Weird, I just want the best player possible there. As do I .. but the vibe coming out of camp is such that Hurl has all but been anointed our new starting MLB (at least when you hear the staff talk about him) .. so my hope is that one of those three guys steps up and makes the decision extremely hard .. that the competition is fierce and that someone isn't being handed a starting gig because: * they had the right passport * they were a "name" free agent acquisition * the people competing for the spot crapped the bed For full disclosure, I'm not a huge fan of Hurl. I feel he lacks range and athleticism ..which leads to being a liability in coverage. I also want an extremely physical MLB and feel strongly that either Allen or Bass can fill that role more ably. That said, if he (Hurl) steps up and over performs my expectations, I'll be pleasantly surprised and will be rooting for the guy. Too important a position to just anoint a guy with a better option behind him, I'm hoping.

Why not just say you released him? Why do you have to add in that he asked to be released? It is all just semantics, but why lie?

Strange that anyone has any opinion really I guess. Well why does Tuinei getting love resonate as fact, but Hurl getting love is posturing to defend a salary? I could easily play the card that if a guy the size of Tuinei with the college pedigree he possesses was legit, he would be on an NFL roster. Nobody bats an eye at him getting positive reviews at camp. It's because Hurl has a last name that reminds people of vomit. Every time I saw Hurl wearing that horrifically ugly Rider "signature" jersey, I thought it captured the moment perfectly.

It is strange that people are excited for Tuinei( I'll be honest I see him getting cut, but we shall see ) , and Adams, who have had shots in this league and done nothing, but Hurl is a done deal stretch of a starter.

I would say you haven't seen enough of him to know for sure. He may not be more than depth, but he is at a critical point in his career, so maybe he will step up.

I'm a Vikes fan, listen to KFAN daily, I remember AJ talking about this injury numerous times (Childs blowing out both knees on the same play) as it happened right in front of him. At one point Adams was seen by some NFL scouts as a potential NFL first round draft pick. He appears to be a physical, athletic, competitive guy with great ball awareness. Those Spartan guys play with an edge. Can't wait to see him in a game.
