  1. And just how many "elite" Canadians do you think that any team can afford to carry? It's not always about getting the best player. Sometimes it's getting the best player you can afford. So maybe JFG/Richards are those players.
  2. People looking for something to do in Regina... Well, I'm surprised
  3. Sounds like the perfect venue for the Argos to half sell out!
  4. Now is the time for the dawning of the age of GBill. Seize the day!
  5. My deepest condolences to Geroy, his family and the Lions. May Tracy rest in peace and rise in glory.
  6. Brad Wall's sister, actually.
  7. So wish there was a "completely disagree with this" button...
  8. An oar for each season ticket holder and a spare! Outstanding design!
  9. Logo from the early 80's if memory serves
  10. He's only 5'10", so I doubt that very much...
  11. Haven't we all....
  12. According to Wikipedia, he's two years older than Bob and, seeing that Curt doesn't have that sort of longevity in him, I'm thinking that you're right.
  13. I was wrong. It was Pierre-Luc Labbe that joined the Mounties. Don't see how I could have gotten those names confused...
  14. I thought he joined the Mounties?
  15. That's sort of how it always works. You have a commissioner, and he's the boss and head of the league. He's where the buck stops. Then you have senior VP's who focus on subsets of the "business". Does the commissioner have to be a former player? In my view, no, but he or she's got to be seen as someone with deep roots in the CFL game, and not just a "suit". Orridge was a "suit".
  16. A good commissioner, recognized as someone with "chops" by both owners, officials and fans, might not have any direct authority, but they can influence people, like the owners, to act in ways that will benefit the league. This is where, I think, Orridge failed and where someone like Pinball could really succeed. Let's face it, I never saw Orridge as someone who could sway people with the power of his personality or his recognized love of the CFL, but Pinball certainly can.
  17. from the last paragraph of the article: "With the window for CFL teams to interview front office personnel from other clubs closed, Edmonton would have needed permission from both the league and the Riders in order to speak to O’Day and will have to follow the same process should they wish to interview other candidates currently under contract."
  18. It's funny how some folks go through life being so cynical.
  19. We do not speak of that, ever.
  20. Unless of course, Hervey said that he was open to doing things differently, stalled them out and then thought "They won't fire me this close to the draft and the start of the season." and told them that he was going to stand his ground. If that's the case, they called his bluff. Or maybe, Hervey crossed some sort of line in dealing with the boss and Rhodes decided that he had no choice but to pull the trigger. Lots of reasons that they might feel that they had no choice. Or maybe they were idiotic. We really can't say.
  21. Yep Just a touch after 1am. Luckily, we had gotten a hotel room. We normally drive home after the game, which would have meant that we would have gotten home around 5 or so in the morning. Getting too old for all night events.
