  1. Pretty sure that was the expectation, that he would not be ready for tc and likely starts on the 6.
  2. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/antonio-garcia/32004741-5205-4848-e617-bf53283cf166 Garcia is an interesting pick. 31 year old former 3rd round nfl pick. Had starter at LT potential, but was a guy who played light in the 270s and low 280 range. Weight was his biggest issue in the nfl. Got blood clots his rookie year and missed a bunch of time which lead to him dropping 40 lbs. after his return being too light the pats cut him. Kicked around a bit made the colts pr but was suspended for 4 games for peds. Sat the year but again didn’t play. Looks like he only played one game up here between the elk and riders.
  3. already had a year in the nfl and here before last year. Time adds up fast for guys going back n forth. Plus our system. Unless a team is playing fangio 6 a lot, (Vic fangio doesn’t even use it as base) he probably isn’t a fit as a cb. Very niche play style. Big calling card for us is he’s an elite athlete as a Canadian. For an imp db he’s above average to very good but not a crazy athlete by nfl standards. 27 and he’s not had a ton of experience. That said, he’s a guy I’d take a shot on. The flashes of dominance in making plays on the ball is really hard to come by. Leaves me torn on what to hope for tbh. I want him back. I don’t want to see us pay him some 200k deal. If he wasn’t a db he would be a 200k player as an ni in the cfl.
  4. Avg per return isn’t a good metric for returners team to team. Too many attached variables. Lucky was fairly average in the league but realistically bottom tier. Edmonton had multiple back field carry guys, and most teams don’t carry and run the sweep package.
  5. I think so too. Hope they both come back on reasonable deals.
  6. I’m surprised. When’s the last time we made a fa add like this or one before free agency? I don’t think we’d be after fa WRs, aside from bringing back lawler we haven’t done it in a while. Love love love this move. Fill the need for a dynamic kr and a great wr to replace Wilson. Pure upgrade imo. I would love to see lawler and schoen back as well. But if this ends up being a replacement for one that is understandable. Honestly I do agree. Finding the right guy to fit our vets and staff is big. As long as it’s done before the tampering period.
  7. Yep same. And that he could be more than an all star db, he could be a dynamic game changer as a ball hawk. Db is certainly one of the more replaceable spots in general but even more so for us. It’s a tough spot for Walters n co.
  8. Yep, we are staying a 30 base.
  9. He played all of 23. He missed one year, and that’s because he took a year to run his start up. He was a lot better than ok, he’s the Best Canadian run Stop and contain end in the league. Hes also excellent on teams, and can rotate at multiple positions playing starters reps. Hes in his prime about to turn 29 with relatively low miles and injury concerns the past few years. Yeah agree. My biggest concern with losing ford, aside from his upside is the ratio. We are just re building the ni depth and losing a starting ni would be hard. Probably trigger us to flip ratio at another spot and make our self much worse
  10. Imo 125k max for holm. Pickett was 170, the next top tier was 140-50k. Even that is a push for holm for me. I’d prefer to let him walk unless under 120k. I’d want ford for 150-160k. Might go up to 170k for more than a year. That’s highest paid db range. Cus he’s young and Canadian with tons more upside still. I could see some one giving him 200k though. Maybe even more.
  11. And hope he plays with a motor like he did in the grey cup. His signing this early tells me we probably still gave him elite de money. Wish it would be a more team friendly deal. But if he brings an elite motor elite pay would be ok.
  12. I would guess about 0.000000000001% Kongbo returns to the cfl, but to Edmonton. Wish it would’ve been here. https://3downnation.com/2025/01/12/edmonton-elks-sign-refocused-canadian-dl-jonathan-kongbo/
  13. I don’t want to lose those guys, that’s just who I think will have the greatest draw in free agency. And I think we will struggle to give them heavy raises. The chances we bring both back is slim imo. That’d be the most expensive secondary in the league with what we pay Kramdi, plus the vets. It will be interesting to see how our scouting changes. You can see the difference post ringmaiden leaving. Especially on the lines and at lber. I do think that db is a very deep position, and we have a great system for the right guys to succeed in. Plus tremendous coaching. I think fit in our system and growth mind set are the biggest factors in our db prospects. We don’t need to find stars like Hefney, we need guys who fit and can come up to make plays on the ball/carrier. With bonds, griffin, nichols and Kramdi we are in a strong spot, at worst needing to replace 1 starter and the dime/nickle. Then With ba/kelly/cole for we have lots of flexibility and not a great need at S. We also have bridges and the lotto ticket that is Parker as experienced guys who can step up and push younger guys in camp. Rogers and dandy are also guys who have one camp under their belt and some pr time. Considering our modp in ford is a fa, and could be nfl bound or get a massive pay day, and holm our multi year step up guy also a fa it’s as good a position as we can hope to be in. Best case scenario imo, ford comes back and Cole wins the job at S. Griffin takes a starting hb role, then one of Parker bridges dandy rogers and the new rookies steps up for the nickle and one for the dime. Thanks. That’s actually really strong value. Very team friendly deal. I feel like his fa market would be over 200.
