  1. Yes, because Ayer’s and Cole are on the roster. So if you take one off you still have one imp back up. The same depth as the dl and secondary. Taking Ayer’s off for a de would perfectly even out the imp depth. Then a start and an imp have to get hurt at any position to put you in a bad spot. That’s the point.
  2. But its teh cAnAdIaN football league. Canadians can do any thing americans can do just as well! GCN20 is bang on. Aside from QB, a canadian that can actually cover american wrs as a DB is the rarest ratio breaker. Next rarest is ones who can pass pro at the Tackle spot. The talent level has gotten drastically better among NI players, and athleticism too. But we also have a ton of Ben cahoon level canadians now. And even with all that, the default basis of teams NI ratio is 1 interior DL, 3 interior OL, and a 5th wr in the slot. The final spots are often filled out by a lber, a 2nd slot, and/or a S who has a limited role. Basically plug up the smallest zone in cover 3 schemes, come up into the box as needed, play the ceiling on robber stuff etc. It's seldom that an NI S is even asked to take the deepest man up the middle. Generally the better of the DHbs/Sam has that responsibility.
  3. Shawn lemon grabs the phone… yeah Vegas gimmie 10k on Brady going over the rushing total!
  4. no, ayers would go in. If cole AND wilson went down then you'd be onto gauthier or kramdi. If two guys go down at the same position any where on the field youre in trouble,.
  5. No because we have Cole. I was complimentary of our defensive roster as well if you read the posts lol.
  6. I mean he didn’t enter with those guys. He didn’t take over mid season. Neither of those guys should’ve been cos. Just awful. Yep came into town like a lion went out like a lamb. Great dude, good teams co. I’m happy he beat cancer had a turn around up here and I’m happy for him to be coaching in hawaii that’s the perfect place for him.
  7. It’s true. But his guys loved him and did fight for him. Problem is he had the worst gm, him self.
  8. Thomas or an ni ol for Hubert. only go one imp wr as kr and 5 th. Ayers since we have Cole could come off for an imp.
  9. Adams is also our most explosive nose, he should move around a lot, if he gets stuck at edge we lose out. He’s a guy who the offence will have to account for, which makes the blocking assignments soo much harder. Especially when we already have Willy. The more he moves the harder it is to block. In general our defensive depth is really good across the board. With tons of flexibility. Db goes down? We got multiple guys who can go in. Wil/mac same thing. Dt plenty of guys. The only real thin spot is back up de. If we had that we’d have a masterfully balanced defensive roster.
  10. I would agree generally, I think it’s also a matter of a guy with marginal explosiveness losing a step as well. He’s still strong, he had a strong motor in the past but it’s long gone, so now what little explosion he can muster wears him out. Right? Why not recall a de? 100% bang on. Jake should’ve been the pass rush lane guy next to a nose. When he was in that role next to guys like Nevis poop stove etc he played his best. for my money it’d be the 2nd imp lber. he does. I’m not worried about his speed, even when he was winded in the last pre season game he was still a beast. My concern is his ability to maintain that speed the edge requires with out gassing the best ones play a ton of techniques. Gap rushing, twisting, playing on the edge, playing nose great dts can do a ton. Adams in college played nose, edge in a 30 and 40, and rushed from the inside like Casey sayles role was here.
  11. Think we will have to agree to disagree, because of course snap count stats aren't important. We spent half of last year with no official stats lol. I plan to track them for week 1 Though. If it doesn't work out I'll re watch the game and track them. I would bet my house walker took more snaps, he played a ton of snaps at edge too though. I think the rotations and snap numbers will show how much control JY has over the D. That as well as blitzes, especially mlber blitzes, as well as how deep the cushion is.
  12. Yeah. The DL/tackle box is always my primary watch, especially on TV. I think it's going to be a big debut.
  13. Limited? Idk about that. He was playing a bit more than Lawson all last year. Only wj played more snaps imo. If you go way back to the last time we had two imp dts and Jake and Kongbo I’d agree his reps were in a good spot. At that time I don’t think any of the dl was playing too many snaps. Adams in rotational will be exceptional imo. I think he needs time before he can play as many reps at de as dt though. But his cardio might be back to where it needs to be already. I’d be thrilled if it was. Yeah I can’t wait for garbutt to be back.
