The Isles I can see not being interested but you would think Florida would be. The Isles will be going through a bit of change this off-season losing Okposo and Hamonic to start with.
-
KBF, You do know who Kyle Connor is right?
-
It's not that I think we should trade Myers, I think we should trade a RHD and Myers is the one that should be traded. We need a true shutdown D man and we don't have one. I'd do Myers for Drouin but I think TB needs to add. Myers and 3rd for Hamonic although his agent says a TD trad is unlikely. Ladd and Myers for Kempe, 2017 1st, 2016 2nd and ? + ?. Pavs and 5th for Hiller. Ladd to Caps for 1st in 2017 and Bowey.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-daddy/ncaa-hockey-101--michigan-freshman-kyle-connor-s-case-for-hobey-baker-213028291.html This guy thinks the Hobey Baker Award is Connor's...

Anyone think Helle is back up with the Jets after the trade deadline? If no goalie is traded they can still call him up and give him games. I think they do. Might see him against the Isles...
-
No way in any universe does Chevy takes Carle at 5.5m for another two seasons after this one. He's got 2 points this year!!!!!!! They'd have to give us Stamkos to do that. The hate from TB fans for him is more than ours for any Jet. I'd love to see Drouin on the Jets though. Ehlers might have to play RW if we have Connor and Drouin on LW. This guy could put up BIG numbers with a true goal scorer on his line. He's got 40 points in 89 games but 34 of them are assists. There's a reason he was 3rd overall. Drouin Little Wheeler? I think if we are trading a RHD, Myers should be the one to go though but TB doesn't have the cap room. I just can't see the tight-arsed Jets trading Myers yet, not until we are in cap trouble. I hope they do though. Give them Ladd (50% retained) and Petan. Pokka would be a good add and probably makes the team next year as a 3rd pairing D man and we need one. He turns 22 this summer. If I were Chevy, I would be actively seeing what I could get for the following (but of course not all) ... Lowry (ya I know) ...Thorbs Myers Staf Stuart Chiarot Postma Harrison Pardy Petan Burmi Peluso Pavs/Hutch The bolded I would love to see in another uni next fall, we simply don't need them and some like Staf would bring back a nice return in the next few days.

They aren't very up to date....like 9 months behind aren't they?
-
Hahahaha, doesn't surprise me, you didn't hear of Auston Matthews either!!!!! Dano is the best forward prospect in the Hawks' system that will be on their 3rd line next year if he isn't traded. 2nd liner or 3rd on a really talented team. Pokka is the best D man prospect in the Hawks' system that will be a 3rd pairing for them next year. 2nd pairing in his prime and we could use a dependable 3rd pairing RHD next season unless Chevy/Maurice think Postma is. These guys will for sure be in the NHL, can you say that about someone Chevy will draft in the late 20s this year? Having said this, I would much rather go after a player like Crouse from FLorida or Drouin from TB or even Mirco Mueller from the Sharks. Why go after a pick and a middling prospect for a first line LWer? Go for something that has the potential to be more.
-
Ladd 50% retained, our 3rd in 2016, and Chiarot to Chicago for Pokka and Dano. Leaves them their first for another trade and we take as much of Ladd's salary as we can to further help them make another trade.
-
Ladd wasn't looking to become an UFA....he was looking to get what he wanted and stay here. Frosty, Seriously, a 3 year deal wouldn't even get him talking....he probably wouldn't sign a 5 year....Lawless suggested 5 x 6.25...He's gonna be traded anyway and most people think it is Chicago or Florida with most leaning to Chicago. Chicago makes sense. They have lots of picks from trading out big salaries and draft very well after the first couple of rounds. They are the number one team and need to win now as their core players are all mostly in their primes but.. I'd like to see what LA would come up with to try to keep the Hawks from getting Ladd. Kempe would have to be part of that package. Someone mentioned Chiarot and Ladd to Chicago not just Ladd.
-
He started in 963 games and not sure how many he was the backup in. You can be sure he has over 1000 games. 45k a year is the most you can get in a pension in the US? I find that hard to believe...
-
Look at his stats and tell me he isn't worth it. Trade him in 3 years or so if he diminishes... He'll get at least 6 years and at least 6m per year this summer...he is the most sought after UFA this year...he will bring back a bushel of assets and Chevy will trade him.
-
Chevy likes Pirri....wouldn't surprise me in the least if he were involved in the deal. Who compared Matheson to Postma? I have read nothing but good things about him. Like I said, I'd sooner add to Ladd and get Crouse. It seems the Hawks are going hard after Boedker.

