  1. We have ways of making the ratio work for sure. If griffin can’t go, I’m sure it’ll be bridges coming in. Might be mcghee for ba, but not playing S. If ba is likely to be gone one game then ok, I’d rotate Cole and kelly. If ba isn’t gonna be 100% soon, I’d move nichols over. I have more confidence in Kelly playing S over either Hallet just based on the fact he can actually run with WRs.
  2. For sure, but tbh so are the media in the cfl. That’s why they get a less than majority vote. You have to have them involved really. Players will for sure be swayed by friendships. But I think that and the coaches will be the most honest appraisal. I like the idea of ocs voting on D and dcs on O.
  3. Not exactly but kind of. Teams just don’t play that much straight man in the cfl any more. The difference is split field zone in groups vs more isolated zones. He was still coming up on the ball, but more breaking in on lateral routes vs playing down hill on top of guys. In our scheme bonds plays the most man type of cover frequently riding the deepest out side man on the back side. But that’s also a spot seldom thrown at even with the hash move. I wonder if holm wouldn’t excel more in griffins dime/wil sub package as an inside wall type vs playing over WRs. He’s done a good job tackling, but a lot is coming in laterally on the back end of plays. For a guy with great hips he seems to struggle to play north south vs east west. He’s young though and could develop. I’m sure griffin could play his half back spot well. Might be pure gain to swap them. Nichols is like Randle now in terms of being under rated. He doesn’t play the island like Randle did, but teams just don’t go at him like Randle. Though nichols has been fantastic taking gaps in the run fits. His physicality and reliability tackling has been essential. Nichols could be plugged into any role in our secondary and not miss a beat. Same goes league wide. He’s not good at every thing, he’s very literally great at it all. I think on top of jy, ba and Nichols have done a fantastic job supporting and helping all these young kids over the rest of the secondary. It was wild when we ran 2 rookies side by side previously, now, we are running a bunch of guys with low cfl experience across the secondary and excelling with them.
  4. Awards voting should have a 20% contribution from fans, 20% from league media, 30% from football ops, and 30% from the pa. Teams and players can’t vote for their own guys. Maybe have a group select the candidates from each team as well. Some former players/coaches, media types. Give them a mandate to select the top 10-12 candidates for each award across the league. So you don’t have guys being blocked by team mates.
  5. Our system puts most all our guys in the best position to play well. Holm is the one guy who isn’t excelling as much as he could, but that’s mainly because he got thrown at more last year and was able to use his athleticism to make plays. If he grows more and uses his talents more moving the ball and carrier it’ll be tremendous for him too. Bonds could start on any team in the league, Nichols would start on ever team team. Ford might not excel as much in a different system, though he learned and adjusted to this one soo quickly I wouldn’t bet against him. With his pass port and big play ability he would play for any team too. Kramdi has improved with in the system, and is doing a great job in the box the last month or so. Ba, is still struggling with tackling but his coverage has been exactly what you’d expect from him since he made the switch in 19. It’s a small list of guys in the league that could improve upon our secondary. Jy has done a phenomenal job getting the most out of his guys.
  6. Says all that needs be said about his opinion. Yeah we’ve gotten a couple sneaky good pick ups that could make good contributions. Injuries are gonna have a big impact on this weeks roster. If ba misses, I think notree should be a lock. Then cole will be shifting over maybe to S again. I sure hope we don’t just role the crap we did late last game though, with 1-2 ni dl, mac, Sam, cb and S.
  7. Yep, but farhan will be campaigning hard for him. I’m sure he already is. No one will be doing the same for Brady, who should’ve won last year too. this is my general expectation with these awards. And I’m ok with that, I’d rather us go into a gc pissed than high on adulation.
  8. expect 1 jobbing a year when the riders make the play offs. Ford/nichols should be the modp candidate from the west. Brady should be mop/moc. I could see mccinnis getting moc, and Milligan getting modp/mop though. The voting cfl media are the dumbest of the dumb. I could see beverette getting mtls nod for mop.
  9. Chris walker looks good, a real lt prospect which is nice. I really like notree. I wonder if he draws in right away with his ability to play teams? He isn’t an eye popping tester athletically. But he makes eye popping plays in every range. He can drop back, blitz, scrape to the run, spy, do any thing you want an Imp lber to do. Great great tackler, right mix of physicality and consistency with wrapping and tackling in good form not just hitting. Big wingspan too, and hs basketball player as well as de back then. Has the strength to jolt blockers on kick cover, but won’t be able to do it vs ol. He should fit in really well next to jones if we give him the shot.
