  1. I don’t think so. We might have 5 backs in camp compared to 25 WRs. Half of the off season pick ups will likely be db or wr.
  2. That’s very true. Big changes abound this year but yeah I can’t see it. He loses a step it’s over for him and he’s up there in age already. I don’t think so either, though I do love the package and idea of what he offers. We’d need to find a rook young blood version of aml. And honestly likely a better version automatically. Credit where it’s due, he did put in good work and improve a lot on teams. Honestly with his build you could possibly keep him on the roster as a multi purpose ni and teams guy out side of rb. The bomber starters and none starters too I think the one guy maybe two on here.
  3. He’d be a good guy to split reps, like what Hamilton used to try to do. Go ni rb extra imp wr package. Or go imp rb or two back etc. home run hitter with an ni pass port. He’s not consistent, he can’t grind out yards, isn’t a capable catcher or blocker. If Augustine becomes the starter people will be off his bandwagon faaast. Just doesn’t work with our o.
  4. We seem to have a converted qb in camp every year. I think they love the flexibility but we haven’t of yet actually kept one. Currently we have 4 QBs on the roster not including burmeister. If we don’t sign strevy or another qb, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take reps at both qb and we in rookie camp and go from there. If we sign another guy I don’t think he will. Not sure but I believe he could either come back and play out his sophomore year or sign a new deal
  5. I’d say 4 is the min needed for camp to keep your no1 from over working.
  6. I think it was a very good question to ponder. It’s the exact situation we are in after all. That is certainly part of it. Because basically every rb at the minimum replacement level could be on an nfl roster. The nfl has known this and worked this way for a long while. At wr it’s harder to find that nfl roster quality player. Brady is 1000% a fifo guy. He’s a great player, person and team mate I have no question. If he played the rest of his career here I’d be happy. If he goes some place else I’ll cheer for him. End of the day I don’t have any emotional attachment to an individual player on this roster that is close to the attachment to the team and it being good. There is no guy I wouldn’t cut or trade to make the team better, if a better player was available. Though I do have it add, some times the team is more than the sum of its parts. If we replaced wj biggie yoshi and Bailey all with better players, we might well get worse due to shattering the locker room. That is a hard thing to gauge for the mafia who know the core intimately. Impossible for me or us on here to say where that line is.
  7. It’s all speculation based on talks of wanting to reset the market. Imo, 300k is the absolute max for a wr. And I don’t think we can succeed with 2 WRs at 300k. 200-250max hard money imo is the range. Any thing in that range I keep schoen. If he wants 250-300 I take a long hard look at him vs lawler. Perhaps sign schoen and trade lawler if the market exists for him. going double rookie rb could have a cap hit in the 160k ish range, vs likely 300-350k for Brady and Augustine. That money could buy us an elite dl in free agency.
  8. Every one loves Brady. A guy can become too big for the team though. I wouldn’t sign Myles Garett or bosa for 5 million dollars a year. Wouldn’t make sense. Even a million a year would leave a team un able to compete. Prime Derrick Henry or any other top tier nfl rb, wouldn’t give him 500k. If two players combine for a mil against this cap you’re pretty much doomed in the cfl. Brady might get crazy money from some one. We lost out on drew desjarlais to ott for 260k a year. Which is crazy money for a guard especially. Desjarlais, is a better ol than Brady is a rb. Both are great, but drew has legit 7-8 years of elite level play left in him. Rookie RBs don’t have that. I can’t see us giving Brady more than like 225k. And I could see a desperate team going crazy. Kadeem Carey went into last year on 145k hard max salary. At that point he was the best back in rb league. Kevin brown made 121k last year in hard max money. Devonte Williams probably made 90k range and was 100 yards behind brown, in 3 less games played. How much is the passport worth? Gittens jr off his career year made 200k. Demski made 175k. If the pass port is worth 60k, Brady is worth 200-205 ish. But if some one offers him 250 range it just makes more sense to go rookie for Pennie’s on the dollar.
  9. Came here to comment on this. Freaking ooof 164k for kongbo this year. I’d love him back on a team friendly deal. Bet he gets moved one way or another this off season.
  10. Damn right they were. I don’t think any other cfl expansion team was given such a windfall. I don’t follow the nhl but it seems they did the same with Vegas. Other wise I don’t think any other na league has done that.
  11. And I’m equally sure Brady won’t be. Though I really have no idea what to expect for other teams offers to him.
  12. The depth of quality for ni WRs in the league has really exploded of late. We used to see one or two guys like cotoy or woli at a time. Now we see several. It might become the new norm to start 2-3 ni WRs at this rate. Things have come a long way from the days of the token Canadian pass catcher no one covers because he can’t out run any one. The thing that separates woli is jbr said, he’s basically an h back and a wr at the same time. Dude is a menace blocking out there. But he’s also an elite ni possession wr with tremendous physicality who isn’t a slug. He could start in this league with out the pass port.
  13. I’ll also add that the Ontario teams really seem to cycle ol between each other a lot. He could end up in ott or ham as well as ssk. But I’m sure ssk will offer the most money lol.
  14. Gray is a liability in pass pro who can play guard and edge in goal line set. He should be a tackle long term but needs polish. Woli resigns for 2 years. Nice to have Strevys room mate locked up.
  15. The east west game is about creating a showcase for guys who need the opportunity and haven’t gotten the visibility their talent deserves.
  16. https://3downnation.com/2024/01/19/east-west-shrine-bowl-will-not-invite-u-sports-prospect-for-first-time-since-1985/ Kinda sad news, the east west bowl is no longer inviting cis players. The writing was on the wall going down from 2 - 1 which was nonsensical enough.
  17. That’s interesting. I’d love to see some thing like that and maybe the same for globals on the roster in general beyond 1.
  18. I don’t think we bring in any vet ni ol from fa. Rookies for depth beyond what we keep. I’d actually take bladek over kola, the only guy with less mobility than kola is Thomas. That said, Dobson Eli and gray would be miles ahead of bladek. I respect kola for his effort and toughness, he over achieved a lot and was enabled by our ol and the sheer fact he was a centre. He’s the worst ol we’ve had in a long long time.
  19. Argos cut bladek ahead of free agency. Some one wake up the riders and their fan base time for them to get all hyped sign him to a big deal and anoint him the starter and cure all to their ol.
  20. I think a lot of people league wide forget that this Argos team started out building its resources especially ni talent by over paying to corner the market on lbers.
  21. 100%. The offence can evolve a lot in terms of useage for both them and Demski with route concepts and packages. The chiefs and dolphins do a great job of using guys like that.
  22. The difference between have one guy like lawler/schoen and having 2 is gigantic. Lawler and schoen both worked off each other really well last year. Lawler came in and played like his hair was on fire then teams shifted to him and schoen took over with all those tds and yards before getting hurt.
  23. True that’s a part of it as well. Maybe Ellingson? Clement’s? Idk. I wonder if with the rookie salary floor going up, we price into Bailey. If the difference between Bailey, and a rookie is like 15-20k or less I can’t see moving on from Bailey.
  24. No doubt. It’s kind of sad it took the league this long. If happily take him to camp on a league min deal.
  25. It already has been over. Largely due to only having bargain bin money in free agency, but we’ve lost far more in fa than we’ve gained every year since 21 maybe 19. Bc has taken more from us in that time than we’ve gotten out of league free agency.
