  1. Man the old ball coach. Loved him soo much. Such a great coach and interesting character.
  2. Yes and no. Run fits in the cfl frequently involve the s/2 dbs now. It is possible to have a S create a ton of positive defensive plays by getting tackles. It is easy for bad dbs to rack up tackles though. plus minus as well for sure.
  3. CFL is crazy. We also draft 30 year old globals. We draft guys as Canadians who’ve never been here. Is what it is. More talent to ni positions the better.
  4. It can be, or it can not be. Hefney for instance wasn’t a S, but put up a lot of tackles while being one of the very best dbs in the league. You can’t evaluate tackles in a vacuum. I broke down in depth the difference between awes tackles and biggies tackles last year. Awe put up more tackles head to head, but was making tackles on average almost 10 yards from the line. Where as biggies average depth was under 4. Or like maruo leading us in teams tackles then getting benched for the year. Tackles are the worst individual stat in football and maybe all of sports. 6’3 180 guy productive in his one year at wku. Also scored a td on a hand full of punt returns. It’s not easy to walk into a new team as a wr and be that productive.
  5. Don’t need to be flawless, but we need to greatly limit the hard hits, and extend the pocket. He can take a hit still, he just needs to not have the pocket pushed onto his lap and get hit as he is throwing on a regular basis.
  6. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/josh-johnson-tulsa-wr-nfl-draft-scouting-report-2022/ interesting mixed review. Looks like he has tons of talent and potential. Also looks like a gamer. Top 10 pr player is an interesting accolade. Some guys tear it up in practice and camp. David kircus a wr with the lions was that guy for like 3-4 years. Looked like a world beater in practice. Didn’t get a ton of shots when he did was ok. Certainly fits the flashy talent. Lacking size and athleticism isn’t easy. He’s a lot like McKnight but also the exact opposite talents while also being a poor testing small guy. Could really blow up in rookie camp.
  7. Even for guys you’ve seen every single snap of, or that top level scouts have, there is a good 80% crap shoot on rookies. Some guys can do stuff and show it at other levels, in other leagues, or even other cfl teams and not replicate that success after a team change. A great example is the scout who suggested drafting Albert pujols in baseball. Late pick super low opinion of him pujols got him run through the wringer for those opinions despite him getting drafted. And he had a hof career. Some times it’s competition level, athleticism, work ethic/preparedness, or desire or a bunch of other things. A guy I was super sold on was Fred Otis amey a sac state wr. Saw soo many of his games and games in the conference. But he just didn’t get it done. All you can do is look at what a guy can do at the level/team/league they left and project how they would fare if they can execute here. Some times they will, some times they won’t, and some times a guy drastically over achieves and makes it look easy like schoen. Every one who watched any of schoen from games to highlights was excited about him coming into camp. No one thought he’d instantly own the league. Barrett last year looked like a blue chip lber prospect came in and looked totally lost in pre season.
  8. No right or wrong move really. Either you go young or you try to see if we can win a gc this year or next. Personally, strevy plus brown would be the best case scenario for going younger. I’m a believer in brown. But making that decision and possibly not making a gc because you went young at qb is a hard hard pill to swallow. I get why the mafia went this direction. And having stevy is a great option for now and the future. We’ve hedged our bets really well. Trying to sell season ticket and a gc next year with out Zach would be real hard.
  9. Yep. Might even be more than that with camp invites.
  10. They do, when the locker room has just the right amount of flooding.
  11. Cleveland browns are the most successful franchise in modern sports history. Along with the maple leafs.
  12. Tackles doesn’t mean much. Maruo was leading us in sts tackles couple years ago and got benched. Kick cover is one role in teams which has a lot of different sets and roles. Wes lysack was leading the league in tackles here in his last season. We cut him mid season. Tackles are not a success indicator. Not on teams not on D. They are pointed at because they are strong teams players. Exume was good here last year after we picked him up and we improved with him here but he didn’t stack up tackles. The Hallets are good soldiers good players. They aren’t great or the best at any thing. All depends on who gets nfl deals, camp invites etc. still guys declaring for the draft too.
  13. That’s true. I suspect this is the new normal. Which sucks. Imo we need a developmental system for Canadian kids. The gap between rookie imps and nis has never been bigger.
  14. Ford is raw as a teams guy mostly returning kicks in college and won’t out do exume who got drafted based on teams ability alone and has been doing it at a high level for 4 seasons. Hallett wasn’t our best teams guy at any point in his time here. Clements cut his teeth in this league as a strong teams guy. We spent the last 3 drafts picking teams guys with little to show for it.
