  1. We went 2 for 1 because we were under the PR limit since it opened. I actually think we will see a bit of roster adjustments in the AR, IR, and PR still. We lowkey have a lot of guys banged up at varying levels already.
  2. One spot is, two spots aren’t. Keep the min cut the excess. I presume Ayers will go to pr to get jones on the ar, that’s a nice instant upgrade to teams. Feltman on for mci Qft mci maybe can contribute on kick cover as the last guy on the ar, but that’s a stretch especially when we have other guys who can do that better. He should spend most of the year on the pr, he’s not likely ready to contribute this year. I’d only throw him back on the ar if we have cushion games at the end of the year.
  3. Least it’s an ni fb this time, don’t thin mci is game day ready yet. Might not be this year. At least as a fb/rb Should cut mcghee and a global lber. Keeping either or gemmell is typical roster management around here though.
  4. Stupidfield reveals torn acl, lies about trying to hurt strevy. F&@$ that guy. https://3downnation.com/2024/06/08/alouettes-sam-reggie-stubblefield-reveals-torn-acl-denies-trying-to-injure-chris-streveler/
  5. Any his watch how hardrick played? I might watch the game later but ajs numbers look reaaaal ugly
  6. Yep. I’d just prefer to do it with the imp back up and Adams. Really any of the defensive applications would be beneficial. But it’s the pipe dream of pipe dreams. We have at times burned di spots entirely. Which isn’t any better. Guys get di’d and don’t play.
  7. That makes sense. Even out side of the usual mos stuff, I don’t think he’d want one of the leaders being the designated import. That’s Hamilton culture though. They do any thing for an edge roster wise. It’s multiple hurtles here. Mos won’t use a fake Canadian type rule. Mos won’t use a designation like that on a leader or star. Mos won’t “exploit” a roster rule like that. Personally, I’d use it on kyrie with Cole starting. Maybe wj when garbutt is healthy.
  8. Thanks. I’m not sure who we would use like that that is also eligible. It would work well with wj, but they won’t do that, outside of the fact we don’t use the rule it self they don’t want to use that on our biggest defensive star. Ba seems back and we don’t have the right guy to rotate with him.
  9. Honestly I kinda get it. They were putting the exclamation point on their ship and staking a claim to being the premiered team in the league.
  10. He was out of the pocket and down field, wouldn’t be rtp, he wasn’t a passer any more. Any you cut it, that was a soft marginal at best call in a game with some pretty bad missed calls. Or in other words, “forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.” Wouldn’t be a cfl game with out a horrible inconsistency in penalty enforcement.
  11. One of the interesting things about our D vs mtl, is we used a 30 front about as much as a 40. We blended using a 30 over set with the ends as a jack. With that we may well have spent more time in a 30 than a 40 alignment. But we didn’t drop from the 3-4 over with that end. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that wrinkle in the future. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see more 30 front on run downs when either ayers earns significant reps or biggie comes back.
  12. It’s true but the als were also very smart with when to let go. When you grab push/pull and let go / change hands you get away with it a lot more. They walked the line really well for the most part. Or disguised it masterfully any way.
  13. He does have to walk to line carefully to keep him healthy and not make it so that every time he goes in he is just running. I believe he is working on that as well especially with the 2 QB jet sweep we saw a glimpse of. Lamar jackson and the ravens have done it as well as any team at any level while keeping him reasonably healthy. (86 games over 6 years) The keys to keeping him healthy are 1, strevy needs to know when to stop fighting for yards, and 2, we need to have him throw hand it off and run it so teams can't just run down field every time he comes on. Also, you need to stretch the field in other directions and keep the D honest. To run QB power you have to be spreading the field sideline to sideline, and even more so down field. That way you create big running lanes and leave strevy on DBs not mainly on big body positions.
  14. Yup. No hesitation no fear, catch every ball, run down field. He didn't by any means run the same stuff. PA power option, option toss, qb sweep, none of that stuff is what we've seen before. He also nearly broke a short yardage play for a long score. They didn't let him throw the ball so we didn't really see any thing, but what he did was a LOT better than what poopkup did here. Yup. Go back to the grey cup and we have no wins, and 1 TD pass which was in the pre season, combined.