  14. 390 for both years right? No way they gave him 130k a year more than drew desjarlais got from the rbs right? (160k higher than the next highest imp ol) That’s either a great deal or the biggest positional albatross deal that isn’t a qb. I believe it. He’s either coming back cheap or getting over paid imo. Teams don’t usually over value dbs especially ones that play like him. (Not physical, not a ball hawk, not a shut down corner, not an elite box and cover Sam/s) what ever you think of his level of play aside, he’s the easiest type of db to replace and the least desirable style.
  15. I think that’ll be the case. Plus with soo much front office turnover, I think we see things run a bit differently now. Hes sub lawler/schoen but close to the top tier of WRs. That said I think that’s pretty much top dollar for WRs now. I don’t think any one is handing out 285-300k for WRs any time soon. Lawler already came back for less, he’s about to turn 31, hasn’t played 18 games in one season ever, and only eclipsed 1k yards once (by 13 yards). Hes done a lot in limited time, and on any given game day you’d be hard pressed to have a better guy to throw to up here. But I don’t see teams risking big dollars on him now. I think he remains a bomber for a bit over 200k. Schoen the question of when he will be ready and how close to 100 he will be is big. Buck would be the biggest threat to scoop either imo, but they already have a wr to lock up and lots of money spent. I think the guys that’ll be hard to retain are Dobson, ford, holm and I could see teams trying to drive up the market on Lofton to hurt our cap space.
  16. https://3downnation.com/2025/01/11/cfl-wont-hold-neutral-site-touchdown-series-game-in-2025-report/ No td Atlantic type game this year. Which is fine by me. We don’t have a viable market for a 10th team in Atlantic Canada or an owner.
  17. For sure excited to see what the fresh blood brings into camp this year.
  18. Plus Lofton who left and came back. Mcgloster who went to I think tor. And Broxton in bc. We had been churning out ol at all positions for a long while. Both ni and imp. Teams have been getting fat off our ex ol for years. Bc might well start 3 ex bombers again this year.
  19. Honestly they used to for us as well. Last year we didn’t do a good enough job of bringing in actual tackles. Too many converted guard projects when we broke camp. I am a big fan of Randolph and what he can become as a tackle. I like vanterpool, but I don’t think he ends up a tackle. He’d be an excellent guard if you want to flip ratio. We signed Chris walker who is a long term project at LT. I like him as a prospect, I think he’s a full year on the pr away though. I actually think Wallace could be developed into a RT as well. Especially is he leans out a bit more. I hope we see a lot more talent at tackle this camp.
  20. WOW. Toronto out here swinging. Looks to me like they are hoarding ni talent, saving bucks and expecting to be able to just churn out new imp talent with ease. Ballsy moves this year for them. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. Qft
  21. Oc is for sure a big deal for us. We have to get that person in place before the legal tampering period imo. Really, asap would be great. Who ever it is they are going to be installing a whole new offence (albeit with some hold overs from previous years.) and they will need to put in a lot of work with zach, and marty. For my money, Sunderland is among the best guys in the league at scouting front 6 players.
  22. Correct. He's done a bit of every thing else with them as well. "Jauch joins the Blue Bombers after spending the last three years with the B.C. Lions as their Director of U.S. Scouting. Jauch is the son of former Blue Bombers player and head coach Ray Jauch (1978-82 as head coach) and played five years in the CFL with Calgary (1989), Edmonton (1990-91) and Hamilton (1992-93) where he also played with his brother Joey. After his playing days Jauch became a college scout with the San Diego Chargers in 1994, joining the Cleveland Browns in 2006, where he was then promoted to Associate Director of College and Pro Scouting, a position he held until 2010. Jauch returned to the Chargers and worked with them from 2010-14 before joining the New York Jets as a National Scout until 2018. He then returned to Canada to become the Director of Pro Scouting with the Toronto Argonauts before heading to B.C." Yep. In the end they did an excellent job for having to end up filling the boots of both Ted and Cyril. And I'm very happy for both ted and cyril getting great steps up in their career. Cyril is going to be a GM in a couple years if he wants it. All guys with high level experience as well. Gives us great flexibility moving forward.
  23. Love that pick up. He had his hand in soo many different areas of the Als football ops pie over the years. I'm pretty surprised he is parting ways after having been there as a player and front office type since 07.
