Come on, quit sitting on the fence.....what do you think of him?????????
-
A lot of teams would give up a top 10 for Drouin, don't kid yourself. Yzerman is waiting until he gets what he wants. Dano was just a suggestion that is why the "?" after his name. You've got to give to get. If you think we will get Drouin for Chicago's first or spare parts, think again.

Maurice talking about Armia today says nothing at all wrong with taking a year or two longer than some players and that he is okay with giving him ice time because he is so sound defensively. Totally different player than TC last fall. He sees him playing significant minutes as he develops and who he plays with will have a great bearing on him. Chevy mentioned in his presser that you need to play an offensive player with offensive people to get them to develop properly. Maurice speaks about bringing the puck across his body that few people can do and his calmness with the puck. They were looking for him to improve with his quickness and play away from the puck and he says he is developing nicely there. The intelligence and the hands are there he says. He also mentions that they are taking less penalties over the last 10 games. He talks about the players, like Pavelec, have extra initiative to play harder once named to the World Cup team. Ehlers and Scheif and Trouba should be named to World Cup teams as will Buff and Wheeler you would think. Dano maybe? Helle? Enstrom?
-
Pavelec gets named to Czech team for World Cup.
-
Ideally we have Hutch backing up Helle and Phillips backing up Comrie on the Moose...
-
Overall team D has got a lot to do with that. Both Pavs and Hutch have more than 1/2 goal higher per game than last year. Helle is the starter next year. The question is, who is the backup?
-
The Jets have enough goalies now...

What would you like to see Chevy do players-wise. I kow a LOT depends on what happens at the draft but here are some things I wold like to see done regardless of the draft. Great in the dressing room or not, it is time to move on from Chris Thorburn. Trade him for whatever you can get. I would also see what Burmi and Postma and Chiarot would bring back to see if it is worth moving one of them. I would like to see Hamonic and Drouin in a Jets uni next year and Myers and Staf gone. If we don't get to draft until the 8th or so, give it to Yzerman with something (Dano?) for Drouin. Myers and a 2nd or Petan or something for Hamonic. He would do so much for our D. Stuart should be traded. A lot of decisions on D depend on where Morrissey plays next year. I think Connor is on the Jets and Lemieux has a really good chance of playing for the Jets before the next season is finished. Might even see a game or two this year if his season is finished before ours. I don't know about Morrissey but have read that he has really improved over the season but I am okay with leaving him on the farm if he isn't ready. Where do Lipon, De Leo, Petan and Comrie play next year?
-
Yup, Chevy is giving the kids the chance to see what they have. It is the most open I have ever seen Chevy with the press. Expect it next year too. They know they aren't contenders and by spending the least amount of any team they knew they weren't getting far this year Think of this team with a LHD worth 5m and another top 6 winger worth 4-5 and another 3m for bottom 6 help....they probably would have made the playoffs but how far and for how long. I like the Jets' long-term plan.
-
They'll probably want to sign Phillips and play him as backup on the Moose next season and that leaves us with 5 goalies with 4 spots. The Jets won't buy out PAvs. It will cost them 1.5m for the next 3 years which is a savings of 250k of salary. Caphitwise it would free up 3.25m for the 2016-2017 season. For the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons it will take 1.5m out of the caphit.... We won't be up against the caphit next year and might need it in the 3rd but I rally can't see the Jets doing this. As Rich mentioned, why not put him on waivers and send him down as a last resort? He can't do anything about being put on waivers and demoted to the Moose, this isn't a conditioning stint. I think we see Pavs moved this off-season. Ehlers Scheif Wheeler Connor Little Armia Perreault should all play well for us next year and Lowry Staf Copp Lemieux Dano Thorbs and peluso to pick from on the bottom 6 isn't bad. I think we need help on the lower pairings D (Postma?) and we are fine with the 1st two if Trouba plays with Buff. There'll be changes and additions to this lineup but it isn't too many pieces away from playoff material. Helle will be the starter next year and I think Maurice gives him a minnimum of 55 games.
-
Looking at it now, I would re-sign Trouba and Scheif to 6 x 5.8 deals. It sounds expensive now but when the cap goes up to where it will be in 5 years, these will be a bargain. Armia I would give a 2 year 2.25m and Hutch I would offer 650k. Lowry would be offered a 2 x 1.8m and Lipon a slight raise.
-
Hutch sucks... 7-12-1 sv% .906 GAA 2.95 W% .368 I agree about him being the backup is smarter for for the Jets though. Would love to dump Pavs' contract. I think Comrie will be more than ready after the 2016-2017 season and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he gets called up a bit sooner. Ya, Armia needs an offensively minded center. It would be so huge for the Jets to get Matthews in the draft. Ehlers Scheif Wheeler Connor Matthews Armia Perreault Little Staf Lowry Copp Dano (Burmi) Trouba Buff Enstrom Hamonic Morrissey Postma (Chiarot Stuart) Helle Hutch Rookies are bolded.
-
They both suck. Our two best goalies are playing for the Moose. I'd like to see what Postma can do over 15 games or so. Armia has some crazy moves out there. Ehlers sure uses his linemates a LOT smarter now. That line was dangerous every time it was on the ice.

It'd be nice to see what Armia and Dano can do with Perreault between them...
-
Not to mention he is the shutdown D man we don't have and need. Myers and whatever in the off-season Chevy, get er dun!!!!!! It clears up over 1.6m of cap space!!!!!!!! Myers, Petan, 1st in 2017 for Hamonic and Barzal.
-
3.858m cap hit and 4.875m starting next season but I agree with you. He brings great value for 4 more seasons and wants to be here. He is what we need.
-
Too bad his salary is higher than his caphit, the Jets like their contracts the other way.
-
Fro was mentioned by Chevy in the Q and A but he didn't mention him by name....something about if we had signed someone to 5m, we wouldn't have that money to do other things. Fro is gone and I am glad....sorry we didn't trade him at the TD but oh well, the guys got a taste of the playoffs.
-
Not true. TUP was one of the first if not the first, poster to mention we might be taking a step back this year. You can argue about Stemp all you want but the highest he plays on the Jets is 3rd line this year. I'm not sure Copp benefited from NHL time this year or if he would have been better developed on the farm. If Stemp were signed, Copp could have seen much more ice time with the Moose....but then you would be bringing in one more rookie next season...
-
Buff will be here but i doubt he wants the C... Hamonic is 26 this summer....not old.

An idea of where players on the Jets were drafted... round-overall-year... * = drafted by Jets... Bolded = drafted by Atlanta Wheeler 1-5-04 (Ladd was taken by the Canes immediately before Wheeler) Stafford 1-13-04 Little 1-12-06 *Schief 1-7-11 *Ehlers 1-9-14 Perreault 6-177-06 Burmi 1-8-2010 Thorburn 2-50-01 *Copp 4-104-13 Dano 1-27-13 Armia 1-16-11 *Lowry 3-67-11 Peluso 6-160-07 Buff 8-245-03 (five after Enstrom) Enstrom 8-239-03 oops Stuart 1-21-03 *Trouba 1-9-12 Myers 1-12-08 Chiarot 4-120-09 Postma 7-205-07 Pavs 2-41-05 Hutch 3-77-08 Eleven (half) were 1st rounders.
