  1. I would imagine Mark Chapman's name will pop up. A receiver who is the former 1st overall pick in the CFL draft would become available too. I wonder if he's somebody Hamilton would be looking to trade at this point. He kind of made a decent decision.. Make a decent chunk of change in the AAF while not playing and can now get 1st overall type cfl money and be in camp in a few weeks.
  2. Still. There’s probably a number of players in this league who could come in and compete. With this I would expect the level of cfl rookies this year to surpass what was seen in last years camp.
  3. I’m expecting that most of the players in this league will be interested in coming to the cfl. They will have never made their whole salaries and be feeling like they want to take a chance at making money now rather then waiting another year for another start up league. Let’s neg list receivers now. Would also like to see us go after Ciante Evans.
  4. Yeah. That I believe. I think he would leave to be a head coach in a good situation. I don’t think he would take just anything though. He probably has one more crack at being a head coach and doesn’t want to blow it on another bad situation like the first time he was a head coach. I also dont see him being a good fit fit south of the border. He’s a good cfl offensive mind because he really understands the Canadian game and really takes advantage of the waggle and the size of the field ect.
  5. I'm not convinced that Lapo wants to be an offensive co-ordinator outside of Winnipeg all that much.
  6. Yeah i agree 100%. It's a repeating cycle. Some new league in the states forms and people think "this" time it will work. It fails and then everyone thinks it will never work. Wait a few years and people forget and get suckered into thinking it might work the next time. But after all the talk about how the AAF was legit and it was run be real football people ect ect... With this fresh in people's mind I don't see people giving the XFL much of a shot right now.
  7. Once this league folds Winnipeg should put some of their unspent free agent bucks in Ciante Evans.
  8. My understanding is the he committed to putting 250 in. But so far he’s put in about 60 million and they increases by 10 million power week.
  9. I wonder if they weren’t reacting to the xfl by paying too much too soon thinking they would lock in a bunch of talent before the xfl could do anything about it. May have sealed their fate though.
  10. Westwood is a former player and there’s cfl bargaining negotiations going on right now. Players stand together and abviously want to see more job opportunities.
  11. It could be a bluff and it could be a last gasp effort.. The league is already losing 10 million dollars a week and that's only going to get worse once they have competition from the XFL. Wouldn't be surprised if he cut his losses. I don't see the NFLPA loaning players to the league with such an emphasis on reducing the amount of contact players endure.
  12. This and wait for a proven cfl commodity to be cut from the nfl the with cap space available. We should be fine.
  13. I just have a hard time believing there are more football registrations in Saskatchewan than in Ontario.
  14. By the sounds of it its something would be by iffy to happen in time for their second season. The problem these days is that its all about player safety. Coaches in the NFL don't like how few reps players get in practice. But the idea of having players play in extra games during the offseason would likely pose a push back from a players safety standpoint.
  15. Probably the only reason he signed in the AAF was because he could get a shot at playing DB. I imagine that he believes his only NFL pathway is at DB. I would hope he's prepared to move on from that at this point.
  16. I would imagine not a whole lot will come of it unless they create a new ratio for players who come from outside North America. If that happens then I could see there being the potential to grow a television market overseas and in Mexico.
  17. In terms of offseason bonuses it’s something that i think can be viewed more than one way. We have to keep in mind that this is a negotiation. If you’re buying a car do you give the dealership 5 grand up front that they get to keep regardless of whether you end up purchasing a vehicle? The money that’s being paid in these bonuses is for playing in the upcoming season. So what happens if the season is lost due to the labor dispute? Do the players then pay back the unearned money? As Darian Durant proved the owners would have no recourse in recovery the unearned funds.
  18. CFL has more bargaining power than most league's. The main advantage is that the players aren't already millionaires. They rely on the money to make ends meat. Players don't want to see a lockout any more than owners do. These are players who are under contract. They decided against the sure money of the AAF to stay in this league. They would really miss out now if there was a lost season.
  19. I don't think anybody is expecting it to happen suddenly. However, it's logical that if things get to the point where players have a real opportunity to come to the CFL and play that they would want to best prepare their players for the tranistion. Its kind of pointless to play American rules when there is no real opportunity to make the jump to the NFL.
  20. This would explain why the XFL is a year behind.
  21. He might be an alright GM by now. His main problem in Winnipeg is he had been away from the league for too long. If he's learned from his mistakes he was pretty good at finding talent south of the line.
  22. I was thinking that Charles Nelson and Wolotarsky might be the slots.
  23. The problem will again be that Demski has the other slot/runningback hybrid position locked down. We need to keep upgrading our Canadian talent so we can find way to get talented young players into the line regardless of position.
  24. I’ve been saying for a while that just becuase a player gets cut from the AAF doesn’t mean they wouldn’t be a good cfl player. The cfl is filled with guys who got cut from another cfl team and then finally got their opportunity and produced. Even though the overall talent in the aaf is limited it’s a different game. I believe that players in the aaf get assigned to teams based on where they went to college. If he didn’t fit the scheme of one coach he gets cut. Doesn’t mean that he’s not a good football player.
  25. I should have been more clear. Accuracy is more important. What I was trying to suggest was that relative to the American game arm strength matter more in the Canadian game than the America game due to the width of the field.
