  1. Actually, the few pros that I do know seem to be pretty sensible guys who understand that everyone screws up from time to time and they also don't seem to live out their careers following the dumb sports cliches that fans believe.
  2. The only vets that won't want to play for a coach that might have screwed up are the ones that have never screwed up themselves. How many of those do you think are out there?
  3. So, the fact that this year there was clear improvement means nothing at all? You sound like you were expecting this team to go from 5-13 last year and a 1-4 start to 2016 and then do what exactly, win the Cup? You do realize that this team might actually get better, right? You sound completely unrealistic, and I'm trying to be charitable in my description. Take a chill pill and if at this time next year we're in the same position then feel free to *****. Jeez...
  4. He has never kicked a field goal farther than 58 yards. Ever. Don't give a whit about practice. the odds were most certainly NOT equal
  5. Sort of pointless referring to teams that have nothing whatsoever to do with the current regime, but hey, that's just me.
  6. Not lately we haven't, and that's sort of the point. We have come a long way in one year, and while winning the whole thing would have been nice, it's not all that realistic this year.
  7. Not exactly sure why someone would feel the need to post to say something like "I think they'll lose, but I'll be really happy if they don't". Sort of playing both angles at the same time. Not really all that helpful or insightful. You know what? Not every thought one has needs to be shared. Personally, I really hope the Bombers win and so does my gut. Period.
  8. It seems to me that you're trying to dredge up history that is not really relevant, nor all that accurate in my opinion, so I guess we will disagree and move on.
  9. No, not at all. For me, there is a huge difference between "mailing it in" and "crapping the bed". Our last home game was the latter. They simply played poorly. It happens. I'm not a huge fan of Mike O'Shea, but I'm very confident that no team under him will ever "mail it in". It's just not in his DNA.
  10. Because it's pro ball and you play to win. Otherwise there will be all sorts of people whining about how they mailed it in and how much the team sucks. Not that we're likely to have any of that sort of stuff happening here...
  11. If anyone thinks that O'Shea is going to kick LaPolice to the curb after one year, especially seeing that they made the playoffs, then you'e clearly not playing attention to the way that O'Shea operates.
  12. Ah. I see that you do indeed have a point. Fortunately, a hat will cover it.
  13. Being that he was their OC and the penalty was on special teams, I'm not sure what your point is.
  14. No, because that would mean having to admit that the Bombers did something smart, which cannot, under any circumstances, be admitted. Too hard to piss and moan then.
  15. I would have to think that if Harris had some sort of bonus to kick in at 1k, they would likely give it to him, considering the circumstances.
  16. My only regret is that you can only like a post once, because no truer words have been spoke on this forum. Edit: 1000 posts. Yay me!
  17. Excluding the ones I got wrong, I absolutely nailed this!
  18. Something vexes thee?
  19. The 9-track made them obsolete.
  20. I agree. I recall what we were like after the first six games of this season. We were sitting at 1-5 and the calls for O'Shea's and Walters' heads were deafening. If anyone at that time had said that we'd end up at a 10-8 or 11-7 record by years end and be in the playoffs, they would have been called aarvarkian and laughed off the board. Even if we end up being "one and done", we did far better than anyone could have hoped in July. Having said that, this was a bad game and O'Shea and the team need to turn this around but I seem to recall that they've be able to do that before, so let's not panic just yet.
  21. From all the rending of garments and gnashing of teeth, I'm guessing we must have played so badly that we lost our playoff spot?
  22. The problem is though, you can't always believe everything you read on the internet. For example, I recall reading someone who was so sure that there was no possible way that the Riders could lose to Montreal.
  23. That was my thinking too, but with posting and gin, one can never be too sure.
  24. I sure hope that is was meant sarcastically.
