No no. Just saying that if he goes through some prolonged rough patches again like last year I think Streveler will get a chance to takeover this season and he could potentially never give the job back. I believe Nichols contract is coming up after this year and if Streveler shows really well this season I could see Winnipeg moving on if Nichols wants big bucks like some of these other qbs have got.
-
I think we keep developing Bennet. He’s experienced now and there are things that could happen this season which could lead to Streveler being the starter next year and if that happens I want a 2nd string qb who’s experienced.

Imagine this Hazel is legit at his size in a receiving core already featuring Matthews and Wolitarsky. Nichols better work on his high point!

Could be this year’s Taylor Loeffler!

Wow.. Because this league needs to create new revenue streams or else we'll end up being the XFL's Mexico! -

It might be a case of all veterans starters salaries get a decrease and not limited to 3. If its just three then i don't see it having a big impact other than that your elite americans get paid more. -

By that same logic they should have reduced the minimum salary and not increased it. If you could pay a rookie 30k then there would be more roster spots for rookies right? What the league now offers a rookie is more money and if you make the grade a longer career as well. -

You can't really give to one without taking from the other in this regard. -

Jason Gregor is reporting that for these players a certain percentage of their salary won't count against the cap. So it could be a case that the more you have the more you save. -

The problem with rewarding teams for having a Canadian backup is with 3 qbs on the roster every team is going to dress the equipment managers as the 3rd string qb. It should be a case where if you play a Canadain qb while he is in the game you can insert a DI for a different Canadian. -

Ok.. And what happens if a bunch of them get injured? And how exactly is the Canadian QB in the ratio? Im assuming they have to actually be on the field to provide any ratio benefits? -

I would hope that it would have to be 3 years with the same team. Or else this is a bit nuts. -

Maybe if you start enough veteran americans you can dress an additional DI for a Canadian. Doesn't technically affect the ratio. Or maybe a percentage of these vet's salaries won't count against the cap? -

The combination of an incentive for american vets starting and rookies becoming more expensive should really lead to more continuity. Guys like Fenner must be pleased. -

An incentive for starting a certain number of veteran Americans. Man this can't be something that's considered good news for BC. -

This is what I’m hoping for. If globals can count as a Canadian and the cfl fronts a lot of the costs of running combined exts for global players you will end up seeing global players in the cfl and they will only be here if they are increasing the overall talent of a squad. -
It’s been their history when they have two first round picks to draft one and then draft more of a future type guy because they don’t budget for two first round picks. There was also a report this year that they were shopping one of the picks for this reason.
-
Yeah but considering they didn’t have a budget for two first round picks it’s really the ideal scenario. I wonder if they would have traded the pick had betts and kongbo been off the board already.
-
Yeah plus the team saves money this way.
-
I assumed the Bombers would sign Kongbo and put him on the 6 game injured list but now I'm starting to think they will wait until he's able to practice to sign him.

How is it possible they got a deal done even though Ambrosie was in Mexico on a non-negotiating day?
