  1. To an extent yeah, but also he barely played in college and in his many years in the nfl. Mbt is 36 and has played a total of 70 games. Mccheese is 27 and played in 56. Fajardo is 32 and he’s played 114. Bo has 176 at 34. Over 5 years of college mbt only played 55 games including plenty of back up time. Even a 2 year starter in hs. BLM played more hs and college games than mbt has since hs combined. It’s pretty wild really.
  2. I like forde, he just needs to be lead by a strong PBP voice or panel host. He seems like he's never comfortable talking on camera. Which is understandable its not by any means an easy thing to do. He's never really improved though. You can tell he has 10x better things swimming in his head than he manages to get out.
  3. tell him I'll give him a great deal on all the paint he can ever use.
  4. Maybe we could petition to bring back bob Cameron. Then I could feel reasonably young again!
  5. While that is true, run D always looks better when the other team passes at will lol. I really love that guy and root for him to succeed and take care of his family. But im sure as hell glad we aren't playin or payin him any more.
  6. Thats a great comparison. Though walker has played a whole lot more at both the pro and college level. So it's likely he picks things up faster and or has more potential. Plus the mobility. I could see him going back south after this year though. That is a guy a bunch of teams could want in camp in the NFL. Harris and zach have a TON of wear for their ages. MBT, has remarkably low physical wear. But the ghosts of his ancestors rattling around that empty dome of his. Walker is some where in between. He hasn't seen as much action as harris and zach as a pro, but way more than mbt. If walker gets action this year or is in camp next year he will be one of the more interesting guys to watch, We all need big stan to keep going for as long as possible, just for the mental health of the fans becoming old heads.
  7. Yeah that was in the background for me, hill/browne. We might've had it happen 3 times in 40+ years. Passing TDs against is a much better stat imo. A QB will take 10 picks if he throw 30 tds. Unless the INT takes points off the board, I'd value an INT similarly to how you value a big play surrendered. (30 yard pass) A pass knock down on 2nd down can be more valuable than an INT at times. QBr against should be widely available on the cfl site through their partnership in stats. I think that would drastically shift how a lot of fans view DBs.
  8. I'd go so far as to say you seldom see the best DB lead the team in ints. Off the top of my head the last time our best DB lead us in picks mightve been bolden in 01? heath tied randle in 17 and mo was a monster that year, I don't think 19 rose was better than BA either.
  9. The worst part of this move, is that mccheese will be a FA this off season. And I could just see us bringing him in some how lol. Its a low risk high reward move for calgary. At this point they may as well swing for the fences. Predicting what QBs will adjust well/quick to the CFL is 50% alchemy 50% luck. Same with predicting who will turn the corner at the sophomore year and become a upper mid tier starter, or who will become and stay a top tier starter. He has the raw tools and the experience to do it. Most Qbs in the cfl aren't cerebral masters of reading/manipulating the D. It should be real fun to watch from the out side. TBH I think half the league is in that boat. It's a horrid year for qbing in the CFL.
  10. I think we will be well situated to move on at dl and lber. Even S, I think they will have Cole there next year.
  11. I get bringing in walker, and doing it now so he can be up to speed for tc next year. He’s got electric arm talent, and he’s a dynamic runner. Decision making and aggression hold him back. I question if he is really willing to put in the effort to become a cfl qb. Hes 30, he’s made a few million, he’s got his pension, he’s pretty well set. He isn’t going to get another nfl shot off the cfl if he’s in camp next year. He won’t get film this year from the stamps, maybe some one takes a flyer on him in an nfl camp next year though. He has a lot of adjustments to make, and the stamps have to decide how much they will system plan for him. He really needs a lot of rpo, and high volume passing to succeed or have a chance.
  12. First I don’t disagree with the ranking. I’d put griffin over holm for sure. The first 3 play pretty different roles in our D and it’s hard to compare really. Though Nichols is the only guy who’d be turn key in any role. So he is a tier above the next two. I can understand the trepidation with ford after Houston, but ford isn’t Houston by any means. I can think of two times early in the year when he gambled hard for picks, made one gave up catch on the other though is was very close and a very hard catch. Ford is closer to early Winston rose in that he’s just making great plays on the ball due to athleticism and very strong positioning. Keep in mind that ford has one of the lowest completion % against in the whole league with the most attempts against. He’s getting to that point where teams don’t want to the to him. But he’s generally in the area with 2-3 opposition targets so it’s hard not to. Griffin is in a low volume spot ford in the high volume spot. Idk with what I’ve seen this year from Holm I don’t think he’d excel at S. he’s not doing great playing down hill, he’s better breaking laterally and defending seams/sidelines. I think sam (which isn’t happening) or being the dime/wil is his best position in our D. Unless he progresses more, which he might. For a long term replacement for ba, I’d be looking at nichols, griffin, Cole, or Kramdi. Though they’ll never move kramdi.
  13. We have ways of making the ratio work for sure. If griffin can’t go, I’m sure it’ll be bridges coming in. Might be mcghee for ba, but not playing S. If ba is likely to be gone one game then ok, I’d rotate Cole and kelly. If ba isn’t gonna be 100% soon, I’d move nichols over. I have more confidence in Kelly playing S over either Hallet just based on the fact he can actually run with WRs.
