  1. For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong. Often the most talented guys are the hardest to bring up and push through the visa process. No different than college programs have to work hard on the high talent guys who struggle with academics. As it is we will probably never see a guy who cashed NIL cheques in the ncaa up here. We often have guys on the NL for over a year, that’s not just waiting out nfl chances that’s convincing guys to come up.
  2. I think a lot of people, especially fans, under estimate just how hard it is to get American players who’ve never heard of the cfl to come up here. Especially from the south. Front office types scouts especially work americans more than they sleep. coaches, state side agents, and nfl/ncaa scouts are 90% of the pipe line. Guys like Mac win these types over and they help sell kids who are on the out side of the nfl trajectory.
  3. Yeah. safety over aesthetics is understandable. I worry that better helmets and guardian helmets are not the answer to the problem. Plenty of offensive players already use their helmet like a weapon. Is a defensive player going to be called if that thing is the first point of contact? How hard would it be to tackle a qb with one on legally?
  4. Don’t need to have that much of a wr skill here as a kr to back up. But yeah, making the roster as an imp rb here is about as easy as becoming qb1 as a rookie here in week 1 with no injuries.
  5. And got exactly the positions we needed to fill as well. I'd love to see samson break out as well and become platoon partners with Lawson in side.
  6. Mos made a great comment in the presser yesterday. He said that they all really value both CMI and Clercius going into their last ncaa season knowing they weren't going to get the reps that they wanted, but sticking it out with their teams any way and finding new roles to support their teams. Its some thing you dont see in the transfer portal era. Guys hit it and quit it soo fast now. I mean we have lots of guys who transferred multiple times on the roster. It takes a special mind set for guys like that, especially soo talented and athletic to choose loyalty to their program even if their program doesn't choose it to them. Really makes me think both those guys are gonna overachieve here.
  7. That is 100% true. Though he struggled blocking guys who crossed his face or played nose last year. Did hodge get a single pick in his mock draft right, out side of us drafting the 3 fbs of course. He was the ultimate FIFO guy, First in first out, LOL. Smith is an ideal fit. Kr, RB, but also played multiple WR spots, ran Jet motion, the whole package. He could back up multiple positions and be a super sub. He's a lot like grant in that he is compact (though a good bit heavier,) strong, tough, and an aggressive north south runner. He's got a full kit of cuts, with the full spectrum of speed no gears lacking. He does a great job of using his small stature to his advantage as well hitting through the smallest holes for big gains. I feel like out side of grant we have made strange strange choices at KR, but smith sure should be a front runner. Probably the fastest guy on the field in camp too. Gotta love that every one is wearing the guardian helmet, but in the first clip two guys run facemask first into each other.
  8. Yep, I also think that the ability to roll out MCI, and clercius amongst other good blockers will help allow us to transition away from carrying the extra OL. Fox is another head scratcher from last year. One of my biggest roster worries right now is that we are again going to try to have Thomas play the most reps of any DT. Lawson and Fox should be penciled in as DT starters right now.
  9. Either way we've dodged a bullet. I feel like guys who are healthy cuts in the first wave of camp never come back, especially imps.
  10. They wish they were the TC legend that was duane slays! lol. Imagine the jersey potential though. Oh, the all time best name team from TC would be soo entertaining.
  11. Agree and Kevens is replacing bolo. With all 3 we just have a bit more NI depth and better roster balance.
  12. And usually guys who end on our PR and come back the next TC get more time. I'm just saying in general, more time to evaluate might be good. Rookie camp isn't really a strong evaluation tool. Though like I also said, these guys might just be failing at a basic level that they'd be cut any way.
  13. Yep. One of the most amazing facets of our WR core, only one guy on the entire roster at WR is 30 years old. Demski is the oldest and still has plenty of time left. Best WR core and a young prime group too. It's really going to be interesting to see who wins the last spot and why.
  14. Little surprised about Waggoner. Brown was a kr and rb. We are thin at rb, but might just be the reality that no imp rb is gonna make it if they aren’t a full time kr. Alston was starting day one of tc which shows all you need to know about how important that is. Im guessing most of these guys failed fifo/adaptability to the league checks. I wonder if the league would be better off having the first cut after a week of practices.
  15. Looks like cuts include beeksma, Ronnie brown, ravi Alston, waggoner, Siegel and texada.
  16. Augustine did improve a lot on teams over last year as well. I cant see an out right cut of him. He might end up being a scratch some or end up on the pr.
  17. Especially with Kelly out, they have a huge leg up in the east division. Hamilton is still stuck with the corpse of blm, and ott is likely still a year away from being a year away.
  18. That is certainly a big factor as well. Not only is winnipeg sandwiching steinbach, multiple predominantly french towns are in different directions as well. I believe Loewen blvd overlaps upwards of 4 or 5 different RMs. Which is why it is such a mess as soon as you leave steinbach. Physical distance from the next major city will lead to a larger area, as well as diversity in the surrounding area it self. Morris is in this situation (though not being close to a city) because it falls pretty evenly between winkler/morden, steinbach, and winnipeg. The RM is over 1000km2, with a population that leaves it with less than 2 people per km2. As a fun fact, 25 countries in the world have a smaller km2 foot print than the RM of morris.
  19. haha! That would make a lot of sense. He might also be gunning for a HOF spot. I think every one else above 100 sacks in their career has made it in.
  20. Thats a good point. Has a player in any league beaten a gambling rap yet? Doesn't seem like it.
  21. Wonder if hes tryin to get some make the roster or show up to camp type bonus lol
  22. Kelly also has to complete a program before he returns, and lemon has appealed the suspension which freezes it out until the appeal process is completed.
  23. Population density isn't a pre requisite for being a city in any dictionary definition or civil engineering standard. Density is only used to separate for economic survey data. Federal, and provincial standards are what's applicable. Manitoba has some really interesting/odd outliers in terms of economic per capita zones, that are perfect examples of why the standard is used but only in statistical evaluation.
  24. Yeah, They've had one since 2009. They've had a bar at the edge of town since 76, literally as close to town physically as they can be while being in another RM, called the Edge lol.
  25. Don't know about what is usual, but I walked into the steinbach one a week and a half ago and didn't see any employees till I got to the till lol. Just googled it, thinking maybe this was some failure to follow protocol thing. But it looks like the ID to enter is just in winnipeg, done in response to those passive theft/raids that were happening a ways back. Doesn't seem like it's the case in rural MB.
