Whew, a win. Maurice must be relieved that he isn't being fired after all, what with the national media talking about it and all... Matthias and Armia didn't show much rust and their line was arguably the best for the Jets tonight. Lowry even looked more confident with the puck tonight. Trouba played well and it is nice to see some goals starting to go in for Ehlers because he deserves it.

Does anybody think Chevy has a say on who sits in the Press Box and who dresses? I don't think he should but I think he probably does.

I am interested to see if either or both of them get any penalty killing time. I honestly don't think anybody will be fired before the end of the year. The coach has had a depleted team for the past couple of months he deserves a couple of months with a healthy team not a couple of games.

The only reason Staf should be playing is for another team to scout him. Otherwise, sitting Copp for Stafford is ridiculous. I haven't heard of Tanev or Copp being nicked up?

Does anyone think Chevy wanted to sign Trouba to a bridge deal and held out until he signed it?

He plays 5 vs 5 almost exclusively with Buff.

Although, they played Morrissey on the RH side in the pre-season and he has played there before in junior. He didn't complain either... edit ... Chevy might have got the steal of the draft that year...

Myers is better than those two but they shouldn't be in the league. Myers would be our 3rd best RHD and 5th best D man. Should have been traded a year ago. Bring in a 3RHD that makes 1.5m-2m or so that knows what to do with the puck in his own zone. I think we'll see Myers or Trouba moved at, just before, or just after the expansion/entry drafts. I hope it is Myers. No need for a big, soft, always injured D man that takes up 5.5m of the salary cap.

I forgot to mention....I can't figure out who is worse, Postma or Chiarot.

Morrissey will take up a lot of the O coming from the back in the upcoming years. We need to worry about goals against. Something interesting I just read... "( CHI - 96 WPG- 88 ) so CHI has only scored 8 more goals than the Jets in the same number of GP. But for GA ( CHI - 79 WPG - 99 ) CHI has given up 20 fewer goals in the same number of GP, with a worse PK. "

I wonder if Mattias and Armia see PK time?

I would be too but I'd still try. We need LHD depth still.

Little's injury affected this team BIG time.

Helle has been good lately but the team has let in 26 goals in their 6 losses this month. They are around 13th in goals scored so scoring is about middle of the pack. The PK needs more attention than the PP if you ask me. How many PK goals have we allowed this year? I am guessing a lot. Just looked it up...3rd last in PK% and last in the most goals allowed...6th last in PP%... We aren't making the playoffs so if anyone has injuries that need to be looked at, get it done now and take a better look at some of the kids. I don't think Chevy will make any major changes, players-wise, before the expansion draft. I'd try really hard to sign Alzner this summer. 6 x 5m should do it.

I don't mean to sound so negative since that loss but as far as I'm concerned, it cinched not making the playoffs for us. Too many "stars" had such horrid games in such an important game. If my math is correct, we need 57 points (90 points for the season) in 47 games to sneak into the playoffs. 28-18-1? doubt it 26-14-5? doubt it I'd rather talk about what management is going to do once Armia and Matthias are back after the break. I like the fact that Petan started last night and showed well for first game back from injury. Now, put him on the same PP unit as Laine. I honestly think Thorbs is here for the rest of the season so I'm not going to mention him and pretend his ass is pressboxed with Stuart's for the rest of the season. One of or both of Burmi and Staf need to go and it doesn't really matter where. Traded or Moose, do it. I know his 4.35m and Pavs' 3.9m doesn't look good but neither does his play. Burmi would not be missed. That leaves us with ESL, Wheeler, Armia, Dano, Little, Lowry, Petan, MP, Copp, Matthias, Tanev. That is 13 players so one of these rides the pine, not necessarily the same player every game. Missing anyone?

One of the issues that nobody seems to want to talk about is goaltending...overall team D plays a part in this but it needs to get better. Helle played a not bad game last night but the Jets' goaltending over the season is below average to say the least. It is inconsistent and that I attribute to not much experience but the goaltending HAS to get better. Only the Stars have let in more goals than the Jets so far this season. Think about that for a second. They are letting in 2.97 goals a game and seem to let in one goal a game that sinks us. That game is a much different game if Helle stops that breakaway. Don't tell me he shouldn't have stopped it because how many breakaways have we been stopped on this season and how many shots are saved in the shootouts? Goalies need to come up with the big saves in the 3rd to keep their team in the games. Their goalie had a good game and I find myself saying that a lot this season. Are we making the other team's goalies look good? As bad as Vancouver is, if they win tomorrow they have the same number of points as the Jets with 2 less games played. At the beginning of the season I thought the Canucks were the worst team in the league.

maybe because he likes living here and his family is here and his kids are in school?

Buff abd Enstrom have no movement clauses so they aren't going anywhere.