  15. It's going to be interesting to watch next week in ott. Zachs struggled on the road last year. Despite 4-5 of his home games last year being not great either for yards or picks, his road split was much worse than his home split. His passing yards per game last year on the road are the exact same as his 209 yards last night. Along with a much worse 1.55 tds per game to 1 int per game on the road. Plush the fact we haven't beaten ott or won in ott since week 2 of 2022, where we played them back to back but they played us really hard in both games. With us winning both by a combined 9 points. And a total of just 2 wins in ottawa since week 4 of 2019, an the fact that the ott D will be preparing for us by practicing against Dru Brown who knows what we do inside and out and can run it effectively. It's going to be an interesting match up for sure. Historically we with zach and back to just with mos bounce back from beat downs really well. But each year we answer the bell of being hammered worse. Some thing is gonna give next week.
  16. Well put. Also worthy of a star is Cole. Huge pick, couple great STs stops, some really good plays as the sub on D. Dudes a stud. Ive seen it a couple times, never seen a guy keep his job after doing it though. Yep. He was really off a few times. He also hesitates every single time he gets close to the first point of contact. That's when you need to be hitting it hard.
  17. Thats true, part of it is also that he was faking the pitch too early. His feet are still when he fakes the pitch, so even if the D freezes, he doesn't actually gain any thing. If you take a few steps, you can see the pursuit angle and actually make a read, if you have the angle then you fake and you freeze the D while you accelerate with a speed cut ideally. I suspect that is some thing we will iron out with time. Thorpe is a good DC. That said, Tor also exposed us in the previous GC. It'll be interesting to see how we play the riders this year.
  18. Our offence is feast or famine in terms of passing and passing tds. We have the odd game where teams don't adjust and we score on every drive. But mostly, when we put up a lot of points, it's the first few drives going for scores. We pad a 2-3 TD lead in the first quarter then the other team adjusts and we struggle. It is hard to consistently drive and score in football. Following up a 50 spot the next week is extremely hard. you'll see the dolphins in the NFL do the exact same thing. Be un stoppable one week then can't stop tripping them self up another. To an extent, offenses ebb and flow like that. Great OCs adjust well in game. Buck isn't there right now. Hes still really young for an OC and might get there. In general buck is really strong at prepping a game plan. When his prepped game plan doesn't work, or teams adjust, he doesn't have progressions set up to cover those situations with out whole sale changing what we are doing. A few examples. A game vs edm last year we rocked quick wr screens early. Pushed a lot of yards, but didn't convert. Edm adjusted to the screen and we floundered. Never went back to it, never ran concepts that built off it. Screen and go, jet counter off a jail break screen etc. We run virtually any play from any formation we run, but we don't mix concepts or use concepts to set up multiple looks. Lawler has feasted on a 20 yard out with zach. But we don't include that route on concepts that feature the strengths of schoen. We don't play guys off each other well to force the D into a bad spot. Zach in general struggles with check downs. He tends to be dead locked on his first read. previously, when that wouldn't work he'd get pressure, escape and dalton schoen has made a career of coming back to the ball to bail out the play. That, was basically our 2nd option on a lot of pass plays the last 2 years. But teams are aware of that now. They aren't letting dalton slip away any more. So if we either THUMP teams early with a great game plan and great first looks, or we struggle and continue to struggle.
  19. You poor soul, The only people who should be subjected to re watching that mess are the coaches and players involved. I don't think brady is hurt, might've had to get used to game speed. What I saw was our OL not creating gaps. He wasn't decisive enough early, but did just start taking it and mashing a read after a quarter or so. Much of that side struggled with executing the coverage. Not a ford issue. He can play. Needs some coaching and more experience. Remember that was his 2nd ever start at db as a pro. The first was in the last game of a season. I agree that stupidfield should get suspended for intent to injure. any where 1-4 games would be good. Personally, I would go 3-4 on any attempt to injure. I doubt itll happen though. He will likely get a fine. I think Habba might get one for thumping cody in the head. the ball was out quick, but still you cant do that. Agree on the facemask. Cody dipped his chin with contact and it made it look like it was grabbed. It wasn't.