  14. For sure, but tbh so are the media in the cfl. That’s why they get a less than majority vote. You have to have them involved really. Players will for sure be swayed by friendships. But I think that and the coaches will be the most honest appraisal. I like the idea of ocs voting on D and dcs on O.
  15. Not exactly but kind of. Teams just don’t play that much straight man in the cfl any more. The difference is split field zone in groups vs more isolated zones. He was still coming up on the ball, but more breaking in on lateral routes vs playing down hill on top of guys. In our scheme bonds plays the most man type of cover frequently riding the deepest out side man on the back side. But that’s also a spot seldom thrown at even with the hash move. I wonder if holm wouldn’t excel more in griffins dime/wil sub package as an inside wall type vs playing over WRs. He’s done a good job tackling, but a lot is coming in laterally on the back end of plays. For a guy with great hips he seems to struggle to play north south vs east west. He’s young though and could develop. I’m sure griffin could play his half back spot well. Might be pure gain to swap them. Nichols is like Randle now in terms of being under rated. He doesn’t play the island like Randle did, but teams just don’t go at him like Randle. Though nichols has been fantastic taking gaps in the run fits. His physicality and reliability tackling has been essential. Nichols could be plugged into any role in our secondary and not miss a beat. Same goes league wide. He’s not good at every thing, he’s very literally great at it all. I think on top of jy, ba and Nichols have done a fantastic job supporting and helping all these young kids over the rest of the secondary. It was wild when we ran 2 rookies side by side previously, now, we are running a bunch of guys with low cfl experience across the secondary and excelling with them.
  16. Awards voting should have a 20% contribution from fans, 20% from league media, 30% from football ops, and 30% from the pa. Teams and players can’t vote for their own guys. Maybe have a group select the candidates from each team as well. Some former players/coaches, media types. Give them a mandate to select the top 10-12 candidates for each award across the league. So you don’t have guys being blocked by team mates.
  17. Our system puts most all our guys in the best position to play well. Holm is the one guy who isn’t excelling as much as he could, but that’s mainly because he got thrown at more last year and was able to use his athleticism to make plays. If he grows more and uses his talents more moving the ball and carrier it’ll be tremendous for him too. Bonds could start on any team in the league, Nichols would start on ever team team. Ford might not excel as much in a different system, though he learned and adjusted to this one soo quickly I wouldn’t bet against him. With his pass port and big play ability he would play for any team too. Kramdi has improved with in the system, and is doing a great job in the box the last month or so. Ba, is still struggling with tackling but his coverage has been exactly what you’d expect from him since he made the switch in 19. It’s a small list of guys in the league that could improve upon our secondary. Jy has done a phenomenal job getting the most out of his guys.
  18. Says all that needs be said about his opinion. Yeah we’ve gotten a couple sneaky good pick ups that could make good contributions. Injuries are gonna have a big impact on this weeks roster. If ba misses, I think notree should be a lock. Then cole will be shifting over maybe to S again. I sure hope we don’t just role the crap we did late last game though, with 1-2 ni dl, mac, Sam, cb and S.
  19. Yep, but farhan will be campaigning hard for him. I’m sure he already is. No one will be doing the same for Brady, who should’ve won last year too. this is my general expectation with these awards. And I’m ok with that, I’d rather us go into a gc pissed than high on adulation.
  20. expect 1 jobbing a year when the riders make the play offs. Ford/nichols should be the modp candidate from the west. Brady should be mop/moc. I could see mccinnis getting moc, and Milligan getting modp/mop though. The voting cfl media are the dumbest of the dumb. I could see beverette getting mtls nod for mop.
  21. Chris walker looks good, a real lt prospect which is nice. I really like notree. I wonder if he draws in right away with his ability to play teams? He isn’t an eye popping tester athletically. But he makes eye popping plays in every range. He can drop back, blitz, scrape to the run, spy, do any thing you want an Imp lber to do. Great great tackler, right mix of physicality and consistency with wrapping and tackling in good form not just hitting. Big wingspan too, and hs basketball player as well as de back then. Has the strength to jolt blockers on kick cover, but won’t be able to do it vs ol. He should fit in really well next to jones if we give him the shot.
  22. From a league perspective, what’s the best case scenario for play off home games? Bc vs Regina is a tough one imo. The riders generally sell strong, but that has been greatly reduced in the last several years. Where as bc would likely have some crazy concert event that would bring mega views. Plus it sets up the gc. And some rider fans would travel to bc to bolster numbers a bit. Not having a home game in Toronto would be a huge win for the league. bc/ssk then Winnipeg, ott then mtl with the gc in a dome, should make for strong viewership both in attendance and tv views.
  23. The producer/director is certainly at the the core of the problem. Milts “character” is extremely cringe inducing. I wonder if it ever actually changes though. I assume tsn doesn’t really care what they do as long as it remains cheap enough.
  24. If Strev is indeed going to miss the beginning of next year I wouldn’t be surprised to see us add a league qb even if zach stays. That said it might be dole if he shows well late in the year and they like him.
  25. Bo comes back…. To Calgary! Haha I’d pay to see that. Idk if he’s even a fa but I wanna see it. I could see Toronto jumping into the qb market too. They can’t count on Kelly and don’t have the answer on the Bench like they thought they did.
