  1. We don't need a 1RW signed to a very nice contract? ok...
  2. That makes no sense. You can't lose assets for nothing and pat yourself on the back for having extra money to spend. You can trade them for picks and cost yourself no money and still get assets in return. I agree that the best would be to get NHL ready prospects but if they do walk and are replaced with an equal or better talent for less or the same caphit, did you lose? I agree with goalie though, if they aren't signed by mid-January and we're out of the playoffs, you start shopping them to see what you can get around the trade deadline or even before. Buff will get you more than Ladd but they will both bring a good return. Buff should return a 1st, a good prospect and a 3rd liner. Ladd would be almost the same.
  3. To me, if they walk, it would depend how that money was spent.
  4. If Buff and Ladd walk after this year is it really such a bad thing? Let's say they saved 13m for 6 years by not signing them. Can they be replaced for 13 million? What if Chevy went out and signed Okposo for 6 years at 5.5-6m per year? How much will Eric Staal cost? Then, he signed an offer sheet to Lindholm or Maatta or Vatanen or Murray for 5-5.4 per year? Their teams will all be close to the cap and will struggle to match a long term offer. This would probably cost a 1st and and a 3rd. I'd give up a 1st and a 3rd for any one of them. Or Chevy could sign Yandle or Campbell or Hamhuis or someone of that ilk for about 3-4 years for 5-5.5 per year. Is this a better team with the RFA signed and Okposo? I think it is. Is it a better team with the UFA and Okposo signed? Not quite. What about trading them both for picks and prospects and going the RFA and/or UFA and THEN, keep an ear to what Ladd and Buff are being offered as UFAs. I would trade them both, make offer sheets to some RFAs and go after somebody on the UFA market to replace Ladd. If we are only trading one, let it be Ladd.
  5. Simmonds caphit is 3.975m for the next 3 seasons after this one. His actual salary is more.
  6. Helle is starting?
  7. I like his bro but the Flyers can keep Luke. I really like Simmonds.
  8. Gardiner is a solid 2LHD...someone to take Toby's place until Morrissey takes that spot over.....we miss Enstrom's point production from the back end. Cap friendly deal at 4.05 for 3 seasons after this one and 25 years old.
  9. Wheeler, Buff, Little and Ladd are arguably 4 of the 5 best players on the team and they all came from Atlanta.....maybe it is/was the surrounding team? Think about it, if they can keep up their play for the next 3 years while the youngsters mature, is it not worth keeping them? Just a question. Burmi came over and so did Enstrom but his play is depreciating especially on O... Chiarot was in the minors....Thorbs came over...Stu and Pavs....who am I missing that is still here?
  10. I agree, if Buff were re-signed, I would trade Myers.... ideally trade both of them and end up with Hamonic and Trouba as our RHD and get a 1LHD like Gardiner back from trading Buff. Then wrap Ladd up and ship him out too if he doesn't want to re-sign. I'd give Okposo 6x6 before Ladd so the Hamonic-Okposo for Ladd-Myers makes sense. I realize trading away those two is trading away a ton of O but we need a true shutdown D man and a true 1LHD would be really nice too. Ehlers Little Wheeler 19 mins Perrault Schief Okposo 17 mins Staf Burmi Armia/Thorbs 14 mins Lowry Copp Lipon 10 mins Peluso 1LHD Hamonic 25 mins Enstrom Trouba 25 mins Stuart/Pardy Postma 10 mins
  11. I wouldn't even give Ladd 6 years...especially the way he is playing... offer him 19 over 3 and tell him we can talk again in two years..... I'll repeat, I'd like to see Ladd traded WAY before Buff. Buff I would offer just over 21m for 3 years. We have an interesting top 4 D...Toby is over his prime while Buff is in his prime or just starting to leave it and Myers is approaching his prime years. Trouba is young and a ways away from his prime years. Four players in different stages of their careers.
  12. If they hit UFA, I think Jets' fans will be surprised by term and cash...
  13. He definitely improves the team D. We are a better team with him and without Myers but if Buff won't re-sign, it would be wiser to trade Buff.
  14. Koivu is 6.75 and Vanek is 6.5 too...
  15. He could have a clause in his contract that states if he gets a higher position, i.e. GM, he can break the existing contract and accept the GM position. It wouldn't surprise me if he does have this clause.
  16. I doubt we make the p layoffs looking at the last 20 or so games in I think less than 40 days but it is way too early to throw the towel in and think about top draft picks. You try to make the playoffs but try to make them while the team is learning Maurice's (changing?) system. Burmi, Ehlers, Copp, Petan and to a lesser extent Myers and Staf are all trying to figure it all out. Lots of players aren't playing that well and we are out our 1G... I honestly think we need a D man just like Hamonic. He comes cheap, plays mean and wants to play here.
  17. I'd much rather see Ladd traded.
  18. It is a no-brainer, you take Auston Matthews. What are the chances we get 1st overall? slim to none?
  19. Ryan Murray and Ryan Johansen for Little, Buff, Ladd and a 1st in 2016 and a 2nd in 2017. Then trade Myers in a deal for Hamonic. starting D would be Enstrom Trouba Murray Hamonic Stuart/Pardy(soon Morrissey?) Postma
  20. I'd do that trade without hesitation.
  21. I forgot about that....might want to keep both goalies for the expansion draft...another good reason to keep Stu around? I hope they give Chiarot another chance seeing as Pardy is, well, Pardy... What about Armia? Letting him seize up on the pine? I'd much rather see him playing for the Moose and working on his game than riding the pine with the Jets. He was supposedly playing well the last few weeks but why call him up to not play at all? Postma? If he isn't going to play or be sent to the Moose, trade the guy and give him a chance elsewhere..... (or trade Myers for Hamonic, wrap up Ladd in a package for Duchene and sign Buff). It makes more sense to trade or demote Hutch and keep Pavs if Helle stays up with the team. Depending on Helles progress, you trade Pavs when you think Helle is ready for the starter's job and bring up Hutch or Comrie. Just a thought, does anyone think Paves would be a good number two goalie making 1.8m or so a year for a a couple years? Play in about 30 games a year.
  22. Trade Hutch, keep Pavs here until Helle is ready for the starter's role.
  23. Pav is the better goalie this year and, arguably, last year too. He makes more saves when the team needs it. Hutchinson has really regressed. Pavs gives us average goaltending and Hutchisn't giving us that. We need above average goaltending. I hope we see Helle against the Leafs.
  24. Staf cleared the zone, they were allowed to bring it back in untouched.
  25. I couldn't agree more..... Helle has to start the next game and if he wins it, he should get the next start too. We can't afford to lose games like this....especially when most teams around us in the standings that were playing tonight took home points. Four wins for November... Tough schedule coming up after TO... Chicago twice, St. Louis, Caps, Rangers with CBJ thrown in. If we win only 2 of these games, we'll be hard pressed to make the playoffs.
