While again, I really don't have an issue with a player deciding to sit out the remainder of a contract, I will point out that it is somewhat unusual for a guy with less than a full season under his belt to expect that he should be entitled to be released/renegotiate just because he feels he should. If he was a veteran player that had built up a reputation as a solid player, maybe, As for the idea that a team can cancel a contract at anytime, while it might not seem fair, it is simple supply and demand economics. Nine CFL teams versus hundreds of players that couldn't get into the NFL but still want to play means that the CFL holds most of the cards. Not fair? Maybe, but again, everyone knows the rules going in. Wilder is prepared to sit out and that's his right. The Argos can refuse to allow him out of his contract, that's their right. I agree with you completely on the tampering stuff. I'm confident that it happens all the time so no one should pretend shock or outrage.

Personally, I have no issue with someone who decides to sit out. There are risks involved. Maybe it will work out, maybe it won't. There are risks in playing. If he's decided that the risks of sitting out are less than the risks of playing, so be it. He knows his situation better than anyone. Having said that, I won't shed a tear for anyone who makes $50,000 (plus food and lodging) for half a year, even in TO. There are lots of people who make that amount (or less) annually without any of the perks, and have a family. I'm betting that TO has them too. That's the reality of things. Good luck to Mr. Wilder.

How is that ironic? You think that rookies should be able to come in for one year and then hit the free market? That might be helpful for a guy like Wilder, but for the average CFL rookie it means that he's not going to have a lot of bargaining power after one year of developing on a PR or riding the bench. Just going to be more of a head ache for him and for the GM's. Two years is called paying your dues. Pay them, demonstrate your worth (or potential worth) and then you're in a better position to negotiate.

Lol, that news anchor, Kevin Evans tried to pull a fast one on me when he interviewed me in about 1978-79. I could remember his face but I couldn't remember his name. Thanks for posting that!

Well, I'm thinking his strategy might look something like this: Hey, wanna play middle linebacker? We'll pay you this much. I think that this is the standard strategy used in this sort of thing.

Anything said about Mudruckers?

10 minutes might be a tad generous.

I'm guessing that your doctorate came in the mail from the Caribbean?

We have Dressler and he's built as close to the turf as you can get, so maybe, this all works out.

Ah dang. we missed 10 solid minutes of football talk (and 110 minutes of foundation repair info)!

Contrarian gotta contrary...

Bad timing is one of the defining characteristics of his whole career!

I'm thinking that not signing Glenn will make signing our DB's a whole lot easier because salary < salary+stat padding

I'm thinking that a barrel of girl monkeys might be the simplest solution.

but other than that...

I understand that the Defensive Back Association of Canada voted Kevin Glenn "Best Quarterback Ever".
-
If the HoF has either a "backup QB's" section or a "He sure hung around a long time" wing, then Glenn should be in consideration. If however, being in the Hall means that you had a career that had significant impact on the game and you were someone who stood out year after year, then how in the world would you justify putting in a guy who for the majority of career was described by the fact that he was the best of the left overs?

Top 10 Greatest Bomber Moments of All Time

This will always be one of my top ten: -
You can tell because the CFL camel is longer and wider.

Until it matters

How would taking a big step back literally make that any easier?
-
I'd agree with the challenge rule. I think that if player goes down after the play is whistled in then they should receive a delay of game penalty and that player is gone for minimum 6 plays.
-
Meh. I've done over 400 lbs. Not all at once but hey, 75lbs X 6 is 450!

So, you're suggesting that we move to flag football? Because that's the only way you can have any hope of removing head to head hits. Deliberate hits to the head or leading with the head? I agree completely. Immediate ejection. Subsequent infractions get ejection and suspensions, but you can never remove incidental helmet to helmet contact in a sport where 24 guys are colliding with each other at high speed.
