  1. quite the cast in this, looks like it could be a gooder
  2. Does anyone remember if Walters said they weren't done before or after the Lefevour/denmark signings? Just wondering if were still in play for anyone, and if so, any guesses?
  3. it could be a train wreck, Best is likely done, apparently looking at surgery he's been putting off for a while. as throwlong mentioned, Clark and Coleman aren't very good. Jones has recently said JSJ is going to have to commit himself to the weight room and football which isn't a ringing endorsement. I believe he had a knock on him at the combine last year too about half assing it and putting up some rather mediocre #s Dennis and a healthy Labatte are good though but 2 guys dont make up a line and Labatte might still be a ?
  4. I think it's a little of both, player and scheme. Hall was with us in 2015 as well where Westerman saw 17 sacks, then he only got 8 sacks last year but our turn overs sky rocketed. Personally I didn't feel Cummings and Shologan got a good enough push up the middle and as a result teams were able to isolate Westerman better (plus our other DE position was practically non existent). I'm not completely sold on Thomas as a starting DT, perhaps if we draft that Ankou he might be good to go sooner then later. But I do think Okpalaugo on the other edge is immediately better than Cole or Green, and Nevis... I didn't watch him enough to form an opinion tbh but he sounds pretty well revered by those who did watch him more closely
  5. I personally believe we can upgrade on Thomas (Laing for example ) but if the season started today we have Harris, JFG, Chungh, Goossen, Westerman, Thomas and Loffler as our starting 7 NIs
  6. Okpalaugo is a DE, at this point Thomas replaces Shologan, Nevis replaces Cummings and Okp replaces Green/Cole at DE
  7. If this is true wonder if he'll catch on somewhere in this role?
  8. 1st point it's still a waste of time whatever way you want to spin it, negotiating, neg listing, potential spot burned at camp. for a team without a starter I'd be spend my time and effort on shoring up that critical hole not dinking around with young period. 2nd you might have a billion receivers and in good shape to make a trade but it takes 2 to tango and reed/Hervey might not be interested no matter what you offer
  9. Walter's doesn't waste his time with Vince Young. we also picked up Nichols in 2015 so we didn't just roll into 2016 on a hope and prayer
  10. I don'the see a valid comparison with Glenn and lefevour. Glenn may very well end up starting for the riders more times then not in 2017 whereas lefevour will likely be our short yardage qb and potentially an insurance policy if Nichols gets hurt and Davis can't deliver
  11. If I was Hervey I would just keep asking for more and more everytime Jones came calling for Franklin. each attempt to trade for him shows signs of desperation. Adams might be the most probable trade, but Reed should still bend Jones over the barrel for what he had to give up just to negotiate with DD
  12. Well with Laing he is a NI and a proven commodity (had a great year in 2015 with TO before testing the NFL) , he would be my first pick. I consider most rookies "projects" because for the most part they don't start and even if you have to start them for whatever reason, it's much more rare to get a Loffler then it is to get a Waggoner - who really only sees the field on teams. I suppose we could recruit a import DT as you say, but I'm not sure if walters has a good pipeline for DL, practically everyone he's brought in has been through FA, even Thomas himself was a 2012 draft pick, a year before Walters took over as GM. I like Corney and think Thomas in his current role of spelling guys off for a few downs is good, but we can certainly upgrade and make our DL something monsterous
  13. my understanding is he has NFL interest again, also heard he's got a gentlemen's agreement with Ottawa if it doesn't pan out, but he is better then Thomas and wouldn't need to rotate. I suppose we could draft Eli Ankou, but having drafted Corney already, how many projects do we need on the DL? Granted Corney is a DE, I would still rather we draft an OL and possibly the best receiver available with our 6th pick
  14. would offering him similar to Nevis (125K) be considered too much?
  15. I voted somewhat satisfied, need to pull that trigger on Laing or Cash and complete our D line. Thomas starting just doesnt cut it for me. If he signs either i'd bump my vote up to happily satisfied
  16. riders sign Bakari Grant and Glenn Love. another laughable signing (Grant). I guess Jones is preparing to trade off a lot of that "awesome" rider fans have been getting chubs over all last year
  17. awesome news arguably our best receiver last year **edit: I see Hustler&lawless tweet says he's been with winnipeg for 7 years?? seriously that seems super long
  18. I don't mean to pick on the Lions, but who do they have on the DL that is really that good? IMO they are a high powered offensive team, but I thought they were extremely suspect on D, thats why our meetings with them were such high scoring games
  19. I might also put Nichols at 3rd. he was 10-3 and prorated for the 18 he had pretty similar #s to Jennings. and the reason why Nichols would get the nod over Jennings in that case is because BC sucks. its a scientific fact
  20. I agree with most of this except I'd grade our DL a little higher. even if we have thomas as one of the DT's, Westerman Nevis and OkP should be a force
  21. given Taylor's tweet, I got curious, if the season started tomorrow (barring no further FA signings today) where would you rank each of our positions in the west?
  22. kids got some nice moves and a good arm for 10! (and a southpaw to boot) problem with that young of age, is the defense likely aren't that good yet. My son just finished peewee (11 &12) and theres a few really good players across the league, but a lot of the time they look so good because they are running wild on some of the kids that are smaller and less gifted. I'm sure being from texas this kid will have a lot of eyes on him as he moves up in age. The thing with that Brave Williams, is he looks extremely raw (likely why he hasn't got any scholarship offers) but he's got size you can't teach and he's only been playing 3 years. at 17 if he got some decent coaching over the next few years he could be something decent flying under the radar
  23. we should neg list this kid, 7'1" 400lbs nose tackle, and the kids only 17... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2664094-71-hs-lineman-brave-williams-is-taller-and-heavier-than-anyone-in-the-nfl
