  1. Or... maybe not every coach/player has the "red meat - this is Sparta- there is no play but this one" type of mentality. You know, the thinking type?
  2. That's why they have coaches. Here's a possible instruction that a coach might give to Medlock - "Justin, you aren't paid to tackle people, so unless he runs right into you, get the hell out of the way and stay there. Got it? Good. Oh and Drew, did you hear what I just told Justin? That goes for you too. Now neither of you will have to think this through and plan an appropriate strategy based on the possible outcomes of your actions."
  3. Let's see, if the kicker is being asked to make the tackle, that means 11 professional football players, guys who are actually expected to do things like tackling, failed to do what they are being paid to do. So I don't think anyone is going to look at the kicker and say anything, being that tackling isn't something that a specialist like him is being paid to do. Lose 7 points in a game - manageable. Lose a kicker for the season trying to save 7 points - beyond dumb (Grey Cup game notwithstanding). Strategic thinking over tactical thinking.
  4. As I recall, he was a big proponent of trying to bring in an NFL team to Toronto, so I wouldn't describe him as a big supporter of the Argos or the CFL. He did clearly love football, especially youth football, and in a way it's too bad that he didn't just focus solely on that.
  5. Ah yes, from the Herb Tarlek collection. Remember it well.
  6. You would think that Milt would be doing better financially, but he can't even afford a light bulb for his bedroom, cause, daymmm.
  7. Hey, maybe we should get a former receiver to be the head of our CIS scouting department. I wonder if there are any that would be interested in the job?
  8. If, as has been suggested, he makes less that the average 3rd stringer, you need to bump him up fairly quickly. He's already proved that he's more valuable that "the average 3rd stringer" so I really don't see what would be gained in telling him that he has to prove during TC that he's worth it. The only thing that waiting will accomplish will be to ensure that there's absolutely 0 good will moving forward. Wally's smarter than that.
  9. Neither because Wally's going to give him more money. He's just not going to be seen doing it on the player and agent's time. He'll let Jennings stew a bit and make him fight a little for the raise that they both know he's going to get.
  10. BC can play hard ball if they want, that's their right. If they exercise that right it will probably be the last contract Jennings signs with them, so Wally will break open the wallet. He's just playing hard to get right now.
  11. Ya, figured that was the case but I wasn't going to help him out.
  12. Jet streams are fast flowing, narrow air currents found in the upper atmosphere or in troposphere of some planets, including Earth. The main jet streams are located near the altitude of the tropopause. So, that being the case, if the Jet Stream is going to move the ship, you better have one humdinger of a mast and sail.
  13. Sorry Captain Metaphor, but the Jet Stream doesn't push boats.
  14. By the way ISO, I'm wanting compensation so I can get this thing fixed.
  15. How about this, seeing that expansion was tried once and really didn't work out all that well, why don't we have Canadian teams play in the Canadian Football League and American teams play in the NFL or whatever other league du jour they can come up with. By the way, to the guy that came up with the idea that CFL teams play US rules when in the US and Canadian rules in Canada, there aren't enough faces and palms to express just how dumb an idea that is.
  16. My irony meter just exploded. Thanks loads...
  17. What are people's thoughts on having your own name on a jersey? I see that some people here have posted they do that, yet others, and I say this with all respect, suggest that this is somewhat "lame". I'm not wanting to start a war, I'm just interested in thoughts, either for or against.
  18. Reading is hard... I never said that Bourke couldn't switch. Of course he can. Would he be as effective? I don't know, and neither do you. So you're suggesting that the Bombers should spend a boat load of money on a crap shoot move? Probably not the smartest GM move.
  19. Except, as has been mentioned a bunch of times Bourke is a LEFT tackle, so you have no way whatsoever in knowing that he would have had success moving to the other end of the line, and still, with that uncertainty you thinks it's ok to pay the sort of bucks he would have commanded. You know, there's a reason that some people do the GM thing for a living and we don't. This is is an example of why.
  20. It's being done in fun, more of a LaPolice vs Stegall sort of thing
  21. The answer is simple. Bourke isn't a Bomber, Bryant is, therefore Bourke>Bryant.
  22. There wasn't a ton of OL help available in this FA draft, so what exactly were you expecting there? The fact that we have a real good line backing corps has already been pointed out, And remember, it's February. There will be more roster moves before TC so try and salve your disappointment,
  23. Personally, I don't give a flying rat's butt what the watermelon heads in Saskatchewan or some hack sportswriter in Calgary think about our free agency signings. Nor do I care what mutterings Hufnagel has about today either. All I care about is that the team gets better, and from what Walters did today, I'm thinking that it has.
  24. Freaking guy is clueless. Yes, free agency signings are not the backbone of a successful program, but when the talent tank's gauge is reading empty, you do what you've got to do.
