  1. Goaltending (Pavs and Hutch) AND special teams have been major disappointments this year. Helle plays as well as he has and we are in though. He has a .636 winning percentage. The goaltender is THE biggest part of your PK.
  2. If Helle started with the Jets and played as well as he has so far, we'd be in a playoff spot.
  3. They were tied on a road game with under 8 minutes to go and the Jets get scored on by the PP. What was it about the coaching? The lines? The systems?
  4. I think 11 are assists....who was Morrissey paired with most shifts?
  5. Too bad, Helle deserved a win. Whether it was a penalty to Ladd or not, why make that play? Nothing at all to be gained by it. Stupid play.
  6. Ha ha, I don't think Chipman has much Steinbrenner in him.
  7. If I owned the team and a long term multi million dollar deal were being negotiated, I'd want to know what was going on too. I don't think Chipman is consulted when Chevy is renegotiating a deal with Lowry but in the case of Buff or Ladd, I think he is.
  8. What do we do with our RFAs? Scheifele, Trouba, Lowry, Hutch, Armia, and Lipon are most likely to see time if re-signed. I think everyone but the first 3 get moderate raises and 2-3 year contracts....not sure about Armia and how salary arbitration would work. Lowry should get a 2 year deal around 1.75 per year. Do we give Scheif and Trouba a 2 year bridge deal for 2 years and then lock them up long term or do we lock them up now? Choice 1 If we bridge them for 7.75m over two years and then lock them up for 7m per for 8 years, it would cost 63.75m over 10 years. Choice 2 If we lock them up for 8 year deals right now for 6m per year for 48m, it would leave 15.75m for the next 2 years for the 10 years above. Both deals do not take into account the present and future value of money. I'd be all over Choice 1. At the end of those contracts Scheif would be 33 and Trouba would be 32. At this age they wouldn't be looking for as big a contract as at the Choice 2 expiration date. At the end of Choice 2, they will be 31 and 30. They'll want 6 year deals and be much in the same spot as Buff and Ladd.
  9. I just would want to start the season next year with next to no NHL experience in the net. Pavs is an expensive backup but been around enough and next year is the final year of his contract. Unless you can move him and sign someone like Brian Elliot for cheap for a year or so. I really like the goaltending depth the Jets have. LHD, not so much.
  10. I can see the tight-assed Jets retaining salary for the rest of the year, i.e. TD to end of season, but not a whole year. There is only about 25% of the year left at the TD so Buff's would be about 1.3m and Ladd's would be 1.1m if they retained 50%.

  12. I'd go as far to say that, outside of Wayne Gretzky, Hawerchuk was the best player on the planet for a couple years.
  13. His game could go into the chitter but I don't see it happening... What do they do with Hutch/Pavs is the big question. I'd see if there was interest in Hutch, if it isn't above a 4th liner, I would send him down. Keep Pavs for another year as insurance and let Comrie develop on the farm. When Pavs' contract expires, bring up Comrie to back up Helle and let Phillips take over on the farm?
  14. IF he is half, he would be happy. I'd never take two Doans for one Hawerchuk. The kid took the team on his shoulders at 18 years old and at one time, they were considered a serious contender with Ducky as captain in the mid-80s. I predict a win for the Jets in this game. They are getting some confidence and playing a lot better. There PK is much better and I like the lines that Maurice has came up with. I think Lowry and Ladd should play with each other more.
  15. Like I say, can't really compare the two, Ducky played 713 games, Doan has played over 1400.
  16. Which is why the leafs won so many cups back then...
  17. goals for the franchise maybe....careers are not even close when you compare them.... no comparison really. Doan 1412 GP 379G 536A 915P Hawerchuk 1188 GP 518G 891A 1409P
  18. I'd take ROR on the Jets in a heartbeat. DUI or not. He is the best move the sabres have made in years. If players like RyJo had his drive, he'd be a Hart Trophy winner. I'd guess that Kane is innocent but what do we know. We can speculate but that is all it is ... speculation.
  19. If Helle keeps playing the way he has been, he isn't being sent down.

  22. The Pens played and won tonight against the Wild.
  23. Buff would be gone in a heartbeat......they can leave the 1st rounder in Buffalo, Chevy would trade him even up. A nice Christmas present for Kaner...
  24. Absolutely no interest in Yak and really not much in Eberle....both RWers too. Keep Buff and trade Ladd at the TD... MTL has some nice prospects they might give up. Anaheim does too.
