  1. The key to this is depth. It accommodates for injuries a lot better if we have another legit Canadian starter. What happens is Jones gets injured out of camp and misses another season for example?
  2. Like I've been saying it's not going to be bad. Even if they had to go with Couture, Bryant, Hardrick and Foketi as a worst case scenario it wouldn't be bad.
  3. The only question i have about the offensive line is whether it will still be the best in the league. It could potentially be just above average but it's not an area where i'm concerned.
  4. He may have won the small battle with Calgary but he's going to war with Winnipeg!
  5. After this signing Brian Ramsey truely i say some teams will be at a "significant competitive advantage"!
  6. When Tburg is happy its like the drop the mic moment in "Old School" when Will Ferrel had the perfect debate response. There's nothing more that needs to or can be said
  7. I wonder what his salary looks like compared to receivers of similar ilk who signed during the free agent frenzy. I have a feel we got a good value on him.
  8. That and this guy gonna make Lapo look better than he actually is right?
  9. Bombers confirm the signing.. 3 year deal which is nice because he's only 29!
  10. I think we get a dedicated returner even without Ackie but that would be a plus. DI's LB, K, Roh, Returner.
  11. Yeah.. I think this team is gonna be just fine. We will have enough talent around those positions to ease the players in. 5th and field-side corner are fairly well protected positions. Not huge volume is sent to weakside / 5th WR. I say we look at going with a Canadian at WR5 and let all the kids battle it out for fieldside corner. Center.. We the offensive line didn't look out of place when Speller started and its either going to be a more experienced version of him or a better player in Couture. Playing Simonise at WR5 means that if need be we can start Foketi who i don't think is a drop off from Chung or if Gray or our 4th overall pick are ready we go with one of them and let them grow.
  12. He's exactly what is needed in a Lapo/Nichols based offense. A guy who due to his height is always an option to throw to. A lot of the roll out and dumps can turn into deep ball attempts to matthews!
  13. YES!!! We needed that! OK ready for the season to start!
  14. Question for my elders in here. What the heck was up with Dieter Brock? Based on my research he went to the NFL at age 34 right after his worst season in the CFL. He performed pretty well in the NFL and was on the all-rookie team and then never played football again....
  15. I guess we now know where the CFL buries its' bones!
  16. People still bitter he chose to sign in Montreal over Winnipeg.
  17. I can’t stand Henry Burris just as much as the next guy. But I don’t think you can argue with what he did in the field. Turned 3 franchises around. Had many more 30 td plus seasons than Ricky Ray and even a 43 td season. And additionally he added yards on the ground that Ricky never did. Ricky has inflated yardage stats because he was limited to the passing game.
  18. No mop’s and fewer 30 td seasons than Trevor Harris... Ricky Ray consistently accumulated yardage. I’ll give him that.
  19. This I agree with. I think there needs to be a Grey Cup wins against replacement stat. As it is right now you should win one out of 9 to be league average. Damon Allen is another QB who was over rated IMO due to the longevity factor. And what I mean by over rated is if you’re going based on career stats alone to make judgements on how great they were. I base it more on how good was a player in their peak. More of a Bobby Orr was the greatest player ever type of view. Jeff Garcia IMO was a greater CFL qb than Damon Allen but he moved onto the NFL so didn’t put up the career stats.
  20. He doesn’t need to be. AC was miles better than Ricky Ray.
  21. And how much of the it is a carry over from Huffnagel?
  22. Im just saying that I wouldn’t automatically do it. I would need to do some more research. I’d put Henry Burris above him though off the top of my head. I think we are too quick to add players near the top of an all time list and those lists have a tendency of favoring more recent players who may have played in an era where passing is a bigger part of the game. How many MOP’s did he have over all the years he was in the league?
  23. Not the first time ... thanks for pointing that out.
  24. This could turn out well. Bombers get a complete training camp and Calgary and Edmonton end up missing a few days. That would be pretty sweet!
  25. I agreed with the decision to stick with Nichols even though I’m I big believer in Streveler. If there’s one thing I put more faith into than anything else it’s math. And the math on raw rookies leading a team to the Grey Cup in the CFL is pretty bleak. This year I’d be much more comfortable switching starting qbs if Nichols is still limited like last season.
