And so, having said this, you actually suggest that we could trade Nichols? Even though, as several people pointed out, he can't be traded now in any case. That's some deep level thinking right there!

This^^^ I'm astounded by the "smart football fans" that think that this is a nothing game and we need to start auditioning players for next year. Give your bloody heads a shake people.

Might the fact that in colder weather people tend to not drink as much cold liquid be a part of the equation? Sort of like why the sale of hot chocolate tends to be minimal in July and August but starts to climb in September?

Not sure that O'Shea wants this leaking out, but seeing that I know I can trust you guys to keep this under your hats:

Clearly, to know you is to love you...

Doing those things simultaneously would be incredibly difficult.

It has been 30 years. So what? Why do people keep bringing that up when talking about this regime? They are not responsible for 30 years. They're responsible for 6, and the first two of those was righting the organization. So really, we're looking at the past four. Know who else hasn't won in the last four years? The Bombers and four other teams, in other words, the majority of the teams in the CFL. I swear to god that the next guy that mentions the "30 year drought" and the current organization should have this happen to him:

Rider fans complaining about our attendance on Saturday

Why is this troll ^^ still posting here? People, please do not engage and hopefully, real soon (cough *mods * cough) he'll be gone -

We know, numbers are hard.

Always find it funny when armchair experts cone on and demand that their opinions be discussed as if their musings are just so darned insightful. It might not be a lack of "balls" that stops people from talking with you. Maybe, they just don't care what you think.
-
Because you're not really interested in an answer. Pro tip: When the mods here tell us to chill and you respond like that, you're going to generate 0 respect for anything else you have to say.

Here's the thing: I don't know if Streveler should be our starter next year, but I find it odd that people are expecting a guy who's seen very limited time as a starter to have issues with decision making. You can't expect him to be 24 and play like he's 30. You learn to make good decisions by making some bad ones. Personally, I like a guy who's willing to take a chance here and there. So maybe, give him some time but expect a hiccup or two along the way.

I'm not sure they're going to give him anything hot to hold. Too risky.

Yay, Kyle did something. We can keep him upright as long as he never sees the field and the backup O lineman keeps people from bumping up against him on the sidelines. Might want to bubble wrap the clip board too. Can't be too careful.

See if the mayor of Bangkok would be willing to explore having Climax, Saskatchewan as a twin city. I sense marketing opportunities...

I'm concerned that maybe its "I have to look like I'm doing something."

I think that you're changing the goal posts in this discussion. You initially suggested that GM's can hire/fire the coordinators to now saying that there is collaboration. Of course there's collaboration but in the CFL, it's been my observation that HC's pick their staff except in extremely unusual circumstances, like joining a team part way through a season. I acknowledge that this may change with the new rules regarding a salary cap for coaches.

Doing something to help with our QB situation is good. Doing something to be seen "doing something" isn't. Collaros didn't even last a full series with the Riders, so there's serious doubts in my mind if we're expecting him to last a few games plus the playoffs. One good contact with the field surface and we're out a QB plus whatever assets we traded away. Unless the Argo's are willing to take a small bag of old kicking tees, I'd pass.

T-shirt canon operator might be a good fit.

I've been wanting to ask, how do you know that the CEO only reports to the BoD once a year? I've been on more than a few boards, and I've never seen anything even remotely like that. Also, a CEO is largely self directed, because he's the "expert" and a board is normally not. Also, in my experience, a football CEO would not be involved in stadium management, concessions or operations because they would hire people to manage those things.
-
Ummm, as far as I know, GM's pick their HC and the HC hires/fires all other coaches. And I'm pretty sure that the HC decides the types/philosophies of those working under him. I'm sure that a GM provides some insight, but because the actions of the assistant coaches directly affects the HC's livelihood, it only goes to follow that the HC would want to make sure that the buck stops with him. What you're describing results on a "double reporting" org chart where a person has two different bosses to report to. Those just don't work.
-
It is the HC's job to select his staff. It is the GM's job to manage the HC. If you are a GM that is so concerned that the HC is incapable of doing his job properly, you don't do it for him, you replace him. Forcing coordinators on a head coach is just setting him up for failure because the coordinators will then know that they really work for the GM.

Ya, a 0% Kevin Glenn plan works best, so we're already there!
