  1. I think he’d be effective as qb3. Short yardage guy, a package for him to run, maybe teach him to hold for kicks, back up punt/kick, maybe even throw him out on some teams. But to do that you’ve got to have qb1/2 sorted. At this point I’d get rid of old heavy balls if I was them. He’s pretty much the same limited use player. They have two qb3s and no 1/2.
  2. Certainly not skill or position wise. I mean athletically that smooth fast long tall runner. He really needs great great coaching and a lot of off season work for a couple years. But he doesn’t have the coach or seemingly the desire to work at it in the off season. That’s how Demski became great. That guy worked his ass off on wr skills and never lacks effort. Oh man, I wonder if they could be bribed into using him as Tcf.
  3. …for now… lol very happy to have Lawson back and for 2 as well. Good for Houston. I hope he gets on down south. I like the guy and his story and root for him. But man he is not what I want to see in our db play.
  4. Dude is just prepping to release his own brand of weed. Seriously though I like mace but Ryan’s gone full cte.
  5. Hard to say for me. I think mo was better than randle, though both extraordinary dbs. Mo was a star at the two hardest postions to play in the secondary and randle was the best in the league at the 3rd. Back then we desperately needed the D to carry us to wins. Record number of turn overs for a year two and I believe 3 year stretch. But even coverage has changed a lot since then. If Nichols played back then on that team I don’t think he’d be any less that’s for sure.
  6. He’s the Randle of the secondary. Doesn’t get as much credit as Randle did though. Both here and league wide.
  7. I think the thing for the nfl is the ol talent especially at T isn’t where they need it to be. You can get a beast pass rusher in the first 2-3 rounds reliably or a run stopper in one tech or another. You can spend late picks on super athletes who are raw. Because dl gets money and attention. The kids want to play dl instead of being an ol. The ol out of the top 2 rounds (draft year depending of course) aren’t nearly as good a prospect as the late 3rd and down pass rushers. And because ol just don’t get rotated it’s hard to be a specialist and succeed as an ol. Maybe as a beast run blocker on a heavy run team they’ll prop you up in pass pro but it’s not the same as a 50% of snaps de who just pins his ears back. I think that’s why we continue to see more Canadian ol prospects rise in value down south. Those kids have been ol their whole career, aren’t failed dl, and they are the best big athletes in the sport/market. Up here the outliers like gray are immediately looked at as ol. Down south hed as been a dl for sure.
  8. Blind side isn’t what it used to be in the nfl. Both tackle spots are pretty close in terms of importance now. Skill talent will always dominate, which is why when a trench guy is in the top 5 they are generally a lock.
  9. True, but if they continue to draft and develop well they can always take the next step. For Detroit winning their division is like winning the big one lol. He gone. And deservedly so. I couldn’t be happier for him too. not surprised he’s getting the tires kicked. I am surprised that Betts is getting the tires kicked though. He will soon be 29, and while hes a good pass rusher I can’t see him doing much in the nfl. perhaps this thread for 2024 should just be cflers/canadians down south. It’s basically cflers in the nfl any way.
  10. I kind of want this as a signature lol! Gauthier is older (31) but he played out of his mind in the gc. If he can maintain any kind of similar play level he’d be an all star next year. If we won he would’ve been a good candidate for mop/moc. Bolo, woli, Lawson and the back up ol boys are our nis on the rise. Probably right. Hopefully we will have ford back and can platoon those two to start a ni db.
  11. He puts him self in position to make a lot of plays. If he finishes better he could be an excellent starter.
  12. If you aren’t improving you’re getting worse. And collaros in the play offs is bad. He’d be what 37 by then? If we stick to Zach and the ol we have I can’t see us contending in 25.
  13. Great point. Over the last 4 years the lions have had 18 picks in the first 3 rounds. They’ve taken 1 qb 2 RBs 1 lber 4 dbs 1 te 6 DL and 2 ol 1 wr in that time, they’ve also hit guys out side of the top 3 rounds, they went from 8 combined wins the first two years to 19 and counting the last two.
  14. Agree. And idk if id hate the annoyance more or love that a Canadian kid had that Kind of success if that actually happen with old belichick. Farhan would be lobbying for over turning the mop awards and getting him a spot in the hall if that happened lol. who is worse, ball, Pederson, farhan or suitor? While I hate suitor when working rider or bomber games, I do respect his genuine passion. Pederson is probably the most decent thing Regina media has going on. Ball is a dumb ass with a small platform. Farhan is a dumb ass with a big platform. I think I like farhan the least.