  15. Could be a chance to draft rotational players with upside in the front 6 in the cis and global draft this year. If we come out of those any thing close to 16/19 we will be in great shape. If it’s like our last couple drafts we are gonna be scrounging for ni talent. How bout that 19 draft in retrospect though. Desjarlais, kongbo, Brady, Eli, Hallett, and exume. Great draft in general, couple misses but you’d be hard pressed to do better even with hindsight.
  16. To be fair we did some funky stuff with kick cover scheme last year. I think that’ll change and our cover team will look much better. Especially if we keep the right cover guys on the roster. Yep. Also a big problem is we have hardly any back ups with upside. Thomas is passed it, but most of those guys are bottom 5 nis on the roster. Guys who can play teams and packages but are serious liabilities doing more. Save for Dobson, and Kramdi/ford we could improve on every single one of those back ups. We will start 1 ni db again I’m sure. Should be ford. Also likely that we will keep Eli at C, and start Dobson. Dobson as a back up plays guard. Eli can back up c and g. Hopefully Eli takes kolas job and kola is the back up c/g. in which case I’d hope for a young ol with upside who can replace kola but that isn’t likely this year. Also *lawson and *Kramdi. We lack candidates for next man up. If Brady or Demski go down we are screwed. Also if Bryant wj, or ba, go down we are screwed. This year needs to see us go younger and develop a new wave of impact players. Up for targeted guys or down for established league guys I’m hoping we do some thing.
  17. I like both those guys. I don’t think either has ratio breaking starter potential. agree 100%. It’s early, a lot can change still. But I think our floor, with good health, is an 11 win team. If we hit a schoen Esq impact rookie on D I think it’s a 13 win team.
  18. 6’2 240 strong athlete good gap filling tackle box lber.
  19. I don’t think any ol we pick this year will be able to make an impact and be available to roster this year. It’s likely the new norm that you get ol who are a year away from being available or two years away from being good.
  20. Thats true, but you also can’t rate mos alone on our current success either. He was on the hot seat before the gc run. If we didn’t end up with collaros and winning the 19 cup, do you think he’d a kept his job? Would he lose it after another year? The hard thing with rating mos is he actually did more to make us win when we were worse. End had the same flaws, but his contribution to our teams coaching and play calling, and on D too. They did, because they hated losing. The defence expected to carry us to wins then. Even though especially in 21 our offence could as well. Faith didn’t get more than that. Bennett was better than faith but still pretty lame. Honestly hurts nothing to bring him to camp. Aren’t likely at this point to add more than one ni de either. It was a laughable claim. Makes some of this seem border line trollish tbh. I’d say we are average ish in terms of top end and depth. But mainly because we’ve previously hoarded ni ol and that’s the most valuable position to have them at. But the guys we have are old. I’d bet our average roster ni age is the highest in the league
  21. Last two years this team should’ve handily won the gc. Underachieving the main goal with the best team isn’t an achievement. Take the best roster and team and finish with a great record that’s kind of expected. Marty Schottenheimer is a great example of a nfl coach who was considered great, but underachieved when it counted most. He got the rap of a guy who could turn a team around and could take you to a big game but not win it. Mos isn’t a Marty. But he’s also not a bill Walsh. At the end of the day, his teams don’t hate losing enough. Culture is more important to him than winning.
  22. Thing is our Canadian depth has been on the weak side the last two years save for back up ol. Do you think the 3ni safety’s are better than import dbs like Parker? Do you think Bennett and Schmekel are better than Habba or fox? Our back up candians aren’t better players than our back up imp players. Nis are well behind the imps position by position league wide. People just don’t get it. They watched rotations with high quality guys propel us to grey cups and still can’t see the Forrest from the trees. We’ve also seen countless times useless guys like hurl, kuale, up to Jackson rostered and even started. People talked bad about pigrome thinking he wouldn’t get picked up or how he’s not worth it now. But the same people don’t recognize that the mos guys that start or kr seldom if ever get picked up when we let them go. We start guys then let them go in the off season and no one wants them as back ups. mos is the best player manager, culture guy, and leader in the league. He’s also the worst at setting up a roster.
  23. It’s hard to tell if the last 4 ish drafts have just been weak or if this is just the norm now. The nfl vacuum is at an all time high. Feeding the larger and more expensive tcs and prs.
  24. 3rd and 1 sneak is on the ol. This concept that it’s lame difficult high value role is insane. Even when poopkup was running upright it was fine. That’s a great point. 3dn is very good at gathering fa and contract info. They do have a place and value. For me, the value when we heard actual football stuff was much higher. But they still do fill a gap that wouldn’t get covered other wise. I wish we had a football oriented site, and that we didn’t get some of the
