  1. Good to hear. Now if we can just sign Curran.
  2. So then I really can't figure out how Glenn has lasted this long. Other than people thinking that Kevin Glenn 2015 is still KG 2007, which he isn't.Or, crazy thought here, you're selling Glenn short because of a personal bias against the player he is average at best and this is the CFL. There is a drought at quality qbs Absolutely he is average, but average to some people apparently means bad. You can do worse at backup than Kevin Glenn and the Bombers have done worse since basically Kevin Glenn was a backup here there first time, that's a decade. Hell they've done worse than Kevin Glenn as a starter for most of the last decade too. Yes, you can do a lot worse than Kevin Glenn, but you can also do better too. Maybe the Bombers have decided that settling for mediocre and hoping for the best is one of the rasons we've been so bad for so long? Is it possible that maybe they see a higher potential upside with the people we had here last year? For most of the past decade mediocre would be an upgrade at qb so don't give me that crappy argument. So by your logic, because we were less than mediocre, we should be content getting to it? Remind me never to invite you to give the inspirational speech before a big game. "Remember this men, there's mediocrity in each one of you, I know there is. Get out there and show them just how mediocre you can be!"

  4. So then I really can't figure out how Glenn has lasted this long. Other than people thinking that Kevin Glenn 2015 is still KG 2007, which he isn't. Or, crazy thought here, you're selling Glenn short because of a personal bias against the player Or, another crazy thought here, some of us realize that Glenn just isn't all that good anymore. By way of example, BC is a team that will be needing someone to back up Lulay. They went out and got Glenn just for that purpose, saw what he was capable of, and cut him, even though they are really no better off, backup wise, than they were one year ago. What then does that tell you? Tells me that people, a whole lot more knowledgeable than you or I, recognized that he's past his best before date and they'd rather find someone else, even if that someone has a whole lot less experience. But ya, it's clearly because of personal bias
  5. Funny that you didn't unleash this same logic in the Glenn thread. Because we're talking inexperienced rookies at qb in the Glenn thread. We had experienced OL & they still sucked. Asking a rookie qb with limited experience to carry the team on his back if he has to is just asking for trouble. So apples to oranges. Ummm, no. He's suggesting that these experienced O linemen might not live up to expectactions. That their performance might not be all that we're hoping for. Which is the same sort of logic that could be applied to Glenn, that maybe he wouldn't be the savior of the season if he played. Anyway, sorry for hijacking the thread, but the irony was just too good to pass up. What irony? Having more faith in an experienced and proven qb over an inexperienced one? Did I say I didn't think the OL was improved? No I just said let's wait for them to prove it before we start calling them best in the league because it takes 5 guys working together for an OL to be good. Tempering expectations has nothing to do with thinking Glenn is a better option at #2 qb for the short term than Marve. Go chug another glass of haterade and keep on hating on Glenn. Fact is he's still a decent qb for all his warts. No hateorade here, just know what I see when I see Glenn. A decent qb when everything's going his way, but only when things are going his way. That's sort of why he's been the vagabond qb, what you see is definitely what you get.
  6. But if Glenn had won it, it would have been one of the greatest exhibitions of quarterbacking in the history of football. Ya, I know how this drill works.
  7. Looks like Glenn won't be coming to Winnipeg YES!!!!!!! Halle-freaking-lujah
  8. iso you do understand that Glenn does not provide "insurance" if he plays like he so often does. You also realize that he's now a year older and that "experience" is such that BC, a team that could really use a quality backup, had Glenn and cut Glenn. What does that say about him? You're simply hoping, nothing more, that Glenn will give us more that Marve, but you have no way of knowing if that's the case. None at all. And yes, Glenn has two Cup appearances. Remind me again what his record is as a Cup starter, would you?

  11. Trust me, I will never, ever, say "shoulda signed Glenn" unless, of course, we are talking about who the Bombers should get as the Official Doughnut Supplier for the O Line.
  12. So with Glenn, we maybe, somehow, back into the playoffs and then watch him crash and burn in the first game? It's like you Glenn supporters are stuck in a 2007 time warp. The Glenn of 2014 is the Glenn of today. The Glenn of 2007 is gone and he ain't coming back.Who says we'd need him for the playoffs? Willy could get injured for a few games during the season. Who would you prefer starting games during a 3-4 game stretch; Marve or Glenn? Glenn could be the difference between making the playoffs or not. Hopefully, Saskatchewan will sign him soon. Of course that will just postpone the "we gotta have Glenn" debate until the end of 2015, when they cut him.

