if the coach is responsible for the penalty killing unit and the players taking too many penalties way too many penalties actually then Maurice is part of the problem. Injuries were a huge part of the problem. Players underperforming are another reason. I don't put the blame on the power play because we are tied for around 15th as of last night. I even think part of the problem was the horrendous schedule and of course the goaltending is below average.

I was wrong in thinking someone would take him. I am ecstatic someone took him. Helle was called up with a 2-7-1 record last year....call up Comrie and give him a handful of games....what could it hurt??? Afraid to find out he is or isn't a good goalie? We absolutely fleeced them on that trade. They think they won because they got Eichel in the draft???????? Myers is far from dead weight but an argument could be made for Stu being dead weight. The thing is, we are an injury away from Stu starting unless Myers is back. Myers will help solidify the back end as Chiarot and Postma are both 7th or 8th D men at best. I would guess that Postma moves to the pressbox as soon as Myers is back. Doesn't sound like he is that far away.

Myers is on the trip according to Maurice...not saying he will play but he is on the trip. Made room on the roster (pressbox) for Postma?

rookie and inconsistent is what I have been saying about Helle all along actually...I give him credit when he plays well. You forgot Burmi... I don't post about them incessantly I defend my views and opinions. They rarely change and I admit when they do, unlike some posters on here. Until we get consistent goaltending, I will harp on it as much as Goalie harps on a coaching change. He should go back and listen to some of Maurice's interviews at the start of the season and end of TC where he stated that he was going to change lines around and that injecting new players into the system was part of the plan from the first interview he had with Cheveldayoff and that they would have to live with some growing pains....here's your pains...young and inconsistent. Floyd, We need a goalie for the expansion draft, not necessarily Hutch. Don't have to send him down now though.

What is sad is that nobody is admitting goaltending is part of the problem...face facts, it is part of the problem.

I still say trade him as soon as he is healthy by the way. A young D man that is expansion draft free.

I have came right out and said at least twice injuries is the number one problem. Also, I thought comments like giving Maurice more than 5-6 games with a healthy roster kind of implies it. Maybe it doesn't? I dunno

I didn't know all along but they were showing signs of it before their losing streak on the road...I said we should take a look at Comrie.....been saying it since training camp but I was saying around the ASG....Hutch's play changed my mind and I think we should look at him for 3-4 starts now. Hutch can sit and lose out on his "development".

You should read them more thorough then...I have always said injuries are the number one reason the team is doing poorly...it is just that when I point out poor goaltending when we get it, certain people think that I am saying it is the only reason. Kinda like when I was dumping on Staf and Stu and Thorbs but the difference being, I think Helle has a future with the club....Hutch certainly doesn't. edit ... actually, Little's injury hurt this team more than most people realize.

I have blamed the injuries mostly but you only see what you want to. Did you see that rebound Helle let out after a wrist shot from the blueline last game for the first goal? QUALITY goaltending. Hellevarebound!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why you have your shite in a know about losing Burmi?....it is a bonus to the team to lose him and not have to pay him 1.55m on the farm...I am glad he is gone. Maurice says that he and Burmi differed on what his role on the team should be. Maurice said Burmi is right that he didn't give him the time with players he wanted to play with but why should he have? His play didn't warrant it. I would be surprised if he is still in the league next year. Room for Comrie on the roster now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A comment from another site...what do you think? Should we have had an experienced goalie with the team this year? "There is no reason to use the draft and develop model for goalies. Goalies can't learn to be a number one while playing bad as a starter. They learn to be a number one first in the minors and then as a backup. It's time to get a number one and see if either helle or comrie develop into something. There is no reason to wait and hope they grow into the position. To me all the discussion about coaching or powerplays or whatever is meaningless. The issue with this team right from the first game of the year is goaltending. Full stop. When everyone is healthy this is a good roster. Young or not. But everything that has been built gets pulled down by one player. It's not like a left winger who you can give time to develop. A goalie can't develop while being a starter. The difference between in and out of the playoff race isn't that big anymore. Take the games that sub par goaltending has cost the jets and make even half of them wins and the team is at least on the plus side of 500. It is very frustrating. I can't imagine what it's like as a player or coach. The team and Maurice's career hangs almost entirely on a goalie with 50 games in the NHL. Why would they not go get a proven veteran to allow the young guys to develop properly."

I just honestly don't see us making the playoffs and haven't for some time. I don't see us making up the points we need to when we are on pace for around 77 points. I said before and still believe we will start playing better around the middle of this month but too little too late. I think it would be best to look at some more younger players. Take a look at Roslo for 4 or 5 games before the end of the year. Call Comrie up (could do that right now AND keep Hutch up with Burmi gone) to see what he can do in the bigs....give him 3 starts in 10 games behind Helle. Let him ride the planes and get big money for 2 or 3 weeks. Take a look at Lemieux, Connor, De Leo. Bring Tanev back up.
