After the last game it was "nothing but a mere flesh wound" and today Petan is injured??? Okay... Getting Little back is huge but he hasn't played in about 50 games so we shouldn't expect tooooo much before he gets in game shape. Give him 5 or 6 games and we will be a better team. -

Petan sitting and Thorbs playing??????? -
he played with thorburn for quite a while.
-
They also watched a not ready for prime time Nik Ehlers blossom into a bona fide NHL player by year's end last year after starting very slowly...
-
That is debatable but management had the perfect opportunity to send him down when he was coming back off of injury and decided to sit Burmi and dress him. His D game was coming around before his injury. I think his development is better served getting 10-14 minutes a game with the Jets.

Helle is the best we have and hasn't had a lot of help in front of him but other than 2 or 3 games he has played average at best. We need above average goaltending. I am patient enough to wait though. He is not gong to be an allstar goalie in his first year and how good would Price be in the Jets' net this year? Helle/Comrie is the future.

A 2nd rounder if they take Matthias?
-
pfttt. You must have a short memory. I remember Armia ALWAYS playing a defensively smart game. I remember Armia going in the corners and against the boards and coming out with the puck and winning his battles. I remember Armia setting up his linemates numerous times every game, not just against Dallas. I also remember Armia being a very, very good PKer.....something he has done most of his career.

PK and PP are not set during preseason so you can't take a lot from that. We're missing a few players from the PP and the PK due to injuries. Is Enstrom not on the 1PK? Armia? Little is on the 1PP or 2PP...hard to say seeing as he hasn't really played this year. Gotta say again, this team will be better when he gets 5 or 6 games under his belt and MP and our D men come back. Morrissey's play this year has been instrumental in the Jets not falling even further back from a playoff spot. I see him as a 1LHD in the not too distant future.
-
Armia was arguably the best forward when he went down and was beginning to almost dominate shifts. He was dragging Lowry and Matthias with him. Imagine what he would do with Little and a competent LWer? edit... and a beast on the PK.
-
Isn't special team usually handled by assistants? Isn't that why Kompon was brought in? It'll be telling this off-season what they do with his contract because isn't next year the last of this deal?
-
Helle was great and our best PKer. I wonder when Hutch sees a game. Is Maurice only going to play him on b2bs? They have to keep out of the box though. Also have to shore up the PP. The 2nd PP unit didn't look too bad today.
-
Lowry is a 4th line center and Armia is at least a 3rd line winger and probably a 2nd line winger. Copp is better at faceoffs and more sound defensively. We don't lose a lot by going from Lowry to Copp. Now, I know management won't want to lose Lowry.
-
If we are going 8-1 and protecting 4 forwards....Scheif, Little and Wheeler. Who else do you protect? I'd protect Armia.

Vegas has their new HC?

Maurice's injury update... Bryan Little and Mathieu Perreault both got on the ice this morning. On Mathieu Perreault: “That’s Mathieu’s first time on the ice in an awfully long time. Even when he declares himself ready to play he’s got to get back on the ice.” On Bryan Little: “Bryan’s been skating fairly regularly. He’s going to get cleared for contact in our next practice which is a huge hurdle. And then it will be how he feels after contact over a couple of days and getting his skating legs again. He’s been off the ice for such a long time.” On both Perreault and Little he indicated “Even when these guys get that 100% green light, it’s not an upper-body injury really, where you can just hop right back in because you’ve been able to keep your legs, you’re going to have to do some skating to get them ready.” On Tyler Myers: “Myers is still aways away.” On both Joel Armia & Shawn Matthias: “Clearly long term still. We are talking end of December.”

Don't worry, he'll miraculously become a better coach once the injured players are back. 103 man games lost to injury already...
-
defensive effort because they didn't allow a goal and killed the penalties. Helle was very good.
-
I can't believe that you don't think injuries are a problem because injuries are by far the biggest reason the team isn't doing well.

Game 25 : The Devil's Brigade @ Saviour Stafford

The Devils lost their last game in a SO and the one before in OT so let's help them with the trifecta and give them a loss in regulation time. Is Little back? -
Trouba has arguably been the best defenseman on the team since he came back. He is not anywhere near the reason this team is where they are.
-
does this win make Maurice a better coach now? Can we stop building The Gallows for a while? This is going to be a hard season to judge anyone in management or on the team because of all of the injuries we have them.
-
I will give credit where credit is due. I am probably the hardest of anyone on Stafford but he played a pretty good game today. I really really like morrissey's game and trouba had a really strong game as well. Most veterans played very well.
