  1. Realistically I can see both sides of the argument. $400k for 3 years sounds like a lot, but im assuming jsj & hardaway think he will be an immediate starter, or at least will be sooner than later, and $133k/year for a starting ni tackle, it is a steal of a price. And if that was the set price for three years - thats beneficial to the riders. if you look at it based on his passport and position, imo its not that significant of a bump from 80k as the cap hits would be only 133k a year. Of course the precedent contracts for #1s has been what, 80k plus 20k incentive? I think the biggest issue when comparing mateas and chungh was the signing bonus and guaranteed monies (?) I'm sure with the contractual shape taman left the riders in + the recent burns while under their watch (price) jones and murphy are probably like **** that, the moment those words are mentioned now. I only followed some of the jsj story briefly, such as the recent trade me statement, but im curious, are hardaway/jsj really approaching this like hes a recently drafted, 1st yr rookie? Or is this a case of, eventually im gonna command like 180k+-$200k+ for all that I am, 133k now per year for a ni ol is peanuts take it while you can? Im a little surprised they didnt offer minimum + extra off field perks. I cant imagine the riders are in cap hell after restructuring durant, mass exodus' ing 1/3 of their roster in 1 day, letting high contracts walk (dressler/chick). So I dunno why they're cheapin out unless they are making a statement after the retirements, non negoiations with some... gotta take control of the situation as a gm at some point and stop letting players try to dictate the game
  2. so in that blabbering i wrote, the question was are there any locks for starting LBs? I'm sure in the fairness of competition the coaches will always say its anyone's job to be had, but have guys like Wild and Bass done enough to ensure job security. imo yes. not to say they couldnt rotate at times with some other awesome talent we have in the wings, but that article made it seem like there is no sure thing. i disagree
  3. So I was reading the sun today and the article on wild. Osh saying theres about 5 really good lbs on the team n if we can keep them all thatd be great for changing up looks and plays. I got the impression by the article that wilds really gotta bring it to secure his place on the starting /constant line up. Is there really any doubt that hes the ncumbent starter and its the other guys that need to bring it to stick? Was this just a polite way to say everyones got a chance even tho reality says they're competing for back up roles to bass, wild and hurl (?)
  4. what I took away from the interviews was that Lapo is running high tempo offensive schemes and is bring a lot of excitement and energy to the field/sidelines. yes he says hes a teacher, but that wasnt the main point that came across for me
  5. I actually watched their entire playoff run. i get the feeling cleveland gifted them those 2 wins in TO so they didnt sweep a 3rd straight series, thats alot of lost revenue for 3 missed game 5's (and potentially 7s)
  6. and of course this classic
  7. a song im really digging on the radio last few days is
  8. I didnt even know murderdolls were still around, havent heard anything from them since
  9. FWIW harris looked sharped yesterday on day one, so he wasnt dogging it. If the coaches are ok with him not here today, its probably for good reason
  10. I thought veltung looked good out there, better then davis and D. adams imo
  11. I think it was corney (43?) that looks like hes got one hell of a motor on him
  12. I didnt stay for all of practice, my kid wanted to go to mcdonalds, but we were placing bets during the 5-6 man racing drills. we rolled up our programs and pretended we were at the track
  13. didnt even notice richards out there (if he was playing) only hair that stood out for me was Butcher, Waggoner and one player with like red or pink dreads I thought richards shaved his head tho
  14. andrew harris looks smooth as a receiver, I wonder if it would be far fetched to slot him in as a receiver if one of flanders or anderson end up being too good to let go (sounded like they got some good reviews from rookie camp)
  15. Bucknor had a couple nice picks and butcher wins hair of the day. Posey had a nice pick too
  16. as a coach I think Jones is far superior, though has he ever gone to a team that was in the shape the riders are/were in years previously? Even great coaches would have some trouble managing a bad team. I was more referring the Jones the GM and from what i can tell he's been very hit and miss and some really questionable moves (if accurate) such as getting rid of/lowballing fan favorites, irregardless of what Taman had lined up for them. then signing flakes like price and trading away picks. Bartel, Gainey, apparently lowballing his #1 pick. It will really be telling what kind of stuff he's really made of after this year but right now it looks like the failure kelly set himself up for without even playing a game
  17. kelly made some questionable moves right off the hop, getting rid of glenn and bringing in lefors. While that extreme isnt quite matched, coming in, releasing 19 players, letting dressler and chick go bringing in price...ect Kelly took a very controlled approached to all aspects of the team, so has jones. Jones might not be the media clown kelly was but hes equally dividing the fan base to a very black and white like state, same as it was here. Ourbombers was very divided board while kelly was running the show. As fans we intially give benefit to the doubt and support the new guys taking over (see the IMWT movement) but guys who come in and make bold moves really set them selves up for sink or swim. Believe me if this rebuild year isnt a good one, it doesnt matter about logic and patience, the "vocal minority" will get loud and unruly. bank on it
  18. holy **** i mentioned the eerie similarities with kelly and jones so far a while ago on riderfans and got **** on like i was paul mccallums house
  19. if they were smart, king of the ring or night of champions would be a champ vs champ on opposing shows fighting for bragging rights
  20. I use it for old movies too a lot. Like roddy piper in hell comes to frogtown
  21. most of the movies watched on kodi (for myself anyways) are dvds that get released months ahead of the NA release date over seas. so i have to put up with some subtitles, but it doesnt bother me. If they want my $ then release them at the same time, tho id need a dvd player again...
  22. Im not saying the 4th pick would require everything, Im saying every thread ends up being trade this or trade that, and really there should just be 1 general trade thread to spit ball Ideas, Instead of constantly hearing myers, trouba or enstrom + picks for ____
  23. there should be 1 general trade thread, every single hockey thread turns into fantasy gm and trading off everything
  24. holy buzz killington lol
  25. I've been rewatching metalocalypse at night before bed and totally forgot how much i love their songs. Brendan small really did a fantastic job with that show;
