence things are changing and the firing of Tracy is not enough. I want evidence he understands how poorly his team is showing and that he has the brains to walk off the field and discuss the game without having to watch film to see what's wrong. Show us something that says he understands the play is not good enough and that continuing to do little to nothing isn't good enough. And stop ******* smirking on the sidelines as the team is self destructing. Have you actually watched he video? You should. http://bluebombers.com/video/index/id/115915
  6. I watched the presser video on O'Shea announcing Tracy's firing and I took a few things away from it: - When asked about the offence there was not one word about confidence or support for MB - O'Shea actually acknowledged that things aren't working - None of this we're moving in the right direction crap - He didn't try too much of his non answer answer stuff or his "I don't see it that way" response when some of the bad stuff got pointed out - It's clear that he's feeling the heat and knows that the clock is running down. He used to play well under pressure, now let's see if he can coach that way too It's just too bad that it's had to get this bad before his started actually being real during these interviews, but hey, maybe he's learning.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised to see Marcel hang on until the end of the year. Further to what 17to85 said, by firing our STC I'm thinking that O'Shea won't want to bring more instability to the team right now. So MB's likely here for a few more games at minimum, and if we happen to win one of those, he's probably here until the end of the season. Let's just hope that he's gone the week after the season ends so that a search for the next guy can start asap. Hopefully, they'll look at someone who's a good OC and can also act as an interim HC because I have a feeling that come 2016, that might be a handy guy to have around.
  8. Should the punt go into the middle? Probably not. Should you expect a pro level special teams squad to be prepared to cover in that eventuality? I sorta hope that we could've
  9. Walters has done quite well winning auctions for Bryant, Westerman and Waggoner hopefully his luck continues with Henoc and or Wild. Walters had done quite poorly losing auctions for Collaros, Burris, Lemon, and SVR. Just saying...it's not like he's got the magic touch or something. He loses as many auctions as he wins. We NEED this one. An addition like Henoc would invigorate our organization right now. It's a watershed moment for Walters. You do realize that no GM, especially in these days of salary cap, wins every or even most auctions, right. You offer what you feel you can giving the need, the current roster cost and contingencies and then see if someone else offers more. Then there's the point of some players simply wanting to play in a certain town or for a certain coach etc. To suggest that Walters should have signed every free agent he had his eye on is setting a unreasonably high bar. And I'm not saying that Walters doesn't deserve criticism, because he does, but this might not be the best issue to use.
  10. MB sucks...but it's hard to blame him for having to gameplan around Brohm as his starter. There isn't a coordinator in the CFL past or present that was going to be able to do anything of value with him, Your argument would have merit if this was the first time that MB has struggled as an OC, but seeing that struggling is what he's done best over his entire career, it's hard to pin that on Brohm. Brohm just makes the issue easier to see. Anyway, that's two of his initial three coordinator picks fired with MB clearly heading down the same road. Not a shrewd judge of coaching talent, our young Mike. <edited for typo>
  11. I'm sure you have never input the wrong word while typing in your life, right? Sorry, but I not never make mistakes.
  12. Just a quick note for another chronologically challenged person: April Fool's isn't a holiday.
  13. Ya, I can see how you can easily confuse when you last talked with Buono. I do it all the time.
  14. I remember talking with Bud Grant back in the 60's about it. His reply was "What the hell is an internet?".
  15. I love to go to the video page on the Bomber website and look at the stills for the pre-game and post game interviews. O'Shea smiling in the first, then with "oh my god, what the hell just happened" look.
  16. That's because the D sucked from the midpoint of the first quarter on, I really don't know which game some of you were watching? Ya, the D has clearly been the issue this year. No issues with the offence at all. I bow to the football acumen of the guy that wants MB to be the head coach.
  17. The thing that really got me angry was O'Shea's post game interview where he said that he was disappointed the the D didn't respond better. That if they are out on the field a lot then they need to rise to the challenge. HELLO McFLY... did you happen to notice your offence out there??? You dump on the D for not rising to the challenge, but you fail to mention that there are 2 other groups out there sucking way worse that the D. If I was Hall, I'd be in his face as soon as he left the dressing room. I gave up on him right then and there. Hiring a rookie GM who then hires a rookie head coach was a really dumb move, Said it then, saying it again. I'd hope a more experienced GM would take his HC aside, slap him upside the head and tell him to fix the stuff that's the most broken, namely the O and the ST. Sadly, I think they're going to try and limp along to season's end and then O'Shea will do his "soul seaching walk in the snow" moment in December and then, in January announce that, sadly, he's going to have to let MB go. A whole repeat of the Etch fiasco. And that means that we'll likely be stuck with Mr. "Gotta watch the film" for yet another year.
  18. I would take this kind of post from you more seriously if you made the same excuses for Marve. You didn't. You chose to crap all over him instead. Marve wasn't 21 of 26 for 184 yards. If you really think brohm was the problem I suggest you watch again. What did Brohm do out there? Dinking 3 yard passes? hey great job. Just you ever pause for a moment and reflect on the fact that maybe the short passes were the called plays by the OC? Brohm is clearly not the answer, but let's be a little bit rational.
  19. And BROOM goes the dynamite...
  20. You obviously didn't hear about the unfortunate dumpster fire at the stadium. It appears that's where they were storing those jerseys.
  21. In Saskatchewan, it becomes a date.
  22. Actually yes he did. He won the cup by doing what he tried to do here, trade away draft picks for aging Americans, load up on free agents, and build up to what we got in 2007. A shot at the cup. We lost, but in 2013 it finally paid off after how many tries? And now we see the result of his strategy in Regina, same as here when he left. A completely depleted roster which will take a long time to recover from. He's a mediocre GM (at best) flying by the seat of his pants, looking no further than the end of the year. No thanks.
  23. By the way, it's easy to crap on the Bombers because if you're right you can say "Told ya so." and if you're wrong you can proclaim how proud you are of the team and hope that most posters forget the earlier crapspew. Pretty simple strategy really.
  24. So is Crunch posting under an alias now? Spreading the gloom around before he graces the Eskies with his joyful presence?
