He needs to do now what he should have done years ago. Start running routes.

Pretty much says it all... Expect BC to be major players in the QB free agent market.

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
Colin Unger replied to SpeedFlex27's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If Bo comes back to Calgary they are going to have to make some cuts elsewhere. According to TSN his last contract was for 320k per year and on the open market in the cfl he could easily command north of 500k. He’s won Grey Cups and i think if he doesn’t go to the NFL I see him wanting to get as much money as possible at this point. -

Can’t see why they wouldn’t be completely committed to Masoli after the year he had. Would have been even better had Brandon Banks not got hurt. -

The end of January takes us 2 weeks ahead of cfl free agency. -

They will get the new cba hammered out. Players aren’t getting their offseason bonuses until the deal is signed and with the new leagues starting up owners actually have motivation to give more to the players. It will take some time but I think it gets done in January. -
They already were a playoff team.

If he doesn't come back it won't be because of anything Walters did or didn't do.

At first I thought Winnipeg would need to go out and sign a proven middle linebacker if Bighill departs. However, upon thought I think Santos Knox would definitely be moved into his role. Nobody is Adam Bighill but Knox is ready. They would spend the money elsewhere.
-
Glad to see Adam Bighill give thanks to Winnipeg, the fans, and the Canadian Mafia. But boy did it ever sound like a goodbye...

True. But other teams at least have a designated import on offense. It seems like Winnipeg has been trying to give Hall as much to work with as possible and giving scraps to Lapo knowing that he’d still find a way to produce points. A lot of good cfl players have started as kick returners and developing into elite offensive players. Brandon Banks and Charles Roberts come immediately to mind.
-
Part of the issue is that it’s difficult to develop players when you only have 3 skilled positions reserved for Americans on offence. We’ve even been using a starting DB as our main returner.

I was thinking if he’s going to play another season he might as well play for a good team with a good running game. If he’s willing to go to Montreal he might as well donate his brain to CTE research now.
-
It hadn’t been a meaningless play.
-
Haven’t heard this mentioned. But if Ricky Ray wants to keep play and is available should we be taking a look at that?
-
The guy need to buy that ball machine off Kamu Peterson and start running routes.
-
Whether it’s Jennings or Nichols I think a Streveler deserved a shot at more playing time. Options will be limited if Nichols won’t play for what he’s worth.
-
Interesting. I still make an assumption here that they won’t end up with Herdman, Bighill and Eliminian. If they sign Bighill I think Eliminian would be released.

Winnipeg has the second best record in the cfl in terms of wins and losses since Lapo came here and led the cfl in offensive points and offensive touchdowns this season. In the passing game he just doesn’t have the talent on the field. His qb was behind James Franklin on Edmonton’s depth chart when we traded a box of tape to get him. Dressler wasn’t wanted anywhere else and none of our other receivers did much anywhere else before we picked them up off life support. Its not my intention to defend Lapo it’s just that in the face of a massive over reaction I have to respond. At at this point it’s the players. We all wanted Richie Hall fired last year and then he was given the talent he needed and the defence thrived. LaPolice was given scraps from other teams and a total of 3 skilled import spots on the roster to work with and led the league in touchdowns and points scored. They need to improve but that won’t happen until they give him the talent other teams have. Like I’ve said I don’t see him as a head coach so bringing up failures in that regard don’t register with me.

The first year that I have memories from was 1990... it’s been all downhill since then.
-
I’d take that over relying on our scouting department to find a gem. This is of coarse only if we don’t sign Bighill.
-
If Bighill signs in BC we gotta go hard after Elimimian.
-
Let’s pay him enough to move his family to Winnipeg!

The depth on this offensive line is great. With Chung, Goosen and Couture still free agents I bet we already have enough under contract to have a respectable offensive line. Hardrick, Bryant, Gray, Neufeld, Speller at center. Montreal would take that.

Teams generally go down hill after he leaves. He’s the best offensive coordinator we’ve had since firing Paul LaPolice who was the best offensive co-ordinator we had since the previous time we fired him.