  20. Honestly, I don't think they should move on quickly from this one. They normally do, but in this case, I think they should stew in it. Because it is an embarrassment, at home, in the home and league opener, in a grey cup rematch where we did the same thing. We have to get back to the point that if a team punches us in the mouth during a game, we answer right away. Not the following week. He gave up a bad pressure. He struggled with the overload, and with pick ups. He wasn't terrible. He wasn't tipping the play again. He can keep his man in front of him, if the guy tries to bull rush him. He is not much better than yoshi last year at dealing with speed off the edge. He doesn't have a big push in the run game either. He's a guard, playing tackle. It's a decent downgrade in the run game. Kola was worse, neuf had 2 whiffs but both were more about assignment pick ups. One with Kola one with Lofton. The one with kola though, was more on kola than him. But normally neuf picks those up in that situation. Dobson was good, couple nice run plays, did his job in pass pro. Big stan was big stan. The asymmetrical overloads, with drops and delays was really effective from montreal. They have been good at creating pressure and disguising looks for a while now. Though all through the pre season we struggled when teams sent extra men to one side or the other. We did have a lot of guys subbing and dumpsterfire quality QBing mostly. But the pattern continues. We saw similar last year that we struggled to deal with speed off the edge. We've gotten away from having Wrs chip, moving the pocket and using roll outs to counter the D.
  21. He certainly looked his advanced age the couple of times he scrambled and the one time he ran. Even going back to last year he will start to scramble or run and it looks like he expects to hit another gear or two that just aren't there. I don't think he has any more of that famous escape roll out double back end zone td pass to darvin adams, not in live fire games. I worry some of what we've seen goes deeper than age, or rust. Zach locking into one target, not checking down missing wide open guys, especially when he's under pressure of any sort. Big game, ol struggles, blitzes, great game plan by the other DC etc. I worry that zach has always been the same guy we saw in ssk, and in the end at Hamilton. but the team around him was soo good especially in end 19/ 21 etc that we could cover. We didnt need him to throw us to wins, every game. The underthrown balls, especially short to medium range, the missed reads, not picking up guys dropping, not checking down all that stuff isn't age. That's where the big struggle is. We've seen qb who have been far more reliant on their athleticism play to old age before. It also happens frequently that the HCF zone would be covered by a lber in cover 3. Montreal seemed to pick up on this mistake on our end and roll the 3rd slot over to fords side leaving the sam there, which likely is supposed to adjust that call. Could be clarified with a re watch, but honestly I have no appetite to rewatch that game. Holm missing some cover 3 deep assignments tells me it's communication and implementation. BA seemed to be trying to straighten it out a couple times, but we was being pulled to the box on some of those plays as well. JY has some work to do, but I think we have the right guys. We should not be playing 2 canadian dbs at the same time nearly soo much though. Wish they worked bridges in more. I wouldn't be surprised if we see atleast 1 of the imp lbers from this camp brought back at some point. The chips been around a while in the nfl for sure. I haven't heard of any issues on their end in a long time. Is the Optical tracking the NFL did in the preseason and that will likely replace the chain gang at some point, capable of collecting the same data? I know price wise the CFL will be a good bit away from having that installed in every stadium, but I think we will benefit in a HUGE way when that tech becomes standard up here. Spots up here are insanely bad with sickening consistency. And I will admit, getting an accurate spot on some plays is insanely hard, especially in short yardage. QFT I think both are right, and that we won't really know how much is skill degradation, how much is rust, and how much is league adjustments/closing of the talent gap between us and the rest of the league, for a couple more weeks. Edit; or the wind factor like JBR said. Things did improve a bit in the 2nd half, but still was far from pretty.
  22. The bombers did a good job of bouncing back the game after getting slapped last year, but boy they did not do a good job of responding in game while being hit in the mouth. And that continued last night. Thing is, Ayers didn't get snaps. Cole took less than 3/4 especially in the first half, but did get a solid half plus of them. Jake ate a ton of the reps. Both wilson and our wil combos got washed out in the line, especially when jake was on the nose. Yep, All 3 of ba, holm, and ford seemed up prepared and un able to adjust or fix it in game. It was a lot of cover 3 with ford being the flat defender. Ford had one bust, holm had 2 by my count, but all in all I'm optimistic the secondary will sort out really well with the guys we have.