  14. replace the word "hat" with "camo jersey" and this almost exactly duplicates an experience I had in the Bomber Store last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzPsdkTCufs
  15. So you have four of the camo abominations from last year?
  16. Seems like a pretty obvious answer to your rhetorical question...however, it is unlikely to be. Simple truth is that if it was a QB not named Kevin Glenn with the identical resume, people would be clamoring for us to sign him. You know what? A name is just a name. If you took the Ford Pinto and called it the Ford Conqueror, it wouldn't change the fact that the car still has "issues". So having the name Pinto just makes it easier to know what your in store for if you buy it. Likewise with Kevin Glenn, it's not the name, any qb with the same record and the same level of post season "success" would not be someone I'd be clamoring for. The name Glenn just lets you know that like a Pinto, he'll get you part of the way there, but inevitably, it's going to blow up.
  17. It's many factors....one of the biggest is downplaying every loss he's ever had and blaming something...anything....other than himself. No credibility. No leadership. No drive. No to KG. No to mediocrity in this, the longest current Grey Cup drought. It's a shame you had to miss the 2007 season. It was pretty good, for the most part... It's interesting that people always bring up 2007. That was eight years ago. Let's look at his 2014 highlight reel to see the KG of today, shall we?
  18. Well, maybe we'll find out that Marve or Brohm rise to the challenge, or maybe they won't. The point is that we already know what will happen with Glenn, so why waste the money on an "experienced backup" that will only show them that when the going gets tough, throw a pick and get off the field.
  19. I don't know where you're getting your information from, but I think Kevin Glenn is straight...and married. Unless you mean having a cup of coffee. Not exactly predicting the future there man. Way to post the obvious. I think that Kevin's the guy ion the background trying to decide if he can afford a doughnut AND a small coffee.
  20. If this were 2011-12 I would agree with you. 2015 KG not so much. All I'm saying is a year ago a lot of guys were happy to pick up Burris LOL. KG at the right price (150-175k) wouldn't be so bad. Do you really think marve or portis is going to perform better than kg? Do you really think that Glenn is going to perform better than either of those guys if we happen to get into the playoffs? If Glenn's the starter at the end of the season, we're done, so what's the point?
  21. Kevin Glenn, the zombie qb that just won't die, except during the playoffs. No thanks.
  22. Hey, here's something fun for you to try. Print out a picture of the Bombers helmet and ask 100 Winnipeggers which team's helmet is in the picture. Then, if you have a bit more free time, try doing that at various points elsewhere in Canada. See how many say U of Washington. Get back to us on the results, would you?
  23. Yes, the team does listen to the fans. And yes, we do monitor forums, mostly to make sure we can dispel false information that's being spoken about as fact. However, first off, it's not a decision made by the "Marketing department" to change the uniform colors. Secondly, yes, we are well aware that a segment of fans wants the team to go back to royal blue full time. Thirdly, it's not as easy as just "deciding" to make a change and then doing it. There are far more factors that would go into a move like that than just making a decision a couple of months before the season and swapping jerseys. It would have to be approved at a variety of levels, and then there would be a substantial cost to switching over all of the team gear, down to the most minute pieces of equipment. If a color scheme switch is going to happen, it's a decision that's made thoughtfully and carefully at higher levels than just the "Marketing department", with consideration given to all of those factors and many, many more. Yes, the royal blues are gorgeous and we know a lot of fans love them. But to suggest the team isn't listening to its fans, or that we "know best" as you put it, just because the royal blues haven't been brought back as the primary jersey is a terribly unfair characterization of the situation when there is substantially more to it than that. But thanks for your input! A quick translation: We really don't listen too much because we know that there are enough of you out there that will buy whatever we offer you. After all, you keep buying stuff that you hate (I really can't believe some of you bought that dreck "signature jersey" last year) and of course, you keep buying season tickets. But thanks for your input because we really value it. Sure we do. Honest.
  24. For what it's worth, I hope he doesn't pay a lot of attention to what anonymous internet posters say about him because, really, who gives a flying fig what we think? The only people he needs to worry about are his coaches and teammates.
  25. "very aggressive" might mean throwing things around the office if Heenan doesn't sign.