  14. I’m not too worried about lber depth actually with Cole and Ayer’s as back ups. I think Kamdi could even play wil in a pinch. My concern roster wise is really the edge. If wj or habba go down we are going to have big guys playing full time out of position. Adams is a monster I hope his wind is up to par now. But it might not be up to that. End can involve a whole lot more running that is necessary. His range is a bonus at dt, a bit one. But it’s not optional as a full time de. cole gives us a ton of versatility. Wish Kelly was healthy but with him and a real cover db back up, another wil, and dts we are in a good spot. If we use guys well. My hopes rest on the shoulders of JY
  15. Idk when that was the case. If any thing we haven't rotated well the last couple of years. When ba has been out we haven't gone to imp S very often, same with jake coming off for an imp. Our DI useage has not given us the flexibility the last couple of years to do that. Even our general roster the last two years hasn't had the versatility to have that kind of flex. With luck, Schmekle will play more reps than jake (though probable closer to even at best) where their combined reps are about as much as the 2nd imp DT. He has certainly earned some snaps this year.
  16. 2 redshirt seasons with nebraska lol, where he was rudy ruettiger. 13 career solo tackles over 4 seasons, including his time at buffalo. 3 games in his first 3 years. They gave him a scholarship and played him the last 6 games of a 3 win season. IF he put up monster testing numers and wasn't a 30 ish year old rookie maybe. He wasn't that athlete though. Kelly right to the 6 game, hope its not that serious. Might be worth tracking subs on the defensive front.
  17. I get why they brought in Jackson. Big body, tough guy, if he could long snap, play FB, some DE, a bunch of teams packages and be a kick cover demon, that's strong value. Even for a DI. But despite a year and a full TC here, of all those things they only part he really played here was a big guy who used to be a marine.
  18. To be fair, he wasn't really even an american football player. He was a rando marine that long snapped a few times. On any given day we have at least 4-5 guys who read this forum who qualify more as an american football player. Heck some of the guys drafted in this last years entry draft are more american football players than jackson. His is the greatest up jumped TCF story in history. Mos has the most random man crushes. I was watching baumings YT channel and mos was talking about great KRs, and guys who played a full time position and did KR jobs. Who did he talk about? I immediately thought it must be pinball! maybe rocket? The newer guys like speedy B? Maybe a deep cut with marvin coleman? Nope, Chuck Winters.
  19. I think he had better knowledge and game planning than Daley. But I think Daley was more amenable. Daley might've been the least talented HC we've had in recent memory. Other guys who are worse like kelly did atleast have some talent. Daley always seemed like a guy who lied on his resume and got the job any way, but was too nice to fire. Fire the off season. No more breaks, once the GC ends, we have a week of free agency the draft then go right back into another season!
  20. I also think that using a NA on BA easing him back into work, with maybe Cole at S would have been a big benefit. Certainly could be. Imo, it isn't the same impact on D as it is on O. Bunch of rookies on O throw off timing and design. On D, you can have vets support guys in their role much easier. Because our rookies would be spread across all 3 levels I think that is as good as you can ask for. Kyrie can help Ayers, Willy/jake even fox can help the DL, BA/nichols can help guys in the secondary. We would even have good splits side to side for the rookie in the secondary. It is also possible they don't think those guys are ready just yet and are picking it up a bit slower. Or worry about the rookie wall, Injuries etc. As long as BA is ok, rotate in the young guys on the front, and we stagger Jake/Gauthier I think the D will be good. If we get Cole, Ayers, woods, and Adams a decent number of snaps I think our D will out perform our O. I agree with that. The problem is far from solved, but it is certainly improved. Though we did cut jackson. If walters didn't cut him, I think he'd be a DI again right now.
  21. I feel like the league is going to try and sweep this under the carpet and not punish the front office sadly.
  22. Boy the one dentist in the province would be awful lonely. A really good stand up show would work at half time IMO.
  23. Yep. Sucks but he's banged up. Hopefully he's healthy soon.
  24. Tell toronto, and the rest of canada that. It was a bit tongue and cheek, but would you kick out the none canadians from the CEBL? (I don't know much about the CEBL keep in mind.) Or what if the NFL decided to only field american players. Would that be fair or ok? Would that be pro winning? Or how about the integration and the color line of baseball? I think it says a lot that the NFL is doing work with the international player program after running a league in europe, combing for players all over, and the cfl has added the global draft, and the only person in football going in the opposite direction is MOS.
