  1. Didn't he attempt a come back at some point as well? Maybe 2022 or 23? Speller was a damn good player, I suspect some thing known behind the scenes caused his dumping to TO and perhaps his failure to play after that.
  2. It’s really hard to say how much falls on Walter’s directly. I do feel that some moves like cutting Jackson when mos rostered him soo much is a Walter’s fights back move. But, we are quickly getting to the point where it will be on Walter’s for not doing his job being mos boss and preventing stupid moves. The value in Brady is entirely in the fact he’s a mop candidate Canadian skill position player. Plus the local boy and off the field hero. Could we find a great rb for cheap in the nfl cuts? Yes easily. One that would be a beast in pass pro, excellent pass catcher, great runner who can execute our system and grind out yardage? Yes but not as easy. And that player will be gone after a year for a major payday and or nfl shot. Plus you lose the passport. Brady was the toughest decision this off season. Right or wrong I don’t fault Walter’s. we had much easier decisions to make like with biggie and made the wrong ones.
  3. The strevy package has been limited because we haven’t been able to keep the offence on the field. With bo out, we should be using it significantly more especially on first down. We’ve shown wrinkles like qb sweep, pa qb power, set up qb screen with both him and Zach on the field etc. with Zack’s struggles Strevy is significantly closer to starting here than he would’ve expected. I doubt he’s too upset other than hating losing and seeing the o struggle. you’re right that we’ve struggled more than ever in this era with qb protection and that buck has struggled to adjust with what’s going on. It’s a tough spot, what he has installed from tc we can’t run most of. He has always struggled to counter pressure. We have tools like the roll out and pa boot stuff. We’ve run that to get guys like schoen coming back to the ball in open space but its primary function is to counter pressure. We also haven’t made use of down field quick timing routes, slide pro etc. I am worried about buck. He’s young, but he’s looking like he’s either in a rut and doesn’t know how to break a plateau or he’s hit his ceiling. I think this yeah the goat is still getting his feet wet in coaching, and frankly he’s stuck with a bad punter and frequently this year is punting from deep in our end. Bad position to fake. But aside from the pathetic onside attempt in the gc, it’s been almost 2 seasons of no fakes on punting. Just the reverse and reverse fakes early last year in returns. roster management, old boys club, mos peculiar favouritism of rando sub par guys all that stuff is killing us and has robbed us of an all time dynasty.
  4. If we are under .500 for the bjb, I think the fan base will panic and attendance will plummet. I bet we see a 10-15% drop for the next game as is. I’d love to see Kelly at S, ba looks as bad as ever. Not just athletically and physically but mentally. He’s making decisions and coasting at times like I’d never have expected. Walter’s does have a history of that. Giving faith massive money because he was the no1 pick for instance. Biggie has been worse than all but one maybe two imp lbers in pre season. And those guys had mountains of up side.
  5. Hilariously accurate. Even though they did awful by art howe in the movie.
  6. That’s true, but old bill made the most out of his rosters, had the best game prep in pro sports, and managed to reinvent his team through soo many star departures. Once the gravy train ends, the range a coach gets to be ornery gets real small. bill can be pretty friendly and extremely engaging when asked good questions. That is a fantastic book, so is big book of belichick. The on football and on personnel books are worth the read too, as is Steve belichicks football scouting method book.
  7. I wonder if smith was a move made by walters. Mos for what ever reason really likes Mitchell. But we are insanely thin at kr and rb. Maybe mos isnt going to roster him unless he has to. Idk tin foil hat stuff. It makes no sense to leave smith off the AR. Augustine is already banged up, if he goes down we have a fb who isn’t really to be a fb and a sts fb left. Or our qb2, or wr2. Not good options for full time in a game. My expectations for this weeks ar are low, and still I think I’ll be disappointed.
  8. I don’t understand how we can be at the start of week 3, the guy played 6 days before week 1 and was in shape. If he’s recovered hth could he fall out of shape in barely 2 weeks. That’s messed up even for an excuse. @Atomic thanks for posting a transcript of the coaches show. I couldn’t stand or listen and won’t again.
  9. He isn’t that guy. Good change of pace back, really just a first down back. Out side of own carry Augustine averaged barely 2 yards per carry. You can’t run bully ball when you’re constantly in 2nd and 7 or 8. Augustine can’t and doesn’t punish defenders physically. He can gash yardage and get into the secondary.
  10. Oh right haha. I expect to be as bad at this as our offence is right now. Ever since McGuire retired I’ve been trash at it lol.
  11. I don’t agree. Either would be an upgrade, but every one has played a nose against us going back to mid to late last year and ravaged the pocket. I think going imp at guard would be fine, Wallace could slide in and be an upgrade too. He has some struggles to endure and a learning curve but he has tremendous upside and looked fantastic in pre season game one. 19 Collaros was a different animal for sure. I don’t think it’s some physical issue preventing him from running, though he could certainly have lost a step and he was never crazy fast. He’s soo hesitant, and just tucks it right away so the D pins their ears back when they see it. I do suspect Zachs hand has never been the same going back to last year. Twice last year and once the year before he hit his throwing hand bad on helmets during the follow through. Could be part of the hesitant thing though. But the ball looks terrible leaving his hand this year. He hasn’t just struggled with touch this year or accuracy it’s been both and under throwing virtually every window. It’s hard to say how much is rust (he clearly has been struggling with game speed) how much is deterioration, and how much is supporting cast. If we fix the ol and get weapons healthy things will improve. But I don’t expect to see the guy who scores a td on every drive while cruising to 400/4 and an early to mid 4th quarter exit.
