  1. Yes, but if he left: Who would start new threads? Who would ask all the questions? What would the Patriots think? Would they be happy? Would they be sad? What of the children?
  2. You're right on Brock. My mistake.
  3. We're starting Neufeld at tackle due to two injuries. He's the third level of depth. You'd have to be pretty thick not to expect a drop in play from the third guy in.. Brock on the other hand was a starter. Bit of a difference.
  4. Pro Tip: When you screw up and dig yourself into a hole, stop digging. And now for the metaphoriclly impaired Saskatchewan folks: When ya dun screwed up, y'all better shut it.
  5. Well, for one thing, we're not having to start Canadians like Brock Ralph.
  6. Walters, as GM, takes ownership of the overall product delivered to the HC and who that HC is. The HC however is responsible to drive that product and to advise the GM on issues concerning the lineup. So O'Shea is responsible for taking the tools that he's given and using them as effectively as possible, effectiveness ultimately being measured in wins/losses. So the record rests firstly upon the shoulders of the HC. The GM's job is to decide when the HC's ability to use the tools he's been given are insufficient and are unlikely to improve . Then the GM replaces the HC. If an argument can be made that the GM has not provided the HC with the best tools he can, then the HC needs to express that, quite clearly to the GM. Of course, the GM will ultimately have the final say on personnel, but only a fool would fail to take note of issues that the HC has identified. Unfortunately, replacing a GM means that very likely the HC is gone too, but such is life. If the issue is clearly with the quality of players being brought in, then the president needs to step in and replace the GM. Personally, in this case, I don't think Walkers has done a bad job. He's made some mistakes, and has some issues with scouting Americans, but I really believe that this team that he has put together should be performing better than their record would indicate. That being the case, I really don't think that the GM is the main issue. The problem lies downstream and that means that the finger squarely points at the HC.
  7. While there are things to like about O'Shea, especially from a player's perspective, I think that there might be something to the idea that him not having deep roots in the US is not helpful. Our GM does a good job with the Canadian talent and that's critical in the CFL, but Walters doesn't appear to have those deep American connections either. I had assumed that the people he hired to do US scouting did, but when it comes to unearthing overlooked talent, especially at receiver, we seem to have a disconnect and I can't help but wonder if an American HC would make a difference. I think that O'Shea has just about reached his best before date. He's shown, I think, that he just doesn't seem to have that ability to reach the next level, and he's had 5 years to do so. I'm in the camp of those who are hoping that should we, at minimum, fail to win a playoff game, he needs to go and next time, a HC with deeper roots in the US.
  8. I agree. I had to spend an entire 30 seconds reading it. Maybe we should just all move to twitter and be done with it. Language sucks.
  9. You fire a head coach when he does not perform to expectations, or stops performing to expectations; "loses the room" is a symptom, not the disease. In fact, if you wait until then, you've waited too long. The coordinators are O'Shea's. If they fail, he fails. O'Shea needs to starting producing NOW. Playoff win or bust.
  10. I've met Walby. I always suspected he shares a brain.
  11. Do you think Adam Bighill is a middling player? Not every player on Toronto was middling. The same holds true for the Bombers.
  12. The Argonauts are only the latest example of a team winning when it had no reason to believe to should. Want another example? How about the 2016 Redblacks. I do acknowledge that one should not count on the underdog winning, but there is a reason that the game is played before the Cup is awarded. And as for the information concerning Earl Grey.... uhhhh, thanks?
  13. Toronto Argonauts say hi.
  14. You do understand that each season is separate, right. Realistically you can, at best, only use the seasons that this regime has been here to compare with. This team has nothing to do with the Kelly/Mack years, for example, so why would you hold this group responsible for the sins of the past. That's just lazy thinking.
  15. Wow. So maybe we should just save some money and forfeit the game then?

  18. Wow, that's a bold prediction!
  19. I agree too. When a defense is struggling, there is nothing better than to play people out of their positions because there's no way that anything could possibly go wrong with that strategy.
  20. I would assume that Walters is not in "quiet discussions" with anyone, seeing that the head coach hires/fires this coordinators. Personnel stuff must be a dark art. So many people have zero clue about how this sort of stuff works.
  21. Having once been as heavy as Wiley is now, and having had to deal with this all of my life, let me just say that it's a bit more complicated than "bad choices". But hey, if looking at people's appearances and then judging them is your thing, have fun!
  22. If I were HC, I would have the offence score as many points as possible. At the same time, I would have the defense do everything possible to limit the scoring by the other team. I'd stress that if we can score more points than them over the course of the game, we stand a good chance of winning.
