  1. the comparison is the gap between mikawos and Jake which is massive. You could argue smith in the 90s before he played ages beyond his prime, but he’s as much a product of the system and talent around him as any one in the hof. You’re right about monk though. That is a better comparison. Rb is soo insanely deep with talent when you look at the guys from the late 90s to before rb load management, it’s not even funny. Larry Allen the most outstanding player on that offense imo.
  2. Tbh I’m not worried about guard and I wouldn’t pay Dobson top dollar. Wallace will be as good this year imo. This, C even more than RT is our issue.
  3. I don’t get wanting to spend 230-300k on WRs, 200+ on a back and 600k on a qb but not paying dl. I’d much rather pay dl than wr or rb.
  4. I think we got one more move either in free agency in the bargain bin or a trade maybe around draft time. I think we likely target db or maybe ol. It’s already been a very active off season for the cfl and surprising. Expect any thing tbh.
  5. No doubt it’s crazy. It’s like Emmitt smith being the all time nfl rushing leader. But not even close to a top 5 or even 10 back. Is Jake a hofer? If mos has any thing to say lol. Honestly our dl talent in the all time pool hasn’t seen many guys join its rank in the past 30 years. I like Jake for a big chunk of his career, especially as a rotational 3tech. (Though I did want more dual big nt imps in 19/21) Im good if he goes into our hall. Hes a great guy and has played a very fruitful career here. Never a selfish moment. His usage since stove left isn’t his fault. I really hate what mos and others have done to guys like Jake. Watching guys run out who can’t play any more is awful. Unfortunately we’ve seen a hell of a lot of this the past 25 years.
  6. We didn’t want to pay sayles. Or Kongbo. Or stove. We thought every guy we ran out would perform at that level. Even Jake. And he/they didn’t.
  7. Yup. I think it’s actually easier in the cfl, if you have a nose and a couple 3 tech guys who can rush out of a 30, even more so if you have an end who can rush standing up. Guys who can kick in and outside are tremendous. Soo many rushers get caught up going one way only. Power or speed. By the fact is inside the line most teams are weak to any thing more than vanilla. Especially bit elite import athleticism. Stove wasn’t the best technical rusher inside. He was monstrously strong with incredible power. Using quickness to hit hard and drive angles around guards is money in the cfl. Casey sayles does it really well.
  8. That was an extraordinary win for the Vic fangio style defense. The same we ran sooo much of last year. 0 blitzes, 6 sacks, 15 pressures on 32 pass plays. Almost a pressure on every other snap.
  9. From the bits I’ve heard I have no doubt that his ire, distrust, and quick temper were stoked by circumstances outside of his control.
  10. Too lazy to do the math, is that right? 7 months seems soo short I thought he was hurt early last year. But those early weeks and month to two was pretty bad.
  11. If he had a decent play call in those games we might’ve seen the last of zach. the rider fans were the hardest on him imo. I wish I had an inside view as to what happened last year. Buck flashed potential in the past, saw some great game plans LT start games, and some really good adjustments. He let zach do what zach is best at for a while. That all changed soo hard last year, I feel like some thing had to have been up. Pure speculation, but I wonder if he wanted Dru brown to take over.
  12. Strev carried us for two games, with the worst ol play we’ve had since drew willys days, and the worst wr play too. Even worse offensive play call and game plan as well. Dukes was as protected as humanly possible by the situation and system he played in. And he was still meh. I would pass on dukes, cut both riders and take Masoli in a heat beat. Best chance to go into a game off the bench and win. But we have strevy so that won’t happen. All these guys below strevy Zach and Wilson are tc arms. I think if you give Strev a decent system and let him make plays, he’d put pass dukes too. But I do agree, basically the worst case scenario with strevy is a guy who gives us hands down a better chance to win.
  13. Fajardo had the same issue. I bet Montreal would be the best move for him. he isn’t better than Wilson, or strevy. He is better than the rider off casts. His fit is also worse here than most any place else. We’ve seen Wilson and strevy in the worst possible situations. Dukes was spoon fed the best possible situation. Dukes is in the same tier as the rider off casts, but he’s ahead of them just based on potential. In the cfl, the qb2 is gonna be leading your team at some point. I would not be ok with dukes being qb2 short of a massive leap forward from him.