  12. My picks seem messed up/ lost for some reason.
  13. Streveler again! Till I lose out. @Jpan85 I did put in for strevy in week 1 as well, I should have 2 strikes.
  14. Keep in mind we gave up 130 rush yards and 6plus yards per carry while generating 2 sacks. Our was better in preseason with out Thomas. O is the big worry for sure though. We have run some fast stuff with success with him, problem is he only sticks to it for soo long. It’s like not throwing deep tears him up in side lol.
  15. Same here. I expect mostly across the board position for position swaps on the AR.
  16. WJ is still impactful, when he has the proper supporting cast. But with his dependence on them and his tendency to get lost roving/playing for PKDs, I don't think he should be a top dollar guy. Also having his family here full time I don't think free agency would have the lure it once did for him, not to mention he isn't getting younger. I think the 285 for lawler that was re negotiated down from I think 315, is still too much. My biggest concern with him is staying on the field. He's a beast other wise, though the offence really seems to go from relying on him to forgetting about him. I don't think buck has done a good job of integrating schoen and lawler at the same time. He's certainly what we need more of, especially with how much football he should have left in him. Buck is still young for coaching life, being 42. This is his 4th year as an OC full time though, the inconsistency in things like running, schemes, adjustments, and route concepts worries me.
  17. Never been a fan of having the punter hold. Let a QB do it and leave your self options. Watch if augustine can't go they will start MCI LOL. Who is taking the rb spot in practice?
  18. Opps yeah thats right. Even if we get 6 games of relief, it's too late for that money to make a real impact. But I think we will have few guys actually finish the 6 game stint. Our cap distribution is hamstrung by a bunch of old guys who can't produce or aren't used. We need to fix the roster management, but we also need to fix some cap issues. We are stuck between competing and getting younger only we aren't competing right now. And it's only going to get hotter in bomber town, if we don't hit a win streak right away it will be damn hard to be above .500 after the BJB.
  19. Agree with all of that. Of those two, bolo is the one I wish we couldve kept. He's got the upside, demski is old and has had a lot of injury issues plus I don't see woli playing into old age or a wheel chair. I wonder if we still would've jumped into FA and brought in a big time player on D, I kind of doubt it. But that would've been the move imo. Idk, Yoshi is over the hill cant stay healthy and to pay him drastically more than big stan isn't in line with how we do things. Thats a good point. That was an ugly stretch of games too. At Zachs age though, I don't think changing will happen. If we moved on from Zach in the of season, we could've traded him for a significant value as well. I don't think 600k is crippling, I think what cripples us is how many fringe guys we pay premium money to. Like how much we spent between augustine and BO last year. Also, ach has taken a reduction in salary to the 600k. I'm guessing he is in the 550k range now at least, which is pretty standard. Right around 10% of the salary cap. Biggie is making 165, WJ 200k, lawson 140k, jake for sure north of 100k, kramdi making 140k, neuf north of 100k for sure, probably 240 between bo and augustine this year, 3 of the top 4 wrs combining for around 740k. We have a LOT of over paid guys, even sergios hard money is a good chunk more than any other K/P in the league coming close to 150k.
  20. ohh thats interesting I might have to try that! QFT LOL
  21. Never seen it done and look ok.
  22. Ahhh that makes some sense. Kinda fishy but I don’t know that they’d get more from rose than from our film last year with the jy change. Sucks for rose. I gotta think that’s it for him now up here. You can before the cut date, after that they’d need to be bought out i think. You can keep them around and having them on the 6 game is optional. Doesn’t cost the sms but player is still paid. Really depends on if you think the player makes your roster after the injury or not. Any doubt might as well cut and let them rehab a lone. Some times, players also want to rehab at home on their own vs rehab at the facility with team staff.
  23. He did. And he was roughed up to a great degree in his first several games. He’s been sacked in the cfl the equivalent of one good years worth of protection but with out one years worth of starts. His sacks per games with decent snaps is actually not great, because when he’s been in teams blitz like crazy. He doesn’t need to be great to be a better decision than Zach, he basically just needs to not be a bust. If his ceiling is Matt Nichols average he’d be a better pick. We have seen enough to know he can manage a game, drive the field on the last possession to win a game, beat the blitz and take what the D gives him. All things we have seen from Zach in about half a years worth of games. He can also beat teams deep and complete any pass on the field.
  24. You’ve clearly missed his first several appearances. Especially his first year appearances. It isn’t a small amount of playing time that can’t be used to gauge him, it got him the lead of a franchise and qb1 money.
  25. Interesting that the rbs cut rose to sign McFadden
