  1. More than any thing I think they look at the less tangibles. FIFO, coachability, toughness, prep and off field work ethic. The stuff you don’t get as much of from scouts and conversations with coaches. That and how quick they pick things up.
  2. All our imp dl played well. Thing is, playing well against starting rider ol vs 4th string riders ol is a big difference.
  3. At least in a buck and Zach era I agree. If buck took a hc gig next year and Zach retired, maybe they’d look else where.
  4. Last year we had the most trouble protecting Collaros, and under thrown deep balls are a classic sign of the pocket being pushed back onto the qb. When you throw deep against a straight pressure or are hit when throwing the ball tends to sail. That’s why we saw soo many pics going back to the early mafia days we had soo many dominant import pocket pushing nose tackles.
  5. I think they could also change time keeping like Booch is saying to accomplish a better pre season. If instead of 2-3 quarters they play the second half with only injury stops of the time and a few other tweaks you could half the time the second half takes. And that’s always the worst quality football. It’d be a bit on the wild side, but they could play a half of regular football then do an ot shoot out, or you could play a quarter then an ot then a quarter. 2 fast games and a full pad / contact half game scrimmage would be good imo.
  6. And the best offensive weapon of the 3. Stiff arming much bigger guys into the dirt.
  7. Yeah I don’t think longer games would be better at all. If any thing I’d rather see shorter pre season games and more of them.
  8. Stokes was on grants level in terms of explosive gains, but no where near his consistent ability to gain yards, especially the tough hard yards. Stokes was a much better offensive player though. 2500 rec yards 10 TDS.
  9. Can’t be. I hear he’s the fastest guy in the league. Right up there with tyreek hill!
  10. That would be a great change. I think adjusting the amount of injured roster guys you can have would be good too. If teams want to over do it and hurt their own ability to handle camps it’s on them. Id say let players 1-2 years service or less be on a short term ir, can’t practice but can be at team meetings be practice too. Vets don’t need that stuff as much. I like the idea, but the team travel cost as pointed out would be bad and bad blood especially with a few certain teams would be an issue imo. I would add a full padded contact practice for teams to have a real scrimmage game as well. Not a full game, maybe like 8 possessions or one half timed. 4 games of pre season is way too much trash football. And it puts guys at a greater risk of injury in meaningless action. 2 games isn’t enough with the low impact nature of practice and tc now.
  11. That’d be like going over to his house and getting arrested for domestic assault. Annndd banned lol If he does he might not be the same. A lot of time off rust to over come and he still hasn’t played that much. But I really don’t expect him to put in the work.
  12. They sent 2 starters with brown and Crum. That’s why I’m not surprised watching. They are gonna ruin those kids.
  13. Had and lost most of those guys. Bryant as well. Hence burning through them. I believe Nevis was banged up early that camp as well we air lifted dl a couple times.
  14. Nah, once I saw them throwing him and Crum out with all of 2 starters I couldn’t watch. They are gonna ruin both those guys.
  15. I really thought we’d do a round of cuts early this week. We always seem to do one early then announce the final one as late as possible. It does compound the notion that we are doing things differently this year. Though I wonder how much roster turn over and how many rookies are they willing to start? He did but that was also 5 years ago, and we were churning though dts and guys then.
  16. Not sure what his actually size is I see recent stuff saying as low as 246 and as big as 275. But I would think we’d be mainly looking at combo guys it’d make the most sense if he was that big and could play both spots.
  17. Yeah a lot of talk about him hitting a rookie wall hard. That said you can work through it and make use of the guy. Tremendous talent. Too bad 100% those two crashed and burned here. We’ve had a stream of early season bad vet dbs as well. From glass to rock. We can develop and scout dbs very well. We have squandered some talent at db but not much and you always have wasted potential. Db is a position that is among the least concerning here.
  18. In an in deal world I’d love to have qb4 be some one who is a major run threat and can operate the strevy package in case he gets hurt. But otherwise Wilson is an exciting guy to develop. I should add that he played every alignment and position in college. We have made extensive use in the past few years of a heavy set with a dt at end, and that would be right up his alley. Honestly with his athleticism physically he could be a de full time. It requires a lot more polish in edge pass rushing though. Very happy we brought him in.
  19. Upshaw https://www.nfl.com/prospects/taylor-upshaw/32005550-5361-3900-1669-dbc296816ec6 https://arizonawildcats.com/sports/football/roster/taylor-upshaw/15402 Adams I hope we see in the last pre season game. Tremendous upside, will have to see how his game translates to higher level, guys that big and athletic often dominate on that a lone might need a lot of polish. Not too surprised about Barry-eh. Probably gets another look in some ones camp or pr. Makes me think he wasn’t mentally tough enough and or coach able. May havr been a guy who peaked in college or just not a fit here. Grainger is an interesting pick. Can’t see him getting much for reps or play time for a while. Might be a camp arm or they might love his intangibles.
  20. Witherstone was supposed to be having a good camp but didn’t look great in pre season. Adams is a monster athlete. Played naia level 156 tackles 96 solo 20.5 sacks 56 Tfl. Of note, he did a bit of every thing as well in his 3 years. Punting a decent bit some kick offs, carried the ball throwing it mostly on fake punts. Head and shoulders the most talented guy they had. 40 yard average punter with 19 50+. Realistically his punting motion is kinda janky and really slow at times. If he started following through with his leg he could be a legit punter. Might be a guy you could turn into a kick off specialist. https://pscbobcats.com/sports/football/roster/devin--adams/4963 https://nationalscoutingcombine.com/national-scouting-combine-2024-attendee-devin-adams-invited-to-new-england-patriots-mini-camp/ https://www.si.com/nfl/patriots/rookie-minicamp-patriots-invite-absurd-devin-adams https://pscbobcats.com/news/2024/4/29/football-peru-state-to-new-england-patriots-devin-adams.aspx#:~:text=During his time at Peru,State Head Coach Phil Ockinga . https://ras.football/ras-compare/?p1=10989&p2=26142&pos=DT
  21. Barry-eh is cut according to hodge. Replaced by Darren grainger mvp of last years idaho potato bowl https://georgiastatesports.com/sports/football/roster/darren-grainger/6638#:~:text=Accounted for 3%2C357 yards of,season record for a quarterback.
  22. I know we have the week. I’m a little surprised we didn’t cut some guys though. Make room for new ones. In the past we’ve often seen the first wave come early. The way we are crunching for roster spots it makes me think they want to really squeeze the most we can out of the time we have with the guys we have in camp.
  23. Few others too. If they are on the field at the same time we will call it the point break packsge.