  10. From a league perspective, what’s the best case scenario for play off home games? Bc vs Regina is a tough one imo. The riders generally sell strong, but that has been greatly reduced in the last several years. Where as bc would likely have some crazy concert event that would bring mega views. Plus it sets up the gc. And some rider fans would travel to bc to bolster numbers a bit. Not having a home game in Toronto would be a huge win for the league. bc/ssk then Winnipeg, ott then mtl with the gc in a dome, should make for strong viewership both in attendance and tv views.
  11. The producer/director is certainly at the the core of the problem. Milts “character” is extremely cringe inducing. I wonder if it ever actually changes though. I assume tsn doesn’t really care what they do as long as it remains cheap enough.
  12. If Strev is indeed going to miss the beginning of next year I wouldn’t be surprised to see us add a league qb even if zach stays. That said it might be dole if he shows well late in the year and they like him.
  13. Bo comes back…. To Calgary! Haha I’d pay to see that. Idk if he’s even a fa but I wanna see it. I could see Toronto jumping into the qb market too. They can’t count on Kelly and don’t have the answer on the Bench like they thought they did.
  14. Yep that’s all an excellent addition. For QBs like Fajardo, getting their timing down on timing routes is huge.
  15. As in his follow up year as a starter. It’s a bit different for QBs since they generally sit for 1-2 years or some times more. QBs have a bit of an advantage when they first break out. It takes until their 2nd year for teams to have game film from playing them, with a game plan well built around them. That’s why the Sophmore jinx at qb is a thing. The team has built the offence around them and isn’t experimenting with installs week to week. Teams prepare for that qb and that offence, with film from playing them and other teams playing with that prep.
  16. I get that bc couldn’t let him walk else where. vaj has never been consistent or been able to win in the clutch. The real dumb thing bc did was throwing Rourke right in. They should’ve held him back a month easily while he built chemistry with the team again, learned the play book etc. even vaj missing shouldn’t have been met with instant Rourke play. He’s going into his sophomore play in the worst way possible.
  17. I mean she doesn’t get lost in the noise of the panel because she is the dominant source of noise on the panel. The game gets lost in her noise, and that’s what people (like my self) hate. Others like milt and Sanchez get pulled into her gravity to the point it’s all very loud with out any thing interesting to say. Which washes out any actual good points and conversation. Daikun, lets the content be the star of the show. daikun is like salt and pepper on a steak. Makes it better but you don’t particularly taste or crave the salt n pepper. Kate, is like pouring an entire bottle of cheap ketchup on to a wagyu ribeye. (So is milt, who has less of value to say every year)
  18. That stuff works great on regional broadcasts. Like in baseball. But on nationally televised games on a national station it’s gotta be treated with more professionalism. That’s the biggest knock I have on tsn. The whole thing smacks of a regional broadcast of bush league crap where having fun is more important than doing the job. That’s part of the brilliance of bob irving. Even as a long term bomber broad caster, he was never badly bent. He called a spade a spade if the team was good or bad and was never a fan boy.
  19. As messed up as it is, I don’t want the elk to win. If we clinch with two games and a bye im worried we will lift off the gas too hard. I want atleast one more game with meaning.
  20. I think bc will take the best value. Beggars can’t be choosers in the cfl. Most of the league will wait for vaj to get nasty and force a move where bc likely cuts him. I wonder if tor brings back mbt, or if Calgary brings him in.
  21. I could see that. If we keep ford I see tre being interested. I think we will see competition for him from hammer etc.
  22. Our 3rds are turds. Long past time for new alternates. Any of the classics like this would be great.
  23. Gonna be a big qb reshuffling in the offseason. It’ll be interesting to see how it all boils down.
  24. Nichols and ford are both hands down better dbs. With all our guys healthy, Milligan maybe makes our roster. I’ve never seen a db soo hyped up on tackles. Even holm is just behind Milligan in tackles. No one is talking about him being on of our best dbs. He’s our worst, though still good. for modp it’s a joke. For mop, sickening. Brady and brown are the two best players in the league at their position. Positions historically dominated by imps. They both play on the hottest and best team in the league. Both instrumental in the longest win streak in the league. If either was on another team theyd get the Rourke treatment.
  25. I’d a been happy if they let Wilson do the job the whole time. Having the qb2 do it is just pointless risk. I mean Hamilton had litre doing it.
