The cfl is the hardest league to make a mock draft in, some teams are going to take gambles on nfl guys while others aren’t and some ones gonna do some thing way off board in the first two rounds and you aren’t really sure till late who will actually be available. personally I expect the run in ol to happen early. Off set by the ncaa defensive players. I don’t expect to see many WRs or any FBs in the first two rounds. I suspect most of ssk, us, bc, ham and the stamps to go linemen.

Not in year one or two. But big athletic under skilled tes are pretty common each year down south. Cheerleaders are fb horny? Damn no wonder wade is always working. On a side note, I think we’ve got lbers that could fill the fb role as well. Id love a big running tweener rb/hback to free up a Canadian spot, but I don’t think any of the guys this year are that. A te/fb hybrid would be good over a wr, but not worth a high pick.

Theo will for sure. Tanner will get a decent look for a year maybe two. It’s possible that a coach will fall in love with his work ethic and intangibles alone. But he’s a pretty good investment for a mid draft pick or later. His chances of falling out after a year then two is pretty high. And his floor up here is pretty high as well. Geoff gray? Idr when the timing changes with respect to the nfls draft. But we did in that period of time take a few nfl risk guys. I don’t think any one other than hodge thinks we will or should go fb in the top half of the draft. If the right guy is available sure, but I don’t see that happening this year. Stranger things have happened down the road we could see a first round fb at some point. But I mean both tes and maybe both FBs probably better than kalinec was.

If we really wanted to go after some one that hard I’d go for a guy like tanner mclachlan. 6’5 245 te who put up good athletic numbers 4.61/35” vert/9’10 broad/ 1.58 10. He seems like a real fifo type too. Hard nosed, tough, good blocker does the little things. He might end up being a late pick if not he will be a priority fa but good probability to end up here if you take him. the other Canadian te Theo Johnson is gonna be a decent mid round pick down south. 6’6 260 4.58 40” 10.5’ broad all the eye popping numbers. Doesn’t have significant Production though or any of the intangibles of mclachlan.

I’d add de to the wil option. As for priority, it’d be ol then rotational dl/lber. Wr would depend on who is available, while we need a guy or two this could as well be one of the TEs or a lower number pick who fills the woli role. I don’t think we need to look for a home run ni wr, we have soo many guys on offence that need touches a high upside offensive guy wouldn’t develop much in the next two years. A big body versatile teams wr who can block, a ghetto woli prospect would be a strong pick up. We could fill the fb/teams/back up ni wr all with one body. That type of roster efficient ni would be huge for us. The perfect world guy would be able to run the ball and catch, playing h back plus. But that is likely too much to expect.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

lol people do that? Im kind of stunned that people actually go that far. Doesn’t seem like that many people have been banned from the out side. Maybe it’s just the perspective. Though maybe it makes more sense if it’s one complete nut off the meds again. I probably don’t notice bannings because it doesn’t seem to happen frivolously and threads get cleaned up pretty quick when they do go south. Either way I appreciate all the work done by every one who keeps the wheels moving around here. -

Beepboopbop bot detected. That’s a pretty cool tool, but pretty messed up that some ones actually using ai to post. Wth would make a person want to do that? -
This isn’t the nfl. Few guys will be as big as him making the tackle, we don’t have any safety’s up here hitting like they do down there. The larger field especially with the hash change makes the running lanes way bigger.

Strevelers injury, a broken ankle, isn’t a wear and tear thing. It was a freak accident made worse by riders targeting it. Both streveler and buck need to evolve to the modern qb run packages. The cfl on the whole is lacking in this area. But I see no reason why he can’t put up a ton of rush yards while staying healthy and productive. Doesn’t hurt being bigger and stronger than half the guys on the field for defense.

I would love to see the cfl do in game advanced/specialized/charts/ngs stats in a few areas for the game of the week. Yards after contact, tackle depth, qb hurries/hits, player speeds, ball velocity, average separation, play/formation break downs charts, yards per target, tackle % etc. it would cost too much to get that going for every game (since we barely had stats at all half of last year). But I don’t think it would be too much to have one more stats guy and the equipment with tsn to do it once a week. It would certainly add to pre game, post game and half time segments.

2023/2024 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season News

CFL is crazy. We also draft 30 year old globals. We draft guys as Canadians who’ve never been here. Is what it is. More talent to ni positions the better. -
It can be, or it can not be. Hefney for instance wasn’t a S, but put up a lot of tackles while being one of the very best dbs in the league. You can’t evaluate tackles in a vacuum. I broke down in depth the difference between awes tackles and biggies tackles last year. Awe put up more tackles head to head, but was making tackles on average almost 10 yards from the line. Where as biggies average depth was under 4. Or like maruo leading us in teams tackles then getting benched for the year. Tackles are the worst individual stat in football and maybe all of sports. 6’3 180 guy productive in his one year at wku. Also scored a td on a hand full of punt returns. It’s not easy to walk into a new team as a wr and be that productive.

Don’t need to be flawless, but we need to greatly limit the hard hits, and extend the pocket. He can take a hit still, he just needs to not have the pocket pushed onto his lap and get hit as he is throwing on a regular basis.

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/josh-johnson-tulsa-wr-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2022/ interesting mixed review. Looks like he has tons of talent and potential. Also looks like a gamer. Top 10 pr player is an interesting accolade. Some guys tear it up in practice and camp. David kircus a wr with the lions was that guy for like 3-4 years. Looked like a world beater in practice. Didn’t get a ton of shots when he did was ok. Certainly fits the flashy talent. Lacking size and athleticism isn’t easy. He’s a lot like McKnight but also the exact opposite talents while also being a poor testing small guy. Could really blow up in rookie camp.

Even for guys you’ve seen every single snap of, or that top level scouts have, there is a good 80% crap shoot on rookies. Some guys can do stuff and show it at other levels, in other leagues, or even other cfl teams and not replicate that success after a team change. A great example is the scout who suggested drafting Albert pujols in baseball. Late pick super low opinion of him pujols got him run through the wringer for those opinions despite him getting drafted. And he had a hof career. Some times it’s competition level, athleticism, work ethic/preparedness, or desire or a bunch of other things. A guy I was super sold on was Fred Otis amey a sac state wr. Saw soo many of his games and games in the conference. But he just didn’t get it done. All you can do is look at what a guy can do at the level/team/league they left and project how they would fare if they can execute here. Some times they will, some times they won’t, and some times a guy drastically over achieves and makes it look easy like schoen. Every one who watched any of schoen from games to highlights was excited about him coming into camp. No one thought he’d instantly own the league. Barrett last year looked like a blue chip lber prospect came in and looked totally lost in pre season.

No right or wrong move really. Either you go young or you try to see if we can win a gc this year or next. Personally, strevy plus brown would be the best case scenario for going younger. I’m a believer in brown. But making that decision and possibly not making a gc because you went young at qb is a hard hard pill to swallow. I get why the mafia went this direction. And having stevy is a great option for now and the future. We’ve hedged our bets really well. Trying to sell season ticket and a gc next year with out Zach would be real hard.
