Castillo is for sure a good punter. It’s only worth carrying an extra guy if he is an extemely good punter and kick off guy. And even then, kick off depth could be trivialized this year. Love to see more Karamoko. Hope we draft more actual players this year too. Omf I knew we were gonna sign that dumpster fire. Damn it. That guys the worst imp T I’ve seen up here in years. Should we bring mourtada back? Bad experience isn’t an asset imo
-
Bishop had worlds more arm strength than any of those guys.
-
If we can have one guy doing all 3 kicking jobs, dress 6 ol, not wasting a di on the marine, and proper use of the fake ni we could gain a TON of active roster depth. No more hallet as the only back up db, or no back up WRs other than grant etc. we could carry an imp sts guy who is actually good on kick cover even
-
Bishop had an 11 out of 10 arm though. Every one in the league today has less arm then him.

Yep. Habba only played 1 game with jj. I get that it’s just a podcast, and I don’t follow any podcasts. But damn it takes next to no effort to be factual in this. I love jj, but he’s dependant on others more than the reverse. We need one guy to just go after the qb on a fast aggressive line. That can be any one almost. He’s a guy who gets pressure, but has always struggled to finish. Tbh he and wj are similar in the struggle to finish out sacks. If we had a guy like mauldin you’d see wj on a whole new level. Jj went a full month of games with out a single sack each of the last two years. Both in the middle of the season. He’s a beast when he’s healthy, but combine his running cold on actually getting the qb with missing 1/3 - 1/2 the season every year and it’s just not sustainable. the last two years 7 of jj 12 sacks have come against ssk and bc in 6 of his 26 games. With another 2 in 2 games vs edm. That means he had 3 sacks in 18 games against the rest of the league, while bc and ssk had the worst pass pro in the league over the last 2 years. His other sacks came 2 vs mtl in 2 games and 1 vs ott in 1 other. Doesn’t he post on here?
-
I mean maybe there is some confusion but that’s just not right. Habba had 4 sacks while jeffcoat was out last year playing in his place and wj was playing better before jj came back. 2023 jj missed weeks 1-3 and 5. In weeks 1 and 5 wj had 4 sacks. In weeks 1-3 haba had 1 sack in each game. His 4th came in week 15, which jj missed. That’s 7 sacks with out jj in 4 games for our ends.

All blocks are not the same. Being a 200 lbs wr and getting in the way of a db on a run or pass is reasonable to expect. You can’t expect an ol to never get beat. For a fb like Jackson, when you’re 260lbs you should stone wall any db or wil most every time. Picking up a blitz or blocking a dl one on one you can’t expect them to replace an ol easily. Jackson in the run game was mostly blocking down on smaller guys. He was coming in specifically for that role so the expectation should be high. He didn’t out perform what any ni lber or fb on our roster the last two years would’ve done.

Interchangeable with corny imo. Not likely to be more than a qb2 but some chance with great coaching and a good offence of maybe taking a step.
-
Both right and wrong imo. He was sub par for a fb / teams specialist no matter the passport. Taking a di spot only made it soo much worse. If he had become a strong kick cover guy and been a mike sellers blocking it’s a different story. Yep Wilson and barriere. I’d be stunned if we didn’t break camp with Eric Barriere as qb3/pr. He smashed Nichols and blms records at eastern Washington a powerhouse developmental pipe line for the cfl. He had a bunch of nfl looks and interest. Blue chip passing prospect. Terry Wilson is no slouch either. 4 star recruit headed for Nebraska who flipped to Oregon. Red shirted then Oregon fired coach frost and the team wanted to go in a different direction. Went to juco then to Kentucky then COVID hit and ended in New Mexico. More raw version of stevy. Strong dual threat qb with great tools. We also have a qb who converted to wr for nfl looks iirc but had a great career too dont know if he’s planned for wr or qb. If not we might bring in one more camp arm but with the Canadian we will get from cis they might not be needed.

Yeah, I think we will continue to find guys who wont miss a beat in the secondary. If BA is fully healthy and the system more tailored to his talents, plus a more seasoned Ford and Holm back we could improve a decent bit. Agree. I think mostly we will see the same Lbing core, but with more cole snaps. Wj certainly needs another pass rusher to take weight off his shoulders. Hes best if that comes from the nose, but also if we keep a fresh end. Rotating more, getting back to a nose, and more of the better useage schemes weve seen in the past are a bigger impact than who we start imo. Ol should be fun to watch in run pro, I think pass pro will take a bit of time to gel but be good. The wrs wont miss a beat either. Draft is gonna be big, but I'm not expecting an immediate impact on our game day roster. Maybe some teams or rotational impact. Unless we see a great turn key guy in the supplemental draft and get them. Global draft will be key too. This sums up how I feel about houston too. Great guy, the story about his kid getting hit in a drive by while in bed was heart breaking. I'm happy for him as a person to get paid. I'm happier hes gone, he isn't the player or talent we need.
-
At some point fans in regina are gonna get sick of him. I just don't know how much more it will take. His moves have mostly been face palm. Jeremy Oy'vey or Ov'rpay
-
I think we will see significantly less cover 0, a lot more mixed zones, split field zone, more blitzes with a particular design as well. I hope, we will see better front useage like we had previously from hall not being a full time co, less feeding biggie to an OL to limit double teams, and of course more reasonable cushion in coverage. We get lost playing damn near prevent D in strange parts of games and just give away full length of the field drives.