  15. I wouldn’t be mad at it. Though I think it’d cost us too much talent wise to pay rourke what he’d expect. Then the nfl watch would be on every off season too. A month out from the gc (honestly feels like more) and I’m still firmly in the time to move on from collaros boat. Though I think the only viable option would be brown + strevy.
  16. I think the guys on that verge will be Augustine, Bailey, vet dbs, Thomas, and sadly woli. He just had a career year and is coming into his prime, but I don’t think woli plays till he’s old by wr standards. 6 seasons for him already, prett my crazy. Food for thought, I demskis 5th season of regular play he had 654 yards and 4 tds. Woli had 668 and 6tds. Demskis two best seasons in his first 6 are very comparable to wolis too. 654/772 with 10/6 vs 650/668 5/6. If woli doesn’t retire, over the next two years we likely have the best 1 2 punch of ni WRs in the league. Who also happen to be very versatile and blocking machines. but on topic, if we move on from Augustine for a rookie ni or imp, plus move on from 1 vet db or Bailey we easily keep Brady lawler and schoen. As much as I love Bailey, the majority of his touches going to woli, Demski, lawler, schoen, and Brady doesn’t make us any worse it probably makes us a little better. His blocking and leadership would suck to lose. But it’s hard to pay the 6th offensive option 100k and give em enough touches to be content.
  17. I think work outs for him will come after the nfl season. He just played 18 regular season games, 2 play off and 2 pre season games. 308 offensive touches in all those games. Dude needs recovery time. It’d be bad business for him and any nfl team to do a work out now.
  18. Tbh I don’t hate going wr at the top of the draft. Far less busts in top 5 WRs than QBs imo. Though I think the best value picks in the top 5 of the nfl draft tend to be defensive players. Teams always look for that one guy who will change their franchise with that pick, but it almost never works out. What bad teams really need most to turn it around is a bunch of picks in the first 3 rounds and to hit a lot of value with those picks. Harrison isn’t going to change a franchise, but I do think he will be a star. If you are in that top range though you need a lot. And QBs/wrs need you to have a lot to really shine. Trade down and draft ol/D all day. Just like up here with the bombers, line play wins games.
  19. You can make an active roster, not gonna start though. That can happen but you’re talking at best once a generation. A lot of former higher picks become career back ups but many don’t get much of sniff again they provide an illusion of qb depth. Isn’t Harrison staying in for a ridiculous nil deal or was that a rumour?
  20. For what we have on the roster inside right now, I’d agree. Now I think it’s possible we’d benefit from flipping hardrick and gray, but that’s an awful big risk. Gray is a fantastic guy as the 6th. Honestly most guys took turns being the worst. No easy one guy was the problem. Though kolo has never been a starter.
  21. For me, if I was in his shoes, I’d prize playing over any thing right now. Yes he’s young and he could kick around for untold years cashing millions in pr and the odd ar cheque. But, he has next to no chance at actually playing. Guys like flutie and Garcia went down with years of dominance. Not a partial year that ended in disappointment. I would legit play 2-3 years in the cfl if I was him then go south, but with a big guarantee and bonus. He’s in a rare situation where his window is soo big he can aim for more than clipboard and coffee boy. Look at strevy and mbt. Crazy amounts of pr time camp invites work outs etc. plenty of money made from the nfl. Never a shot at meaningful time as qb1. Rourke could spend the whole rest of his career down south. And not get a sniff of being no1. It’s very easy to fall into that good enough to be here not good enough to start position as a qb.
  22. He was certainly one of the biggest jones guys, though they’ve been a part since jones first left the riders. But he wasn’t a rival or hc candidate at that point.
  23. They always think that all premium fas will want to go to them lol. Shivers is a good get for edm. I wonder if that’s painting on the wall for jones. He usually runs his own d. Doesn’t usually have legit future hc candidates at co.
  24. It’s much easier to look good at guard, he didn’t stand out but wasn’t frequently turn styling. Idk how much tread is left on his tire, but I’m also not sure how much Bryant and hardrick have left either. Chances all 3 have a full healthy season by regular ol starter standards is probably 0. It’s a tough spot. Moving on from old guys is not easy. And I fear we just won’t unless they retire. Leading to another step back in pass pro. Eli was really our best ol in the back half of last year, which is sad bad kind of scary. Kola isn’t starter quality, gray struggles too much in pass pro at guard, the other 3 have about 800 million games combined.
