  1. Doubt it. Think this will be his last season though.
  2. Neither is great, but dukes has raw potential. Hoenstly if strevy is healthy in decent time and Wilson has continued to grow I’m not worried. QBs 4/5 are camp arms. I can see value in having 2 experienced league guys in at those spots to bring along WRs/dbs and get the offence installed faster. No one has to make the adjustment to the Canadian game every one has run O in games.
  3. No Joke. I’m not crazy on duke, but Patterson is a big old pile of meh.
  4. Shivers was an extremely talented gm/scout. But that was basically his side job. His main job was holding grudges. I can say some of those were well earned and justified. But when you are always that angry and have grudges against soo many you gotta be part of the problem too.
  5. Yep. Always comes down to that with QBs.
  6. He has all the tools you could want. Raw talent, Athleticism, and arm. He can be a dual threat and run package stuff but he tends to take what’s in front of him. Not a run to run instinct guy. He’s a run to throw guy who’s dangerous with his legs. Strong guy to not just his arm, Carried some tacklers in college and pushed piles. But great arm stuff. Power, accuracy and touch. Poise, this was a big one for me. From ps up he never looked scared or like pressure affected him negatively. It just changes what’s available and he looks to take what’s open. Mental toughness, competitiveness. Stepping in in that spot and not only being calm/in control but going for the throat like that. And mechanics looks real good. Like his foot work and quick release. He’s got a great economy of movement in his upper and lower body. He can change his release point when the pocket collapses or is on the run as well. His release is soo clean it almost looks like he’s short arming it then the ball just launches from his hand. it’ll come down to what’s between his ears now. I’ve got no questions on the rest of his stuff. If he can run an offense at the pro level and execute pre and post snap reads he’s gonna go far fast. Dru brown took a long time to polish up. Scary terry doesn’t look like he will need all that time.
  7. Dropping dole for dukes makes sense to me. I’m not crazy over dukes, but he’s got a lot more potential and a similar floor. I’d be happy to boot dole early and bring in a rookie development guy.
  8. Same thing happened with lapo. Twice. Reputation and time in the league get you jobs and shots. It’s happened a lot. I mean for an optimal camp we do want one more qb. I thought it’d be a rookie though. a lot of things go into being a good hc. The best hc isn’t often the best co, it’s more about development of players coaches and in game decisions. Lapo is a much better hc than oc imo. Because he’s a great teacher, leader, and boss. His weaknesses at oc aren’t as strong at hc, except he always insisted on running the offence him self.
  9. Yeah. And I’m very excited to see that. I think the nature of his touches evolves. Less hard sledding between the guards. Less random shots and more diverse plays taking advantage of our best guys. I think the touches mostly come out of the junk.
  10. Bucks offence was very different than lapos. And since buck is coaching in bc, you will certainly see changes. We will see which group the counter toss, two back pa stuff was coming from and who was forcing the majority of runs to be izr.
  11. We used him like a freaking battering ram. A better Kerry Joseph or Tracy ham. No not really. The problem is we put him in running terrible packages with little options. Zach has been too quick to tuck the ball and take off. Strevy keeps it alive in his hand till he crosses the line and keeps his eyes down field. Making reads isn’t his problem.
  12. Or use him properly. That’s the million dollar question.
  13. I’ll kick in for the limo and help arrange the police escort A few guys change their mind every year. I feel like Roberson has done this like 2 times before already too Mediocre is all they’ve done since 21. It’s legit to build a team from the bottom up, especially when you think you have the qb in place.
  14. That’d be sick. Just imagine 3dn breaking the news. “The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are attempting to acquire Jake Thomas from the bombers, they’ve offered 4 first round picks. Mos has handcuffed himself to Jake and the bud grant statue in protest.” Hubert was struggling with the speed of the game after a month or so. But he still showed great ability to get off blocks and play the run. Tremendous motor and strength. Love the versatility and football iq. I hope he gets a good shot at development in Hamilton.
  15. If we keep ayers that takes some of the sting out of Cole but I would’ve loved to have both. Oh man that’d tear the roof off this place lmao. Just see mos looking at him from the side line with a tear rolling down his cheek.
  16. If he clicks with zach, watch out. If not, this might be the final and short note on his wiki. I am hopeful they will click though. 🤣 some one do a wellness check on Ted please.
  17. If Cup at home had any sway with the mafia, we would have re-tooled last year going into TC. I honestly don't think they view this year as any different than any of he previous. They should treat it differently. The door is shut and the window is sliding down fast, but they aren't going to.
