At minimum the Bombers need good ST players - and they both do that aspect well. We all saw how important kick coverage is last year.

I’m not sure how we got to a point where Dru Brown is anywhere near as reliably good as Collaros. It is debatable whether Masoli will be ready to play a snap this year. Potential doesn’t out rank proven. I’ll go with our guys and hope Barriere can show something to stick around. OL has : Bryant and Richmond at Tackle Neufeld; Eli; Dobson at Guard Kolankowski and Eli at Centre Without doing anything else that is the best starting six in the league. I’m good with what is taking place in those areas.

Right now we are shaping up to have the best OL and QB situation in the league. Pretty good base for your offence.

This is what I am saying. Paying $140k for a vet NI OL that has shown to be competent- if not near the top at his position (at least last year) is really nothing to be upset about. On top of that - It will not have any impact on their offer to Brady or Dalton. If Eli can’t come in and win the spot it is on him. Nobody is holding him back.

But that is what you are up against negotiating a salary - other people paying more than what they may be worth. There are more examples of overpaying in free agency than in re-signing ahead of free agency. Pretty confident in that. $140k is not a big salary for a competent starting NI OL.

Walters has said repeatedly this salary structure is based on position and where they are willing to allocate the money. Seems to have worked well.

Well Eli earned a starters spot, lost it, and has not got it back. This fall back on “MOS just falls in love with guys for no reason” as a mantra can’t be used in every case. Some see it …some don’t.

It better to have too many options at OL than not enough. We all know that.

People get stuck in opinions on players (myself included) but the reality is these guys are going to typically have good and below average stretches throughout the year - minus a guy like Big Stan (historically) who is maybe the best OL to ever play. Consistency is what separates the average guy from the elite stars. Doesn’t mean the average to above average guys suck.

I don’t see much out there appreciably better. The top tier NI guards probably make 40k more than that and can’t play Centre. He isn’t as bad as he gets portrayed here. Not even close.

It is sort of sketch to sign a guy with an eye towards trading him before he gets to FA and can pick the place he wants to go. I guess if you were up front with him - then it is all good. You don’t want guys afraid to commit.
