I hope Chevy doesn't give Trouba more than a bridge deal. He hasn't done anything to deserve a long term deal. Sign him to two years and if he is really looking good at the start of the 2nd year, get him locked up long term before the end of the season. If it looks like he will not be anything better than a 2nd pairing D man, pay him accordingly.
-
I sure hope so. Anything around 6m per year for Ladd or longer than 5 years term is too much. MP at 17m over 4 years would be ideal. By the time his contract expires, he is being replaced by the likes of Roslovic/Harkins/Connor/Petan/De Leo/Lemieux/picks. I'd like to see MP and Armia play with Scheif but how do you break up the ESW line? Matthews wold be so huge for this team.
-
He's on pace for a 52 point season and is great on the PP. He isn't afraid to make a hit, make a block, certainly isn't afraid to shoot the puck and has a good wrist shot.
-
not sure what the q is but I can see them seriously asking about Ladd. They have a lot of prospects and I think they will battle LA hard in the post-season. The Ducks' window for winning is now, not in 4 or 5 years.
-
Perreault can also step into the center position if needed.
-
I'd like to see the bigger ice size......look at the average size of a layer now compared to even the sixties..........there's no room for them out there. It would open up the game more.
-
I disagree.....they are making goalie's equipment smaller which is the right way to go. They are wearing 4x8 sheets of plywood on their legs tight now. The ice size could be made wider....instead of 200x85 they could go to 200x100 like the international rinks. As soon as a player gets the puck in the NHL, someone is on him. With more space the skaters would flourish. No need for changing the size of the net.
-
Four years of Perreault starts north of 16m and I am guessing about 18m over four years for 4.5m per year. I'd rather sign Perreault than Ladd if given a choice.
-
TUP, don't hold your breath when it comes to net sizes getting bigger.

The management team over there, until recently, were not very good. I've got nothing against Myers but he is in 3rd place in our RHD and if one of them is traded, it should be him. Our back end needs a true shutdown D man. Enstrom and Hamonic would make a nice pairing.
-
The knock on him after h is size is is skating. Amazing hands and a good PP performer but if he is up against the NHL players, he is slow. I honestly can't see hi m pushing anyone out of the top six.

If Chevy can talk the Isles into this deal, he would be considered the next Sammy Pollock. Send a 30 year old UFA expecting to get 6m a year and having an off year, a D man making 5.5 on the cap hit and an older, small, D man at 5.75m a year for A very good shutdown D man on a good contract.....and a 21 year old D that plays over 20 minutes a game and makes under 2m for another year and is an RFA? Oh, and throw in a 1st too????? 17+m to the Isles with 5.5m coming back and they are about 4.5m away from the cap......I'd love it. It gives us their shutdown pairing for Enstrom and Myers. Myers and Petan/2nd rounder for Hamonic is much more realistic.
-
You gotta give to get....where do you see Petan in two years? On the Jets and if so, which line? I mentioned Harkins too but they were just examples. If Petan makes the Jets, I can't see it higher than the 3rd line and maybe a penalty killer.
-
not many thi nk that........every article I have read has Matthews in first and some say he would have been 2nd in the last draft. Chevy has stockpiled the cupboards and continues to do so. If we need a LHD, he'll get one. I like Trouba on the left side and for this reason he will probably not be traded this off-season. I'd like to see Hamonic here next year and if they added someone like Barzal but that's unlikely to happen. I still think he ends up here this off-season.
-
If Matthews is as good as people say he is, he'd probably be the piece to put us over.
-
He'll probably have more than one 1st round pick this year if he trades Ladd. I'd gladly trade one and another (Petan? Harkins?) fairly big piece for a 2LHD.
-
Couldn't agree more on Armia, he has great positioning in the D zone and is a tenacious back checker... he's paid his dues in the minors and sure doesn't look out of place out there. A top 6 of Wheeler, Armia, Scheifele, Ehlers, Connor and Little looks nice in 2 years. If we finish as low as I think we will, we can add yet another forward to that group. We need to finish poorly.
-
Chevy might hold out to get more for Ladd.....I can see a few teams being interested. The Ducks being one of them.
-
I hope so......that 6m in 4 more seasons that contract will be a burden and that is when this team will be contending. Trade Ladd to the highest bidder........again, I'd take prospects over picks.
-
If Chevy can get a 2LHD, he would give up 1st for it.
-
that was from july 12 of 2015.here is the one i put up a couple days ago.... Ehlers1 Scheifele4.9 Wheeler5.6 =11.5m Connor1 Little4.4 Armia2.8 =8.2m Copp1.9 Perreault5 (2016 1st round draft pick)1 =7.9m Lemieux1 Lowry2.5 Roslovic1 =4.5m Enstrom5.75 - Trouba5.75 =11.5m LHD*4.5 - Buff7.5 =12m Morrissey1 - Myers5.5 =6.5m Helle4.6 /Comrie.7 =5.3m Bolded = rookie *acquired in Ladd trade. (Ladd's return + Petan/2017 1st round draft pick for 2LHD). Assumes Perreault re-signs for 5m and that Scheif re-signs for 4.9 , Trouba for 5.75, Copp for 1.5, Armia for 2.8 and Lowry for 2.5 . Also assumes Stafford, Ladd, Stuart, Petan, Hutchinson and Burmi are traded. salary = 67.4m Buff should go to 7.6 and overall to 67.5.
-
the rumor of Trouba wanting big bucks over long term came at the same time from the same source that said Buff wanted 8 years...
-
After the last game against Colorado, Maurice was talking about Armia and said maybe he played his best game so far. This guy needs to play with offensive minded players. He hasn't looked out of place no matter where Maurice has stuck him.
-
You'll know better how he should turn out in another two years too. If he looks like he is going to be a Norris candidate for years, give him the 8m a year....if not, give him what he is worth.