  14. Yeah I don’t get the take that strevy has his shot or can’t pass at all. We haven’t seen him run a normal offence in the cfl since 2018. We did see him run an offence with the jets in pre season. He needs to be allowed to run dynamically. He isn’t Mike Vick or Lamar Jackson. Being more of a power runner he shouldn’t be running a lot of designed plays. When he does they should be designed to get him in space for easy yards. Not hammering away option runs between the tackles.
  15. He's raw. Last year was his second year and first starting. IF you aren't going to put arbuckle in in a situation like that, why have him on your roster? Remember, Wilson is OLDER than dukes still. He was a young guy forced into action virtually right away. You know what you get with Arbuckle, if a D has a chance to prepare for him they should beat him. Dukes is still largely an unknown he hasn't had the chance yet to try to adjust to how teams play him. Like I said, I'm not crazy about Dukes, arbuckle, or either rider off cast qb. But Dukes easily has the most potential of that whole group. All 3 are old and well-exposed in the CFL.
  16. Doubt it. Think this will be his last season though.
  17. Neither is great, but dukes has raw potential. Hoenstly if strevy is healthy in decent time and Wilson has continued to grow I’m not worried. QBs 4/5 are camp arms. I can see value in having 2 experienced league guys in at those spots to bring along WRs/dbs and get the offence installed faster. No one has to make the adjustment to the Canadian game every one has run O in games.
  18. No Joke. I’m not crazy on duke, but Patterson is a big old pile of meh.
  19. Shivers was an extremely talented gm/scout. But that was basically his side job. His main job was holding grudges. I can say some of those were well earned and justified. But when you are always that angry and have grudges against soo many you gotta be part of the problem too.
  20. Yep. Always comes down to that with QBs.
  21. He has all the tools you could want. Raw talent, Athleticism, and arm. He can be a dual threat and run package stuff but he tends to take what’s in front of him. Not a run to run instinct guy. He’s a run to throw guy who’s dangerous with his legs. Strong guy to not just his arm, Carried some tacklers in college and pushed piles. But great arm stuff. Power, accuracy and touch. Poise, this was a big one for me. From ps up he never looked scared or like pressure affected him negatively. It just changes what’s available and he looks to take what’s open. Mental toughness, competitiveness. Stepping in in that spot and not only being calm/in control but going for the throat like that. And mechanics looks real good. Like his foot work and quick release. He’s got a great economy of movement in his upper and lower body. He can change his release point when the pocket collapses or is on the run as well. His release is soo clean it almost looks like he’s short arming it then the ball just launches from his hand. it’ll come down to what’s between his ears now. I’ve got no questions on the rest of his stuff. If he can run an offense at the pro level and execute pre and post snap reads he’s gonna go far fast. Dru brown took a long time to polish up. Scary terry doesn’t look like he will need all that time.
  22. Dropping dole for dukes makes sense to me. I’m not crazy over dukes, but he’s got a lot more potential and a similar floor. I’d be happy to boot dole early and bring in a rookie development guy.
  23. Same thing happened with lapo. Twice. Reputation and time in the league get you jobs and shots. It’s happened a lot. I mean for an optimal camp we do want one more qb. I thought it’d be a rookie though. a lot of things go into being a good hc. The best hc isn’t often the best co, it’s more about development of players coaches and in game decisions. Lapo is a much better hc than oc imo. Because he’s a great teacher, leader, and boss. His weaknesses at oc aren’t as strong at hc, except he always insisted on running the offence him self.
  24. Yeah. And I’m very excited to see that. I think the nature of his touches evolves. Less hard sledding between the guards. Less random shots and more diverse plays taking advantage of our best guys. I think the touches mostly come out of the junk.
  25. Bucks offence was very different than lapos. And since buck is coaching in bc, you will certainly see changes. We will see which group the counter toss, two back pa stuff was coming from and who was forcing the majority of runs to be izr.
