  1. Let me just say that if you're thinking that 18.75 an hour is "peanuts" then I hope you recognize how fortunate you are.
  2. 15k plus housing&perks for 20 weeks? I know lots of people who would be thrilled with that. Again, I realize that compared to a rostered spot it's not a lot, but they're being taken care of as they work their way onto the active roster.
  3. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. Condolences to his family and friends.
  4. If it's true that they get paid a minimum of 750.00 per week (39k per year) plus housing, they're not doing too bad. Granted, it's not starter money, but they're not going to have to sell pencils on Pembina street corners after practice to make ends meet.
  5. There are two or three posters on this site that easily demonstrate that your argument is not valid.
  6. Or less. You just never know when you never know.
  7. So, if we exclude Kelly's oversized ego and the accompanying asshattery, his 20 years out of date playbook (Kelly's Greatest Hits of the 90's), his screwing up as a GM and his losing record, can we agree that Kelly wasn't that bad? I for one will always have at least one fond memory of that year; the picture of Kelly with the rolling container cleaning out his stuff after being fired. That and his mug shot. So there are two things that Kelly gave us that we can cherish always. We need to acknowledge that I think. So there, you're both right!
  8. A knight from the middle ages reviews Joe Mack's drafting:
  9. If he was unhappy with sitting there, couldn't he just move? And maybe say something like, "Hey knock that crap off."
  10. She was 25, but hey, if you must, by all means, grieve for Addison not being able to ride the pine (or soak in the tub) and get paid...
  11. Kelly was, at best, a mediocre head coach with a Trumpian ego and temperament. He might have eventually become a respectable head coach at the pro level if he had just checked his ego and mouth at the door.
  12. How about this (and by the way, this is not a hypothetical example, sadly): "Sorry Sally*, it looks like the chemo was not effective. There's treatment available in the States, but it will cost you and you parents pretty much everything you have and there's no guarantee. What would you like to do? Talk it over with your husband" That, my friend, is what "the hardest decision a 23 year old can make" looks like. Sure, it sucks for Addison, but forgive me if I shed not a tear for the fact that he can't make a living playing a game. He's a young man, the world is full of opportunity for him that others will never have. *not her real name
  13. Funny in the "Oh Addison, you have no idea what hard decisions look like, because if you did, you'd realize that this ain't one of them"
  14. A hard choice for him, true, but it doesn't even come close the the toughest decisions someone his age might have to face.
  15. This post drips with irony, but at least you didn't start a thread to say it!
  16. I actually laughed at Richards' comment because only a 23 year old would think that his decision to retire from playing a game for money was the hardest one someone his age could make...
  17. too bad about Richards. Yes it is a wasted pick but it could be worse. We could have given up a first overall and a top notch import for a guy we cut within months. Not like that would ever happen in the real world...
  18. A Harris
  19. Oh yea, I just love what he did in Winnipeg. Can't thank him enough! (from: every other team in the CFL)
  20. You should probably stop watching football then because I'm thinking that compared to running into a heavily padded goalpost, there's way more chance of injury colliding with a human missile, something that happens each and every play somewhere on the field.
  21. Fairly confident that the padding used now is a whole lot better than the stuff used in the '70's.
  22. Seriously? Ya, moving a fairly raw player from defensive line to linebacker at the pro level. Can't see anything going wrong with an idea like that. And if he doesn't work out, why don't we see if he can throw the ball? We could always use a Canadian QB prospect.
  23. This needs to be made into an avatar!