found this.. NHL players can start withdrawing their pension benefits at the age of 45. Players are not fully vested, however, until the age of 45. NHL pensions require that a player be active for at least 160 games to qualify for the maximum pension benefit. Players with less than 160 games of service receive the maximum benefit under Canadian law, and players with 160 games or more of service receive the maximum pension under U.S. law, which is $45,000 annually. (The maximum amount you may borrow from your qualified plan is either 50% of your vested balance or $50,000, whichever is less. )

"Considered by many to be the best goalie to ever play the game, Sawchuk is in the top tier of netminders. His 103 shutouts was a league record for a long time and he held the record for most wins in a career for many years until Patrick Roy broke it not to long ago." I remember him from the late 60's but he wasn't playing for the best teams. I do remember announcers like Danny Gallivan (best play by play guy ever) gushing about him and saying how he was the best goalie of all time.

Dreger says, without too much digging, that Chevy is starting to make calls this morning and actively seeing what is out there. Not only for Ladd though. I think he is gone but would sign him to 5 years for 29m. 7, 7, 6, 5, 4. NMC for the first two and can trade him (so many teams) after two. Best would be to trade him for NHL ready prospect(s). Dreger speaking here about the Jets.....pretty good convo. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/what-s-the-latest-on-ladd~815739

Not many goalies considered to be better than Sawchuk over time. For sure top 10 and arguably top 5.
-
I think there are ways of getting money and the people you borrowed from get the pension checks...
-
Matheson is more NHL ready and if he can play the 3rd pairing adequately with a ceiling I would take him. If not, go after Crouse. Ladd and a 3rd in 2017 for Crouse?
-
Wow, it says here that Belfour made just short of 50 million!!!!!!!! http://www.hockeyzoneplus.com/salaries/217

Come on, I said a 3rd too...

Myers, a 3rd and Petan to Deadmonton for Hall and a 2nd. Ladd and Chiarot to Chicago for Schmaltz, Pokka and a 2017 3rd rounder. Staf and a 3rd to Florida for Mike Matheson and a 1st. Burmi and Pavs and Peluso to the Blues for a first. Thorbs and Stu to the Pens for a 3rd in 2016 and a 3rd in 2017. We trade away about 25m per year in Ladd, Myers, Chiarot, Petan, Thorbs, Burmi, Stu, Pavs, and Peluso. (traded two 3rds got 3 back). We get back Smaltz (1st round pick), Hall (1LW that is 24), St. Louis' 1st, Florida's 1st, Deadmonton's 2nd, Mike Matheson (1st round pick and first year LHD), a 3rd and that is about 8m in salary. Trade some picks and prospects for Hamonic. With the cash savings we are able to land a couple of UFAs like Okposo (6x6) to take Staf's place. Next year... Hall Scheif Ehlers 12.6 Connor Little Wheeler 11.3 Armia Perreault Okposo 11 Lemieux Lowry Schmaltz 4 Trouba Buff 13 Enstrom Hamonic 9.65 Matheson Pokka 2 Helle Hutch 2 Carry Morrissey, Copp and Postma in the press box. 3 Scheif and Trouba signed long-term to 5.6m per year deals. A playoff caliber team with 3 rookies on the team and a payroll of around 69m with a lot of picks and prospects still in the cupboard.

We be tankin' it (official tanking thread) ...

How does tading Pavs for Hiller cost you money? It would cost about 62,500.00 more this year and 3.9m less on cap hit and 4.75m actual salary next year. -

It is the same as giving away his contract for free. Why not do it?