  18. I agree most of those guys should be replaceable. One thing is for damn sure, it's nice to actually have some speed in the wr core. If they were TCF, they wouldn't have been signed during this period. Cole is a top Sts guy worthy of a DI in that role alone. Hubert is an excellent end AR Canadian who can contribute on a bunch of teams units and rotate actively on the defense, both inside and out. Especially on running downs. Garbutt is a fringe starter in the CFL who picked it up really well late. TCF don't start in the previous GC. Fox has played in the league on 2 teams in 3 years. He struggled with injuries, but that isn't TCF. That is an incredibly talented guy who hasn't been able to translate yet. Training Camp Fodder, as in cannon fodder, is just a body for your actual players to hit. When a guy has significant upside, that isn't TCF. Thats a developmental guy. Everyone on that list has the upside to start in the CFL. At worst, they are low risk high reward guys.
  19. I get that trepidation. And it's not that I'm expecting all or maybe even most of the pick ups to click. I think that Hogan is going to take us back to the jet motion, and I suspect he was the pusher of the 2 back sets we used very sparingly. If we stretch the field side line to side line with jet/2nd back, we don't need the insane top tier wr core again. We need 1 no1 guy that works with zach, and some guys who can get to a spot and catch the ball. I think we have a few guys who can come in and have a chance to be that for zach. Really, that is more important than their talent or what not. We've seen zach lean heavily on all kinds of guys for short periods of time to great success. It's more important that they are of one mind. That's how dalton rocketed up soo fast. He was smart enough to find out what zach likes in each situations and do it. Return to PA, sweep motion, flag and come back concepts will help zach and the offence a lot. I don't think any WR available to us before or during FA is a guy who removes questions with his presence. They mostly bring different question marks. Hoe will he find a way to miss games? Will he disappear? Will he work ok with zach, can he work around schoen and demski etc. That is one that people don't talk about much any more, the wr's you play next to can have a gigantic impact on your own play. We've seen guys like TE and Bruce flourish under milt, and way more guys wilt. We've seen dalton flourish with every one and any one around him. And we've seen kenny flounder and flourish in the same situation. I think Danny, and Walters know what kind of targets Zach will work well with right away. When you look at some of our recent-ish break out guys, we have had a bundle of guys zach trusted right away. Maybe that's why we were married to johnson for soo darn long. Either way, I think one of the rookies we bring into camp will be comparable to Wilson. IF dalton isn't ok, and IF Wilson doesn't come back, which is the worst case scenario, we have a bundle of bodies for zach to find a new guy. And that's what we need IMO. If we brought in a guy like geno, and he and zach didn't mesh, we'd be hooped. I wish we had gotten lawler back. That would've been the best case with some of the guys we got as well. But chasing lawler for stupid money is just stupid. I would've loved if we did get a guy like geno, and the bundle of guys we got, but at that point you likely just bring lawler back. If you ain't cheatin, you ain't tryin. If the forum had busts of all time great meme players, he would be on the rushmore. Along with incompleterson.
  20. For sure. I would want to see that boat level raise more. Say, you get 900k-1m for the 3 active qbs. Then PR qbs get a minimum of the AR rookie minimum. So that the QBs in say the XFL UFL w/e are looking at say 50-70k down south max. Or likely 150-200k here. We need that QB talent these days. Make it more desirable for the best QBs in those leagues to be 3rd stringers here.
  21. But you build into your budget a value for the players as well. Just because you have more money to spend doesn't mean you suddenly become wasteful with it. No way have we offered lawler the kind of money he played on previously. I could see possibly going to other guys, but the mafia is lawful good. If they feel some thing is out of line they aren't going to do it. Be it legal or not.
  22. Not if you have a fixed price for all 3 AR qbs. Or 4 if you want to tack on the PR. You might be able to keep the crazy rourke type deals down.
  23. I wonder if having the qbs on a separate cap in general would be advantageous.
  24. To be honest, I don't know how you even pay kenny 50k+ year more than dalton. 2 out of 3 years in the league dalton has been the best wr in the league. He was injured most of last year. Arguably, Kenny was the best wr in the league once in the shortened season. That's out of 5 years. Kenny is 31 a month into the season. Dalton is 28. Dalton has missed time with 1 major injury. Lawler has missed time because he didn't get his passport done in time, DUI, and various injuries. Dalton averages almost double the YAC each year and more than double the tds. They have the same number of 100 yard games in their career as well. Dalton eclipsed 100 catches in both his healthy seasons. Lawler hasn't done it once.
  25. I bet we moved on when kenny decided to go to FA. We knew we weren't gonna out bid crazy, and he wasn't gonna take a discount.
