Step 2 would be winning it. I'm reasonably happy with the fact that we are now have a team that can be expected to be in the playoffs. For a lot of teams, that was never really an issue, but it was for us. We seem to be over that hurdle. With a proper DC scheme, a legitimate MAC and one more quality receiver, I really think we're there.

Bombers Re-sign Neufeld and Hardrick
WBBFanWest replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Shouldn't we check with TBurg before saying that? -
Actually, history does bear that out. If you check over the past 27 years, 100% of the time, the team that won the Grey Cup had qualified for the playoffs. Just because we haven't won it doesn't make it less true. However, getting to the playoffs, especially in a 9 team league in which 6 will qualify, should simply be step one . We're getting step one done now. Next is step two...

I was hoping you'd let it out and say something like: "I think that with Paul LaPolice as our Offensive Coordinator, we are Grey Cup contenders and I'm thankful we have him, even though I pretend I really don't like him, due to feelings that we really don't have to get into."
-
So that includes LaPolice? Come on, say it. You know you want to.

You're right. I don't think he ever said he was happy with the defense. I did like the questions that were being asked, but I wish that when he talked about 100 takeaways in 2 years, someone would have pointed out that while we did have a good number of them this year, there was a sharp decline (17 I think) between 2016 and 2017. So even the thing that he's most happy about saw a pretty significant drop this year. Would have been nice to hear how he'd respond to that. When you look at the way O'Shea usually goes out of his way to not speak ill of any situation or person, the fact that he said that there were some problems that need to get fixed tells me that he's laying the ground work for a change. If he really didn't think that, we would have gotten a shrug and a "we'll look at the tape, but I'm not overly worried" response.

Jeez Louise, he's already replaced OC's that weren't performing, but ya, he's stubborn about that stuff.
-
To be clear, there's an error in the title of the CBC report. There is no indication that Hall is coming back, just that he's currently under contract for 2018.
-
O'Shea has been head coach for three years. Want to guess how many coordinators he's let go during that time?
-
Well, I'm glad that you're 100% behind your statements. Being firm in your opinion won't magically make you right, but hey, fight the good fight!
-
The problem with being delusional is that you really can't see the delusion. Here's a little tip,: if everyone else is wrong and you're right, maybe it's not them.

Let me know when you find a time machine because I have a few places I want to go back to too.

And, there it is... 12-6

If we weren't the top team in points scored (with defensive points removed) I'm willing to bet we'd be in the top 3. Can you show me a page where it shows defensive points generated because I couldn't find one. And no, we had, statistically a much poorer showing defensively than we did offensively, so the first coordinator problem (and only one, in my opinion) that needs to be addressed is DC. OC is not a problem at the moment.
-
Pretty sure that the other 8 defenses in the league scored points too. Seriously, you do tend to show a little bit of anti-LaPolice bias. We got to 12-6 somehow.

Edmonton Eski-dolts @ Regina Ridirts: Who Do We Want?

I believe that Richie Hall has described his defense as "a systematic withdrawal until such time as a demarcation line is crossed, at which point resistance is fortified". This is NOT "bend but don't break". -
I seem to remember, not too many years ago, several people bemoaning the fact that we're a community owned team and how there's no accountability because it's run by a board and how private ownership would be so much better because there would be someone from whom the buck stops at. Good times, good times...