A bit of a positional need break down post free agency since it seems we will only add min contract vets from what walters was saying. Starting DBs, Ford/kramdi Nichols BA Holm Parker. That leaves 1 full time spot for sure open, and parker will likely have to win a spot as well. Starting OL Bryant, Neufeld, Kolo/Eli, Dobson. That leaves one spot open, and likely our 6th OL will be the back up C. Wrs Lawler, Woli, demski, Schoen. Which leaves 1 imp starting spot, and a back up NI wr spot (Likely Murphy.) DL WJ Thomas/lawson Fox Haba/Garbutt. Likely Fox will have to win a spot in camp, as well as the 2nd DE. So we will likely see 1 full rookie imp starting on the OL, plus one back up moving up to starter. At WR we will certainly end up starting a 2nd full imp rookie, DL also has a very high probability of seeing a full rookie imp starter. In the secondary I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 rookie starters, 1 is for sure. So we will probably have 4-5 rookie starters. We also might be looking at a rookie kicker, (hope castillo re signs) possibly a rookie KR, and a mostly new Sts / cover team. Strevy, while familiar with buck will also be adapting to bucks offence, though I think that will be a great benefit by time the season starts. JY as a rookie Dco isn't much of a concern to me with Hall staying on. Davie ritchie used to say you lost 1 game per rookie starter you had. I think that is more true for mediocre teams or rebuilding teams. For an established team with a strong locker room like ours I don't think it will be soo rough. I also think we will become far more dynamic and by mid to late season have developed far better depth than we had last year. How do you grade this off season/FA for the bombers? Strevy back is a huge win, especially on such a team friendly deal. That and keeping both schoen/brady for less combined than any one wouldve thought is another A+. A couple of the subtractions to the roster are also a big win. It sucks not getting any league vets to come in for starter spots, but our scout team is dynamite. Id say this off season is a B+/A-. We are gonna get some more blue chip prospects at several positions and I don't think we will miss a beat on offence. If we manage to get those blue chippers in the places of need and they show up to camp, I think it'll be a solid A off season at worst. We've never struggled to find rookie talent on D either. Or win with rookies on D for that matter. in 19 pundits doubted our secondary league wide. But the 2 rookies who started on the same side of the field as each other have turned into a regular NFL starter quality player, and a guy whose among the very best covermen in the league.
-
Quick, some one find us a military vet with no football talent what so ever! A canadian might be nice this time though... How hilarious would it be if some one picks jackson up now? Look at you Oday. This is going to be a real interesting TC. Lots of starting spots up and some key rep opportunities. A lot of addition by subtraction this off season.

Seems like their whole dl hit free agency and now are trying to fill 2 rosters worth of dl.
-
He’s a guard who has played tackle. He got turnstiled just as much as any one with speed off the edge. He has no chance of surviving out there on a regular basis.
-
With the continuity lost and other teams improving I wouldn’t be surprised if we win Less games this year. But I think we will be a better more talented and athletic team, and a lot more dynamic after new guys are just the guys. We will find talent.
-
If he starts at wil out of camp he’s going to be the talk of the league. He plays on more of an edge than most of our front guys for the past while, is soo explosive and has a great instinct. Love watching him play.
-
I think it’s in part becuse he was passed by Cole. Clements is bigger for sure, but his tangibles are pretty common for an imp. Probably confided in their ability to find higher potential guys.
-
Clip it and pin it on a billboard. I believe hardrick moves to guard by bjb if he still playing then it isn’t at tackle. The guy is a beast. His physical talent is extremely rare to find in an ni. He’s been losing weight as well and getting faster. You can really see the traction he made late season. You want shorter guards. Being taller inside is harder and actually pretty rare. Both made a start.
-
Guard is a funny position. It’s way more about grit, nastiness, and low to the ground leverage than the finesse required at T C. I’ll also add that I think it was the side by side combo of gray and kola that was bad. Previously gray next to other centres was a much better guard. You can have 1 guy on the line you cover for. Can’t have two. Damn sure can’t have them side by side. Couture made a lot of guys alot better.
-
Imo gray is just not cut out to be a guard. It’s odd, but it does happen. Yoshi was the same way. He was much worse at guard before he became entrenched at rt here.
-
Neither does Hamilton lol. Dudes gonna be pushing against that wall till the cows come home. did I miss it, is gray signed else where? Every one is talking like he’s gone. Personally I think if he’s playing football next year it’ll be here. If he’s back I think he’d have an inside track at RT. Which as some one said previously being next to neuf will be an asset. A lot can be said about him, in far from his biggest fan, but you aren’t gonna swim in side the rt and split neuf and any one. Plus he can make the adjustments and help the tackle assignment/pick up wise. I’m still hoping we see Eli, Dobson and gray all win spots out of camp. That said if it’s an imp Tackle and gray / kola as 6th man that’s pretty good too. I think it’s a good time for change on the ol. We have the young guys with upside who have as much seasoning as you can get with out starting every game. We have the picks and a draft to restock the cupboard. We struggled in pass pro last year, especially with speed rushes. And we struggled with some guys getting down field with the ball instead of pile cruising after yards are gained.
-
Hell yeah. That’s ideal imo. Kramdi can be a package guy, and general back up, ford the starter. Lets us flex soo many different ways. The two high look can be done with Kramdi now instead of a hallett. Which lets us do more with split field zone, or use a small package to run gap cancel, or blitz from small packages. Like we could go cheetah front, with all import dl, take the wil off, put in an extra saftey, and be able to defend any thing short of a heavy package. We could send one guy with the dl and instead of biggie getting eaten up by an ol we could send a db off the edge while the ol struggles to block 4 guys pass rushing in the front. The upside with Kramdi kind of reminds me of singletary/the ss’s of the 46 bears era. there to make plays and like you said disrupt, forcing the offense not to go deep. Create pressure inside the tackle box and back field. Limit the offences ability to stretch sideline to sideline. The best Sam’s these days are generally bigger and play like that.
